  • Patent number: 10123321
Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) receives a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) at subframe k and decodes at the subframe k a set of PDCCH candidates including L control channel elements (CCEs). The L CCEs are contiguously located from a position given by using a variable of Yk and a modulo (N/L) operation, where N represents a total number of CCEs in the subframe k, Yk is defined by Yk=(A*Yk?1)mod D, and A and D are predetermined constant values. When k=0, Y?1 is determined based on a UE identifier having 16-bits.

  • Patent number: 10104684
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) receives downlink data using resource blocks in a wireless mobile communication system. The UE receives downlink control information including resource allocation information and downlink data mapped to physical resource blocks (PRBs) based on the downlink control information. The resource allocation information indicates virtual resource block (VRB) allocations for the UE. A resource block pair includes a first resource block associated with a first time slot and a second resource block associated with a second time slot adjacent to the first time slot. The first and second resource blocks are allocated to the same frequency indices. A mapping between VRB pairs and PRB pairs exists such that frequency consecutive VRB pairs are mapped to non-frequency consecutive PRB pairs and that each resource block pair is split so there is a frequency gap between the first and second parts of the resource block pair.

  • Patent number: 10014923
Abstract: A communication device is described herein that has control (or at least partial control) over which virtual antenna(s) in one or more base stations to use for transmissions. In one embodiment, the mobile phone performs the following steps: (1) receives an antenna subset list (from the scheduling unit) which identifies a configuration of virtual antennas that is associated with the base station(s); (2) uses the antenna subset list to select which virtual antenna(s) in the configuration of virtual antennas to use for transmissions; and (3) sends an antenna selection signal (to the scheduling unit) which contains information that instructs/requests the base station(s)/scheduling unit to use the selected virtual antenna(s) for transmissions.

  • Patent number: 9967864
Abstract: A symbol mapping method for repetition coding is disclosed. The symbol mapping method comprises performing repetition coding on codeword to output repeated codeword symbols, and mapping the repeated codeword symbols with subcarriers located in different localized resource blocks. According to the embodiments of the present invention, it is possible to obtain maximum reliability in a receiving side by mapping codeword bits with subcarriers to reduce the number of bits having low reliability when a transmitting side uses repetition coding. Also, it is possible to improve decoding throughput and obtain channel diversity.

  • Patent number: 9814033
Abstract: A method for efficiently transmitting and receiving control information through a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) is provided. When a User Equipment (UE) receives control information through a PDCCH, the received control information is set to be decoded in units of search spaces, each having a specific start position in the specific subframe. Here, a modulo operation according to a predetermined first constant value (D) is performed on an input value to calculate a first result value, and a modulo operation according to a predetermined first variable value (C) corresponding to the number of candidate start positions that can be used as the specific start position is performed on the calculated first result value to calculate a second result value and an index position corresponding to the second result value is used as the specific start position. Transmitting control information in this manner enables a plurality of UEs to efficiently receive PDCCHs without collisions.

  • Patent number: 9807688
Abstract: A random access procedure between a mobile terminal and a network is performed based upon the characteristics of a RACH preamble. If the RACH preamble was explicitly signaled by the network, a downlink channel is monitored until a new transmission is indicated according to radio resource allocation information received from the network. If the RACH preamble was not explicitly signaled by the network, a contention resolution timer is started and the downlink channel is monitored until the contention resolution timer expires. Such monitoring of downlink channels in a more efficient manner, results in effective reduction in power consumption.

  • Patent number: 9800687
Abstract: In a method for improving the transmission efficiency in a communication system with a layered protocol stack, data packets are processed on an upper protocol layer. Data packets are forwarded to a lower protocol layer for transmission and the transmission is performed with variable channel access delays. The upper protocol layer is notified by the lower protocol layer when a transmission is started to allow a synchronization of timers in the upper protocol layer. If a layer performs a scheduling of data packets for the transmission, a rescheduling is performed alternatively or in addition during a channel access delay. Devices and software programs embodying the invention are also described.

  • Patent number: 9531502
Abstract: A method is provided in a receiving node for handling status information of data units transmitted from a sending node to the receiving node over a radio link. The receiving node establishes (401) that a number of data units that has been transmitted by the sending node are missing. The receiving node sends (402) a reduced status message to the sending node over the radio link, which message is reduced such that it comprises the negative acknowledgement for a first part of missing data units and omits negative acknowledgements for the rest of the missing data units. The omitted negative acknowledgement for the rest of the missing data units will not erroneously be interpreted as correctly received data units by the sending node.

  • Patent number: 9521650
Abstract: In transmission of paging information from a mobile network to a terminal device (200), the terminal device applies a discontinuous reception cycle to enter a sleep mode. Further, the terminal device determines an advance wakeup time (AW) for leaving the sleep mode. The advance wakeup time (AW) is advanced by an advancement time interval (?A) with respect to a start of an active time of the discontinuous reception cycle. At the determined advance wakeup time (AW), the terminal device leaves the sleep mode and starts monitoring the downlink control channel with respect to paging configuration information transmitted by the mobile network. The paging configuration information defines a paging occasion for transmission of the paging information. On the basis of the paging configuration information, the terminal device monitors the paging occasion to receive the paging information from the mobile network.

  • Patent number: 9515803
Abstract: A user equipment receives configuration information from a base station in a wireless communication system. Radio signals carrying configuration control information are received by a user equipment (UE) that includes an ACK/NACK feedback mode indicator. The UE also receives downlink subframes. The ACK/NACK feedback mode indicator is processed to determine if the ACK/NACK feedback mode indicator indicates the user equipment should (a) send an ACK/NACK signal in a one-to-one mapping between a downlink subframe and a corresponding uplink ACK/NACK signal or (b) send an ACK/NACK signal in an N-to-one mapping between N downlink subframes, where N is an integer greater than one, and a corresponding single uplink ACK/NACK signal. One or more ACK/NACK signals is transmitted in accordance with the determination of the processor.

  • Patent number: 9485350
Abstract: The method for managing menu functions in a mobile station includes the steps of executing menu edition, selecting menu items the user uses frequently in the executed menu edition, to set up a menu, executing the menu, and displaying the menu of the selected menu items at first. The basic menu inclusive of all menu items the mobile station provides is selected as a last menu item of the mode menu displayed at first so that the user can access to menu items other than the menu items of preference. By providing easy mode menu with menu items the user or manufacturer of the mobile station uses frequently in advance, and displaying on a display window at first, the user is permitted a quick and easy access to a desired menu item without going through many steps of menus for using the desired menu item.

  • Patent number: 9462563
Abstract: Methods (100) and apparatuses (12, 24, 38) taught herein advantageously facilitate use of timing measurements in wireless communication networks (10) where radio signal timing measurements involve signals at different carrier frequencies. The methods and apparatuses in particular compensate such timing measurements for expected discrepancies in the measurements that arise from frequency-dependent differences in the propagation behavior of the radio signals being measured. In a non-limiting example, measurements at two or more frequencies may be compensated for the frequency distance between those frequencies, or with respect to a reference frequency. In such cases, timing measurements determined for one or more other radio signals are compensated as a function of the frequency distance between the reference frequency and the frequencies of such other radio signals.
