Abstract: A system displays a set of content slides on a graphical user interface. The system identifies navigation paths between content slides in the set of content slides, each navigation path indicating a destination content slide to be displayed after a source content slide upon user selection of a navigation choice during a presentation sequence of the content slides. For each identified navigation path, the system displays a visualization of that navigation path on the graphical user interface between the source content slide and the destination content slide associated with that navigation path. The system allows a user of the graphical user interface to alter a navigation path between content slides to change the association of that navigation path between at least one of the source content slide and the destination content slide to modify the presentation sequence of the content slides.

Abstract: A device for Frame Synchronization and coarse frequency offset estimation (CFE) and a method thereof is provided. The method may include the step of receiving a communication signal in a matched filter. The matched filter may be configured for selecting one or more blocks from the communication signal. The matched filter may be further configured for filtering the blocks to obtain an output of the matched filter. The method may also include the step of providing the output of the matched filter to a frame synchronizer and to a coarse frequency estimator. The method may include the step of obtaining substantially simultaneously a symbol boundary using the frame synchronizer and a plurality of metrics using the coarse frequency estimator. Each of the metric may be an indicative of an estimate of coarse frequency offset. The method may further include a step of selecting one of the metric from the plurality of metrics according to the symbol boundary for obtaining an estimate of the coarse frequency offset.

Abstract: Preemption techniques are disclosed which permit multiple high-priority packets to preempt a single low-priority packet. In one aspect, a first device is configured for communication with a second device via an interface bus. The first device comprises interface circuitry configured to receive from the second device a start indicator of a first type and a start indicator of a second type, and to allow at least one data segment associated with the start indicator of the second type to preempt at least one data segment associated with the start indicator of the first type. The start indicator of the second type may have a longer pulse width than that of the start indicator of the first type, such as a double-length pulse width. The first and second devices may comprise physical layer and link layer devices of a communication system.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the transfer of non-fluorescent energy between donor and acceptor moieties. In certain embodiments, the invention provides biomolecules that include substantially non-fluorescent donor moieties. Processes involving these donor moieties typically entail reduced background fluorescence relative to applications that involve conventional fluorescent donor moieties. In addition to reaction mixtures and methods that include the use of these biomolecules, the invention also provides related kits and systems.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning a wafer. The wafer is heated and moved to a processing station within the apparatus that has a platen either permanently in a platen down position or is transferable from a platen up position to the platen down position. The wafer is positioned over the platen so as not to contact the platen and provide a gap between the platen and wafer. The gap may be generated by positioning the platen in a platen down position. A plasma flows into the gap to enable the simultaneous removal of material from the wafer front side, backside and edges. The apparatus may include a single processing station having the gap residing therein, or the apparatus may include a plurality of processing stations, each capable of forming the gap therein for simultaneously removing additional material from the wafer front side, backside and edges.

Abstract: This invention relates to a deformable-mirror holder for holding a mirror in a desired position, to within accepted tolerances, even whilst the mirror is deforming or in a deformed state. In particular, this invention relates to a holder for a bimorph mirror. A deformable-mirror holder is provided comprising a body with a central aperture for receiving a deformable mirror, the central aperture being defined by a plurality of flexible beams, with each flexible beam having an end shaped to provide a supporting surface and a flexible portion that connects the beam's end to the holder's body.

Abstract: A method is provided that includes: determining a minimum clock cycle that can be used to propagate a signal about the critical cycle in a circuit design; wherein the critical cycle is a cycle in the design that has a highest proportionality of delay to number of registers; determining for a circuit element in the circuit design, sequential slack associated with the circuit element; wherein the sequential slack represents a minimum delay from among respective maximum delays that can be added to respective structural cycles of which the circuit element is a constituent, based upon the determined limit upon clock cycle duration; using the sequential slack to ascertain sequential optimization based design flexibility throughout multiple stages of a design flow.

Abstract: A wind turbine with a rotor and a generator driven by, the rotor generates electrical power and delivers it to a power system. A control unit controlling the operation of the plant includes a reactive-power control module. The control unit includes also a determining device for a safe minimum active power. Furthermore, and a limiting device for the reactive-power control module, wherein the reactive power is limited to such a measure that the safe minimum active power is still available, taking into consideration the available power. As a result, the total current generated, apart from the active current required for the safe operation of the plant, can be fed into the power system as reactive current as backup in the case of a voltage drop.

Abstract: A medical device for treating a heart having a faulty heart valve is disclosed. The medical device comprises a ligature including a first anchoring member and a second anchoring member is used. The ligature is percutaneously deployable into a patient with a faulty heart valve wherein the first anchoring member to anchor to a first tissue area of the heart and the second anchoring member to anchor to a second tissue area of the heart.

