Abstract: A powered trash rake system for clearing debris from intake racks used for screening debris from water intakes and other similar structures. The trash rake system includes a telescoping boom mounted to a movable carriage support structure. Electric motors are provided to move the carriage support structure to desired positions along the intake rack to be cleaned and to operate the telescoping boom to move a trash rake structure under power vertically along the trash rack to remove debris therefrom.
Abstract: An interactive method for radiation treatment planning is disclosed. The method applies to staged treatment planning algorithms, as used, for example, with arc therapy. It allows the user to hold the optimization algorithm at a stage in order to make adjustments to the objective function before advancing to the next stage. If adjustments are made, the user can revert to an earlier stage and re-run the optimization process using the adjusted objective function. While a hold is imposed, the treatment planning software may continue optimization at the current stage.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning vessels stacked on racks with a minimum of head clearance. The cleaning apparatus has a drive unit with a turbine wheel connected to a multi-stage gear train. The output motion of the gear train connects through an angular transmission within a fluid conveying elbow to a rotatable housing having a rotatable nozzle angularly assembled thereto. The elbow has a pressure channel and a suction channel there through. The length of the apparatus from the elbow to the housing is short enough to be passed into the bunghole of a vessel, e.g. a wine barrel, while racked. A flexible suction hose is connected to a suction line in the apparatus for removing spent cleaning fluid from within the vessel.

Abstract: The invention is a system for gearless operation of a movable barrier utilizing Lorentz forces, and in particular, a movable barrier operator retrofitted with a gearless motor capable of high torque at very low speeds. Eliminating a gear system in accordance with the present invention lowers maintenance requirements, increases efficiency, and streamlines operation of any movable barrier. By utilizing a motor which produces high-torque at low a speeds a system in accordance with the present invention does away with the need for complicated gears and pulley systems in order to achieve control of movable barriers. The present invention allows manufacturers, distributors and consumers to implement movable barrier systems with much more versatility and efficiency.
Abstract: This invention provides a pre-concentrator device including an electrostatically operated valve and an electrically heated desorber, the electrostatically operated valve comprising a movable flap or membrane carrying a chemically adsorbing coating, suspended by an elastic element above an orifice in an insulated substrate. The device is constructed by planer processing. The flap or membrane can be deflected towards the substrate to block the flow of gas through the orifice by applying a voltage between the substrate and the membrane. The coating provides an adsorbing surface for a volatile organic compound. The coating may be heated electrically, by applying an alternating voltage between the substrate and the flap, thermally desorbing any adsorbed chemical species. When combined with other similar valves in a stacked assembly, the device may be used in a chemical pre-concentrator with very low dead volume.
Abstract: An isolated extracellular matrix-binding protein, designated as SdrC and its corresponding amino acid and nucleic acid sequences and motifs are described. The proteins, peptides, fragments thereof or antigenic portions thereof are useful for the prevention, inhibition, treatment and diagnosis of S. aureus infection and as scientific research tools. Further, antibodies or antibody fragments to the proteins, peptides, fragments thereof or antigenic portions thereof are also useful for the prevention, inhibition, treatment and diagnosis of S. aureus infection. In particular, the proteins or antibodies thereof may be administered to wounds or used to coat biomaterials to act as blocking agents to prevent or inhibit the binding of S. aureus to wounds or biomaterials.

Abstract: A network device comprises a plurality of lookup tables and a processor. Each of the plurality of lookup tables comprises a plurality of table inputs that are associated with a plurality of processor instructions. The processor is operative to perform a network operation on a packet of data comprising a plurality of protocol header fields at least in part by performing one or more lookup cycles. A lookup cycle comprises the addressing of one of the plurality of lookup tables with one of the plurality of table inputs and the performing of the processor instruction associated with that table input. At least one of the plurality of processor instructions in the plurality of lookup tables comprises an instruction directing that the content of one of the plurality of protocol header fields be read and that one of the plurality of lookup tables be addressed with that content as the table input.
Abstract: A method and apparatus enables linered label applicators to use labels on thin liners. Linered labels comprise a composite of an elongate sheet of thin or light-weight temporary liner having a precut label adhered to a low adhesion surface. The cut-out labels on the liner are fed into the linered label applicator. The use of support mechanisms other then vacuum application on rollers enables the use of thinner liner sheets on labels. A die head for cutting or perforating labels comprising adhesive on label stock comprising a die head having at least 80% of its outer surface comprising flat areas between cutting edges, multiple cutting edges on the outer surface, and an internal volume in the die head, the internal volume for carrying coolant liquid into and out of the volume so as to cool the outer surface of the die head when the coolant temperature is at least 10° C. cooler than the outer surface of the die head.
Abstract: A method of increasing the collection of debts owed a government agency by collecting additional names associated with a debtor, verifying that an additional name represents the same person as the debtor, and providing those additional names to the government agency that is owed by the debtor. After the additional names are added, future payments to the debtor can be offset by the amount owed.

Abstract: An electrical connection box in which operability is improved such that even if distortion or flexure occurs in a case, a boss protruding from the case can easily pass through an elongate hold provided in an internal circuit body. A first boss and a second boss protrude from the inner surface of one of a lower case and an upper case. The first boss protrudes and the second boss protrude toward the inner surface of the second of the lower case and the upper case. The first boss and the second boss are cylindrical. First holes through which the first boss pass are aligned with each other in an internal circuit body that is installed in the case. The first holes have a completely cylindrical shape concentric with the first boss. Second holes through which the second boss 20 pass, are provided and aligned with each other in the internal circuit body 10. The second holes have an oblong shape with a long side lying in a direction parallel to an axis that connects the centers of the first holes and second holes.
Abstract: In a method, a printing system and a computer program for trapping of print data with a plurality of objects, the print data are generated, prepared and/or transferred together with trapping instructions in a print data stream for execution of the trapping. The print data stream references resource data that comprise trapping parameters and/or trapping instructions. The method can be executed in real time without a delay in the printing process hereby occurring. It can therefore be integrated into a print data stream for electrographic high-capacity printers.
