    Abstract: An apertured article, insertion article and associated systems. The apertured article having an aperture, which has an aperture periphery, the aperture periphery having an aperture inner periphery and spaced aperture protrusions that extend radially outwardly from the aperture inner periphery to an aperture outer periphery. The aperture outer periphery is defined by distal edges of the spaced aperture protrusions. The aperture inner periphery is positioned along the circumference of an inner aperture reference circle, the inner aperture reference circle inscribing the aperture periphery, and the aperture outer periphery is positioned along the circumference of an outer aperture reference circle. As viewed along a radial line whose origin is at the center of the inner aperture reference circle, the aperture inner periphery can be positioned along 0.4 to 0.6 of the entire circumference of the inner aperture reference circle. The insertion article can be configured for insertion in the apertured article.

    Abstract: A mesenchymal stem cell harvesting system and method for increasing the efficiency of collecting and processing physiological fluids containing mesenchymal stem cells from a cavity within a patient's skeletal system. Microenvironments risk in MSC production and concentration within a cavity, for example the patient's ilium, are penetrated with a pointed instrument used to create an aperture in the hard cortical bone forming the cavity followed by the insertion of an aspiration device which extracts one or more samples of cancellous bone, bone marrow, bone marrow blood and other aspirated material. The aspirate is rinsed and may be filtered to remove unwanted material and to increase the concentration and purity of the mesenchymal stem cells in the aspirant far beyond levels formerly obtainable for use in autologous treatment of the patient.

    Abstract: A process enables growing thick stoichiometric crystalline and preferably IR-transparent optical PCMO material on Si and other substrates. Sputter deposition is carried out in oxygen-free inert gas (e.g., Ar) environment, which helps to prevent decomposition of the PCMO material over the substrate. In the disclosed process, there is no need to add a seed layer prior to PCMO deposition. Moreover, no post-deposition annealing is needed in a high-temperature and high-pressure oxygen furnace, but an anneal provides certain additional benefits in terms of improved transparency at IR wavelengths. Over a long deposition time for a thick PCMO film on the high temperature (?450° C.) substrates, the PCMO deposition is made repeated cycles of deposition of the PCMO material at the high temperature, each deposition cycle being followed by cooling the PCMO-deposited substrate to a substantially lower temperature (<50° C.).

The plurality of particles maintains a water absorptive property that permits water to be retained by the particle and released over time to disperse heat from the infill material.
