Abstract: A flange for a pump comprises first and second faces and a passageway for cryogenic fluid flow extending from the first face to the second face and at least one of (1) the passageway is for a pipe and comprises a first portion of a first diameter and a second portion of a second diameter greater than the first diameter, wherein when the pipe has an outer diameter that is smaller than the second diameter a gap is formed between the pipe and the passageway where the pipe passes through the second portion; and (2) a first annular groove in one of the first face and the second face and extending around the passageway, wherein the first annular groove in cooperation with the passageway forms a bellows. The gap and bellows increase the thermal resistance between the passageway and the flange, and the bellows allows for flexure during thermal contractions of the flange reducing thermal stress on welded fluid seals.

Abstract: A panel for use in an open roof construction for a vehicle comprises a substantially rectangular panel main body made of transparent material, and at least one elongated reinforcing bracket positioned at least partly in the vicinity of an edge of said panel main body and firmly connected thereto. The panel bracket is made of a material which is thinner than that of the material of the panel main body and includes a structure to fix the reinforcing bracket to an operating mechanism configured to support the panel and control movements thereof. The edge of the panel main body comprises at least an inward recess and the reinforcing bracket comprises at least an upward step into the recess. The upward step extends along at least a portion of the recess and is dimensioned to accommodate a part of the operating mechanism under it.

Abstract: A media presentation and distribution system (MPDS) communicatively coupled to a client device, which handles media content distribution via a content delivery network, to a client device associated with a user: identifies candidate time intervals in programming media content played at the client device based on at least a request received from the client device. The MPDS retrieves media content from a media store in the MPDS. The media content is retrieved based on at least one of the user intent information and a plurality of targeting parameters associated with the user. The MPDS dynamically generates personalized media content that corresponds to the candidate time intervals in the programming media content and further instructs playback of the dynamically generated personalized media content at the identified candidate time intervals based on the specified version of the programming media content played at the client device.

Abstract: A distributed cloud computing system is disclosed that includes a controller configured to deploy a first gateway in a first cloud computing network and a second gateway in a second cloud computing network, and logic. The logic, upon execution by one or more processors, causes performance of operations including receiving, from the controller, metadata pertaining to a plurality of constructs corresponding to a plurality of time instances, receiving, from each of the first and second gateways, network data corresponding to the plurality of time instances, wherein the metadata and the network data identify each of the plurality of constructs, communication paths between each construct, and in which cloud computing network each construct is deployed, generating a visualization illustrating differences between the plurality of constructs and communication paths at the first time instance and at the second time instance, and causing rendering of the visualization on a display screen.

Abstract: A semiconductor technology implemented high-frequency channelized filter includes a dielectric substrate with metal traces disposed on one of two major surfaces of the substrate. An input and output port disposed on the substrate and one of the metal traces carrying a high-frequency signal to be filtered between the input and output port. Other of the metal traces are connected to the one metal trace at intervals along the length of the one metal trace each providing a reactance to the high-frequency signal where the reactance varies with frequency and additional traces of the metal traces serving as a reference ground for the one metal trace and the other metal traces. A silicon enclosure mounted to the substrate with a first planar surface with cavities in the enclosure that extend through the first surface, and internal walls within the silicon enclosure defining the cavities. A layer of conductive metal covers the first planar surface, cavities and the internal walls.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method of encoding a division block in video encoding and a method of decoding a division block in video decoding. An input picture is divided into encoding unit blocks. The encoding unit blocks are divided into sub-blocks. The sub-blocks are encoded by selectively using at least one of intra prediction encoding and inter prediction encoding. A decoding process is performed through a reverse process of the encoding method. When pixel values of an encoding unit block are encoded in video encoding, the flexibility in selecting an encoding mode is increased and the efficiency of encoding is increased.