Abstract: Techniques for suspending a TCP three-way handshake, offering the partial connection to an L-7 application or module at a proxy to perform further processing, and then allowing the L-7 application or module to instruct the proxy's network kernel to perform various actions are described. In various embodiments these actions may include: silently dropping the connection, verbosely rejecting the connection, accepting and processing the connection locally, or forwarding the connection to another proxy or the original destination. This additional functionality is provided, in one particular embodiment, via extensions to the POSIX socket API.

Abstract: In one aspect, a vehicle steer axle has a horizontal axle member that has a steering axis male feature integrally formed on an end, wherein a vehicle steering knuckle, which forms a vehicle steering axis female feature, is directly rotatably coupled to the vehicle steer axle. In another aspect, a vehicle steering knuckle has a horizontal steering knuckle member that has a steering axis male feature integrally formed on an end, wherein the vehicle steering knuckle is directly rotatably coupled to a vehicle steer axle, which forms a vehicle steering axis female feature. Neither of these aspects utilize a separable kingpin.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for installing casing hangers in a wellbore utilizing an externally activated gripping system to temporarily bind wearbushings secured to casing and tubing hangers in order to lock-down such hangers during various wellbore drilling activities, thereby minimizing the size of landing shoulders and eliminating additional lock down equipment and simplifying running procedures.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for facilitating the management of multiple controller code versions for implementing operational aspects of storage system controllers are provided. In particular, multiple versions of storage controller code are loaded into the physical memory of a storage controller. The logical region in which a particular controller code version is loaded may be designated in metadata as a primary, secondary or other region. The controller code that is associated with a logical version designated as the primary region is selected by the storage controller for execution upon a storage controller reboot. Accordingly, time consuming copy operations are not required in order to switch between different versions of storage controller code.

Abstract: A Fibre Channel router used to join fabrics. EX_ports are used to connect to the fabrics. The EX_port joins the fabric but the router will not merge into the fabric. Ports in the Fibre Channel router can be in a fabric, but other ports can be connected to other fabrics. Fibre Channel routers can be interconnected using a backbone fabric. Global, interfabric and encapsulation headers are developed to allow routing by conventional Fibre Channel switch devices in the backbone fabric and simplify Fibre Channel router routing. Phantom domains and devices must be developed for each of the fabrics being interconnected. Front phantom domains are present at each port directly connected to a fabric. Each of these is then connected to at least one translate phantom domain. Zoning is accomplished by use of a special LSAN zoning naming convention. This allows each administrator to independently define devices are accessible.

Abstract: A vented gas riser for use in a system for conducting pressurized gas through a gas carrier pipe from a gas supply source line located below ground level to a delivery point disposed above ground is provided. A fluid tight gas riser protective casing is disposed around said carrier pipe and creates a gas escape passageway in an elongate annular space between the carrier pipe and the casing. A containment chamber is disposed below ground level which creates a confined space which has, as its only egress, a fluid connection to a gas escape passageway. Any gas which leaks into the containment chamber is directed into the gas escape passageway. A riser transition head, which includes at least one vent passageway, provides a fluid connection with said gas escape passageway and with the atmosphere such that any gas which leaks into said containment chamber is directed through the gas escape passageway and through the at least one vent and into the atmosphere.

Abstract: A solar light stick for use as a lawn or garden novelty. The solar light stick has a support member, a solar panel, a rechargeable battery, an LED, and a wand. The wand contains a light transmissive material that may be transparent or translucent. The solar panel charges the rechargeable battery which, in turn, provides power to the LED. The LED is positioned to provide light to the interior of the wand. As such, the LED may be located within a recess in the wand. Voids, such as interior bubbles, suspended objects, or surface irregularities may help to disperse light from the LED in a direction external to the wand.

Abstract: A buffer circuit for use in a digital communication system includes a memory and a controller coupled to the memory. The memory is configurable for storing a plurality of data frames of a first data stream, each of the data frames including a plurality of timeslots corresponding to respective channels in the digital communication system. The controller is operative to store data from the first data stream into corresponding timeslots in the memory in a first order, to individually adjust delays of the respective timeslots as a function of respective delay control parameters, and to generate a second data stream by reading the timeslots stored in the memory in a second order.

Abstract: A correctional facility communication system for sending an external message to an offender of a correctional facility is disclosed. The correctional facility communication system includes a messaging system and a correctional facility system coupled together with a wide area network. The messaging system is at a first location and the correctional facility system is at a second location, different from the first location. The messaging system authenticates a sender of the external message, receives the external message in electronic form at the first location, checks the external message against criteria specified by the correctional facility, determine a second location of the offender and a corresponding printer, and sends the external message to the second location for automatic printing with the corresponding printer.
