Publication number: 20240158092Abstract: A safe, quiet, easy to control, efficient, and compact aircraft configuration is enabled through the combination of multiple vertical lift rotor assemblies, tandem wings, and forward thrust propellers. The vertical lift rotor assemblies, in combination with a front and rear wing, permits a balancing of the center of lift with the center of gravity for both vertical and horizontal flight. This wing and multiple rotor system has the ability to tolerate a relatively large variation of the payload weight for hover, transition, or cruise flight while also providing vertical thrust redundancy. The propulsion system uses multiple lift rotor assemblies and forward thrust propellers of a small enough size to be shielded from potential blade strike and provide increased perceived and real safety to the passengers. Using multiple independent rotor assemblies provides redundancy and the elimination of single point failure modes that can make the vehicle non-operable in flight.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2024Publication date: May 16, 2024Applicant: Wisk Aero LLCInventor: Ilan Kroo

Publication number: 20240160376Abstract: A user can select a capacity setting for a transitional partition that determines the allocation between a low-density partition and a high-density partition in the transitional partition. The transitional partition can dynamically change among multiple settings having different capacities for the low-density partition. If the current setting of the transitional partition does not efficiently utilize the available storage space based on the user's preferences for storing different types of data in the low-density partition and the high-density partition, then the user can choose to change the transitional partition to a different setting that better suits the individual user's storage allocation preferences. Therefore, valuable storage space will not be under-utilized but instead will be repurposed for more efficient use by converting a low-density partition to a high-density partition, and vice versa.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2022Publication date: May 16, 2024Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Mai GHALY, Thomas FAHRIG

Publication number: 20240159584Abstract: A method for profiling a laser beam includes receiving the laser beam at a thermochromic interface of a detector. A temperature set point for the detector can be selected. The temperature set point can correspond to an equilibrium temperature at the thermochromic interface. The method can also include capturing an image of the thermochromic interface and using the image to determine a partial intensity profile corresponding to at least a portion of the beam intensity profile. A reconstructed beam profile can be assembled using the partial intensity profile. If the reconstructed beam profile is not complete, the method can include iterating over additional temperature set points to determine additional partial intensity profiles. The method can also include determining that the reconstructed beam profile is complete and outputting the reconstructed beam profile.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2023Publication date: May 16, 2024Applicant: RAM Photonics Industrial, LLCInventors: Per Adamson, Mike Cinquino, Joseph Lawson, Jordan Leidner