Abstract: According to certain aspects, a method of assessing users of a data storage system can include receiving configuration information relating to a deployed configuration of a first data storage cell and including number of installed data storage hardware and/or software components, the first data storage cell comprising a plurality of client computing devices and being configured to create and store one or more secondary copies of primary data generated by the plurality of client computing devices. The method may also include receiving information relating to an incident opened by a user of the first data storage cell. The method may further include updating a performance metric associated with the user to a new value to reflect a negative impact on the performance metric resulting from the opening of the incident by the user, wherein the degree of the negative impact is based at least in part on the configuration information.

Abstract: A monitoring circuit and a method for function monitoring is disclosed where the device includes the input being connected with a first subassembly that detects a frequency range of the status signal, with the first subassembly being connected with a second subassembly to implement a logical signal combination. The second subassembly is connected with a third subassembly generating a delayed output signal. The method compares a frequency fsw of the status signal with a lower first cutoff frequency f1 and an upper second cutoff frequency f2. When the frequency fsw of the status signal is located within the predetermined frequency range, the functional reliability signal is provided with a first voltage level, and when the frequency fsw of the status signal is located outside of the predetermined frequency range, the functional reliability signal is provided with a second voltage level that is different from the first voltage level.

Abstract: A boom conveyor includes a boom that carries a conveyor, a support structure for the boom, a rear pivot joint that connects a rear end of the boom to the support structure, and a pivot drive that controls pivoting movement of the boom about the rear pivot joint. The boom conveyor apparatus includes an operator platform and an attachment mechanism at a front end of the boom whereby the operator platform may be attached to the boom or detached therefrom. The attachment mechanism includes a leveling mechanism that is configured to apply a leveling adjustment to the operator platform.

Abstract: A system for calculating cardiac output of a patient on an extracorporeal blood oxygenation circuit includes determining the cardiac output corresponding to a blood flow rate through an extracorporeal blood oxygenation circuit, a first arterial carbon dioxide content or surrogate, a first carbon dioxide content or surrogate in the blood delivered to the patient after passing the oxygenator corresponding to a first removal rate of carbon dioxide from the blood; a second arterial carbon dioxide content or surrogate and a second carbon dioxide content or surrogate in the blood delivered to the patient after passing the oxygenator corresponding to a second removal rate of carbon dioxide from the blood.

The system includes at least one monitoring sensor, at least one data analysis engine, at least one application, a semantic engine, a programmable rules and policy editor, a tip and cue server, and/or a control panel. The tip and cue server is operable utilize the environmental awareness from the data processed by the at least one data analysis engine in combination with additional information to create actionable data.

Abstract: The present disclosure presents aerial communication systems and methods. One such system comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle platform and a communication component integrated with the unmanned aerial vehicle platform, wherein the communication component is configured to establish an Air to Air (A2A) communication channel with a remote directional antenna that is integrated with a remote unmanned aerial vehicle platform. The system further includes a computing component integrated with the unmanned aerial vehicle platform, wherein the computing component is configured to determine an optimal heading angle for transmission of communication signals from a directional antenna to the remote directional antenna in an unknown communication environment from received signal strength indicator (RSSI) information obtained from the remote directional antenna. Other systems and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: An information management system allows a user to search through a secondary copy of data, such as a backup, archive, or snapshot without first retrieving the secondary copy of data. Instead, the system constructs lightweight data that can be displayed to a user as a representation of the search results. Lightweight data may include metadata or other information that identifies data included in the secondary copy of data. The lightweight data may be perceived as being the secondary copy of data and allow a user to browse through search results. Once the user identifies a search result that is of interest, information in the lightweight data can be used to retrieve the secondary copy of data. Because lightweight data may have a smaller file size than the file size of the secondary copy of data, the latency of performing a search may be reduced.

Abstract: An improved information management system that implements a staging area or cache to temporarily store primary data in a native format before the primary data is converted into secondary copies in a secondary format is described herein. For example, the improved information management system can include various media agents that each include one or more high speed drives. When a client computing device provides primary data for conversion into secondary copies, the primary data can initially be stored in the native format in the high speed drive(s). If the client computing device then submits a request for the primary data, the media agent can simply retrieve the primary data from the high speed drive(s) and transmit the primary data to the client computing device. Because the primary data is already in the native format, no conversion operations are performed by the media agent, thereby reducing the restore delay.

