Abstract: A guide bar for a chain saw including a main bar portion having its outer end edge abutting a mating inner end edge of a nose portion. At least a section of one of the bar portions adjacent the abutting end edges is formed by side plates supported in a spaced apart position by spacing posts. A connecting web connects the bar portions with the said one bar portion fitting between the spaced apart side plates. The web is provided with slots to accommodate the supporting posts and displaceable ear portions extend into the slots to resist but not prevent passage of the posts. Forcing the said one bar portion over the web causes the ear portions to deflect around the supporting posts which then resists but does not prevent separation of said one bar portion from the web.
Abstract: A semi-rigid strip including means for attaching power loads and fasteners alternately along the strip. Said power loads are attached with the head of the power load against the strip and the crimped end extending outwardly thereof and said fasteners are attached with the point of the fastener against the strip and the head of the fastener extending outwardly of the strip. Said means for attaching the power loads and fasteners to the strip being releasible in a manner whereby they can be inserted into the power load receiving chamber or barrel muzzle as the case may be and then the strip is peeled away, thus avoiding the independent handling of the separated power load or fastener. A box is adapted to contain a number of the semi-rigid strips with fasteners and power loads attached thereto with the strips positioned side-by-side within the box as to be individually removed.
Abstract: A washer like metal blank formed into flutes. Each flute is shaped to receive the drive tangs of a saw chain so that successive drive tangs are alternately received in the flutes of first one side and then the other. The central opening is provided with keyways adapted to be mounted on a keyed hub.
Abstract: A guide bar has a main portion and a nose portion. The main portion has a convex outer end and the nose portion a mating concave inner end. A tongue extends from the nose portion for insertion in a receiving slot in the main portion and rivets fasten the tongue to the main portion. A relief is formed at the junctions of the edges of the nose portion and main portion, i.e., at the points where the saw chain passes from the main portion to the nose portion and then back to the main portion of the guide bar.
Abstract: A toggle bolt to be used, for example, to fasten components to a ceiling. The toggle bolt includes a bolt portion and a sleeve portion. The bolt portion is of standard construction and includes an elongated threaded shank and a head portion. The sleeve portion includes a threaded nut pivotally mounted within the sleeve. The sleeve is slotted on one end so that the bolt can be threaded into the nut and then positioned either aligned or crosswise relative to the sleeve. A leaf spring portion in the sleeve biases the sleeve into the crosswise position so that the aligned position is maintained only while the sleeve is pushed through a hole in the ceiling and upon clearing the hole assumes the crosswise position.
