  • Patent number: 10358886
Abstract: A load transfer profile for connection of two bodies without preloading uses a horizontal force couple instead of a vertical force couple for maximum efficiency. The load transfer profile includes a series of tapers and/or diameters that create a radial force couple separated by an axial distance. In particular, the load transfer profile includes at least a first horizontal contact and a second horizontal contact, where each contact is a landing shoulder followed by a stop shoulder or a radial protrusion. The first and second horizontal contacts are offset by the axial distance to accommodate a force-determined bending moment such that system structural fatigue capacity is optimized. A lock mechanism assists with resisting axial loads without creating preload stresses and with locking the bodies together.

  • Patent number: 10293891
Abstract: A high pressure swivel system provides fluid communication on a turret-moored vessel between a swivel core member being in fixed rotational alignment with a seabed mooring system and a swivel revolving member being in fixed rotational alignment with the hull of the vessel. The revolving member has upper and lower radially extending surfaces. On each of the radially extending surfaces are a series of radially spaced apart pressure seals. Hydraulic barrier fluid pressure is regulated in each of the volumes formed between the pressure seals. The pressures in the volumes are regulated such that a process fluid pressure higher than could be tolerated by any one individual pressure seal is safely accommodated by sharing the high process fluid pressure between or among two or more of the radially spaced apart pressure seals.

  • Publication number: 20190085651
Abstract: A technique facilitates coupling of an electrical actuator (20) with a subsea host (22). Effectively, mechanical and electrical connections are both formed during movement of the electrical actuator into engagement with the host. The electrical actuator is moved to a desired host location, and then the electrical actuator is guided into mechanical engagement with the host. During movement of the electrical actuator into mechanical engagement, a drive member (60) and at least one electrical connector (56, 58) of the actuator are operatively coupled with corresponding features of the host, thus enabling engagement of the actuator and host with a simple installation motion.
