  • Patent number: 12000764
Abstract: A sample grinder includes a base having a bowl and a rotatable drive plate to operably support a grinding wheel. A head is configured to support a specimen holder and has a first drive for rotational drive of the specimen holder and a second drive for moving the head and specimen holder toward and away from the drive plate. The head has a sleeve that is larger than the specimen holder. A cover is disposed over the bowl and has an opening larger than the sleeve so that the sleeve fits through the opening when the specimen holder is moved toward the rotatable drive plate. The grinding wheel is mountable to the plate in a single radial orientation only. A dressing system is operably connected to a controller to monitor the current of the drive plate motor and/or the head first drive actuates the dressing system based upon the current drawn by the drive plate motor and/or the head first drive motor falling below a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 11996820
Abstract: A piezoelectric thin film suspended above a carrier substrate is adapted to propagate an acoustic wave in a Lamb mode excited by a component of an electric field that is oriented in a longitudinal direction along a length of the piezoelectric thin film. A first signal electrode is located on the piezoelectric thin film and oriented in a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. A first ground electrode is located on the piezoelectric thin film and oriented in the transverse direction. The first ground electrode is separated from the first signal electrode by a gap in which the acoustic wave resonates. A first release window and a second release window are located at a first end and a second end of the piezoelectric thin film, respectively. Intermittent release windows are located beyond distal ends of the first signal electrode and the first ground electrode.

  • Patent number: 11994508
Abstract: A method and system for performing single molecule proteomics utilizing a nanopore sensor to measure an electronic signature of protein or peptide being transported through the nanopore from a first chamber to a second chamber. The protein's electronic signature is a function of ionic current over time. The method and system utilizing an agent, such as guanidinium chloride, to bind to the nanopore's interior and provide an electroosmotic force within the nanopore. The electroosmotic force, in some embodiments, enables stretching and unfolding of the protein during transport through the nanopore. The agent may also or alternatively induce the unfolding of the protein before transport through the nanopore and/or provide force moving the protein through the nanopore.

  • Publication number: 20240166452
Abstract: A method for grouping and/or separating products transported in rows. With the aid of a first conveyor belt, the products to be grouped or separated are conveyed onto a second conveyor belt connected in series with the first conveyor belt until a downstream product of the products to be grouped or separated runs up against a dividing web of a dividing device associated with the second conveyor belt. After or as the downstream product runs up against the dividing web, a conveyance of products into the upstream region of the second conveyor belt effected by means of the first conveyor belt is interrupted. The second conveyor belt is driven continuously in a transport direction specified by the second conveyor belt, and the dividing web runs along with the second conveyor belt in its transport direction over a defined distance and is then removed from the product flow of the second conveyor belt.