Abstract: A first component of a process control loop (e.g., a controller or I/O gateway) monitors for and detects performance degradation of a second component of the loop by sending heartbeat messages to the second component via a diagnostic channel different from a control communications channel via which the first and second components communicate control messages for controlling an industrial process. The second component utilizes its control message interpreter to return received heartbeat messages to the first component via the diagnostic channel. The first component detects degradation of the second component when the round trip time (RTT) of a heartbeat message falls outside of an acceptable range of RTTs for the second component, and may suggest or automatically initiate mitigating actions. The first component may determine the average RTT or expected response time of the second component and acceptable range of variations based on a sample number of measured RTTs.

Abstract: An apparatus for vertical transfer of whole nuts from a first elevation to a second, lower elevation includes a run extending between an entrance and an exit, and having a plurality of alternatingly arranged conveying panels between the entrance and the exit. Each conveying panel is inclined at approximately 30 degrees to horizontal and has a predefined width. The apparatus further includes arcuate turn-arounds disposed between respective conveying panels to facilitate transferring the nuts from one conveying panel to the next lower conveying panel. The predefined width of the conveying panels is selected based on a predetermined mass flow rate of nuts such that whole nuts move along the run in a continuous stream without tumbling, and wherein each nut is in contact with adjacent nuts in its respective layer.

Abstract: The emitter attachable to a fluid conduit comprises a fluid inlet portion capable of taking in fluid from the fluid conduit. The fluid from the inlet portion moves to the pressure compensating or reducing portion which comprises a set of teeth which are arranged in a way so as to impede the flow of liquid thereby reducing the pressure. Downstream the pressure compensating portion is the output portion which communicates with an aperture in the fluid conduit to enable distributing the fluid to the environment. The base of the emitter is flexible allowing movement of the base by virtue of the pressure gradient. When the pressure of the fluid is reduced in the pressure compensating portion, a pressure gradient is created across the base and this result in the fluid in the fluid conduit moving the base towards the fluid conduit thereby reducing the volume of the cavity of the emitter.

Abstract: A portable optical spectroscopy device is disclosed for analyzing gas samples and/or for measurement of species concentration, number density, or column density. The device includes a measuring chamber with the gas sample to be analyzed, a light source with at least one laser diode for emitting a laser beam along a light path running through the measuring chamber at least in certain regions, means for modulating the wavelength of the light beam emitted by the light source, and an optical detector device having a first optical detector and at least one second optical detector. At least a part of the light emitted by the laser diode is detected after the light has passed through the measuring chamber m-times, and at least a part of the light emitted by the laser diode is detected with the at least one second optical detector after the light has passed through the measuring chamber n-times, where n>m applies.

Abstract: Wearable devices and methods for preventing and treating carpal tunnel syndrome or DeQuervain's syndrome. The wearable device may include a wrist contact portion for receiving a user's forearm, a stretching mechanism configured to apply opposing forces to a first contact portion and a second contact portion to stretch the user's underlying tissue, the first and second contact portions configured to contact the user's forearm, and one or more straps configured to adjust the compressive force being applied to the user's forearm by the first and second contact portions. The first contact portion may be configured to apply a compressive force to the user's forearm at a first location. The second contact portion may be configured to apply a compressive force to the user's forearm at a second location different than the first location.

Abstract: A speed ratio switching type strain wave gearing can switch the speed ratio of output rotation with respect to one input rotation into two states or multiple states with a simple configuration. The speed ratio switching type strain wave gearing includes first and second internally toothed gears, an externally toothed gear having first and second external teeth formed on the external peripheral surface thereof, a wave generator that causes the first and second external teeth to partially mesh with the first and second internally toothed gears, a clutch mechanism that can selectively switch the first and second internally toothed gears into a fixed state. Input rotation from the wave generator can be reduced in speed at a different speed ratio and derived from the externally toothed gear by selectively switching the first and second internally toothed gears into a fixed state.
