Abstract: A spraying device is provided that includes a cartridge containing a first fluid, the cartridge being removably connected to a sprayer body. The cartridge is oriented such that gravity exerts a downward force on the first fluid. The sprayer body includes a conduit for receiving a second fluid. A valve is coupled to the conduit. The valve allows the second fluid to flow through the valve, thus creating a Venturi vacuum that draws the first fluid out of the cartridge and into the valve to enable the first and second fluids to mix and form an outlet stream. An orifice meters a predetermined amount of the first fluid into the valve to achieve a predetermined ratio of the first fluid to the second fluid. The outlet stream is then dispensed from a spray nozzle.

Abstract: A composition comprising herbicidal mixtures of mesotrione impregnated into or coated on the surface of a granular substrate material such as a fertilizer granule and/or a solid inert carrier material is provided for use to control weeds in turfgrasses without causing damage to the grass and methods for the use thereof.
Abstract: A method for improving the distribution of agriculturally active ingredients on the surface of granules includes preparing a sprayable liquid solution of at least one agriculturally active ingredient, and applying the sprayable liquid solution on the granules by spraying the liquid solution in atomized form onto the surface of the granules to provide a coating on the surface of the granules which enables substantially all of the agriculturally active ingredient on the granule to be solubilized by the naturally occurring moisture present on the foliage of a treated weed for absorption into the cells of the treated weed when the granules are applied thereto.
Abstract: The cartridge spreader system includes a mobile cartridge spreader with a cartridge station configured to engage a cartridge and includes a locking controller for locking the cartridge securely into the cartridge station. The cartridge station includes an activator mechanism for activating and deactivating an engaged cartridge. The cartridge spreader includes an activation controller for activating and deactivating the cartridge. Activation of the cartridge allows the granular product contained in the cartridge to flow out of the container, through a granular chute on the cartridge station, and onto a granular product launcher which launches or impels the granular product over terrain or other surface. When the cartridge is deactivated, the flow path is sealed stopping the flow of granular product. The cartridge itself includes a fitment that engages with the cartridge station. The cartridge fitment includes an appropriately sized metering gate.

Abstract: The invention provides a defined bird feed mixture that is intrinsically attractive to some desirable birds such as finches. The bird feed mixture of the invention attracts larger numbers of small birds than some commercially available finch bird feed mixtures. The bird feed mixture contains thistle, red millet and sunflower chips.

Abstract: A granular agrochemical composition is disclosed including a granular core material having a water soluble portion with a first coating layer applied on the surface of the core material and a second coating layer applied on the surface of the first coating layer. The first coating layer includes a wax composition having a biologically active ingredient incorporated therein and the second coating layer includes a polymeric composition. The granular agrochemical composition exhibits a controlled rate of release of the biologically active ingredient therefrom over a period greater than about 30 days from the date of initial exposure of the granular composition to moisture whereby essentially all of the biologically active ingredient incorporated in the wax material of the first coating layer is released from the granular composition before the water soluble portion of the granular core material is released from the granular composition.

Abstract: A dispensing apparatus having a container, a rotatable dispensing structure or spout assembly and a locking structure or cap. The spout assembly is rotatable between a closed position and an open dispensing position and the locking cap is slideable between a spout assembly restraining position and a release position. The container includes a pair of side grooves, a pair of side ledges and a lateral groove. The locking cap includes a pair of runners for engaging the container side grooves, a pair of rails for engaging the container side ledges and a lateral flange for engaging the container lateral groove.
Abstract: An improved collapsible spreader with a spread rate selection mechanism including a knob and a rotatable cup-shaped structure. The cup-shaped structure includes an elongated setting tab and a thirty-six step edge corresponding to thirty-six spread rate settings on the knob. Operatively engaged with the cup-shaped structure is an abutment tab that is part of a closure structure for blocking and selectively unblocking a hopper opening. The tab engages the setting tab to define the adjustable length of the closure structure. Thereafter, abutment rate selection is a function of the rotatable position of the cup-shaped structure. Engagement of the abutment tab and a step defines the size of the hopper opening and thus the amount of product released from the hopper during operation. The spreader also includes a dual spring arrangement to bias the closure structure to a closed position and to prevent breakage. The disclosed spreader also features a one piece wheel to reduce parts and assembly costs.
