  • Patent number: 7472841
Abstract: A spray head is described for spraying the molds in pressure casting machines, and in it spray nozzles are mounted on bars equipped with supply passages, which form units which can be placed together. To fit these bar units together, coupling elements in the form of cylindrical pins provided with passages are provided, which are provided with recesses having sloping planes which are engaged by the conical tips of Allen screws and thus produce a clamping together of adjacent bar units. The coupling elements are provided at both end faces with sealing rings and their bore aligns with the passages in the bars. Through the use of angle pieces media supply bars bearing spray nozzles can be joined together at any angle to one another.

  • Patent number: 7290588
Abstract: A protective gas device for the melting furnaces of pressure die-casting machines, in particular for processing a magnesium melt. A collection container of a mixing device for the components of a protective gas, which covers the melt to prevent oxidation or other damage, is configured as a pressure accumulator and the orifices for feeding the protective gas into the melting furnace are provided with inlet nozzles. Gas flow to the inlet nozzles is regulated by metering devices. The operating pressure is equal to or less than the pressure in the pressure accumulator of the mixing device, but high enough to atomise the jets and produce a turbulent inflow behind the inlet nozzles. Said pressurized protective-gas distribution permits the metering of gas into various furnace chambers or furnaces without repercussions. A uniform concentration of the protective gas can be achieved in all areas by the selective arrangement of the inlet nozzles.

  • Patent number: 7032842
Abstract: In a spray element for a spray head for spraying the molds of pressure casting machines, a control piston for the release of the parting agent supply is disposed beside the spray nozzle and a connecting passage opens in a chamber of the housing in which one end of the control piston is sealingly guided, while its second end lies with a sealing ring before a chamber fed with parting agent. In the case of the application of control air the sealing ring is shifted out of its cylindrical section 26 into the chamber, so that the feed of parting agent to the spray nozzle is released. If the control air is shut off, then the sealing ring closes the delivery of the parting agent, and the second, larger end of the control piston exercises upon its return movement a reverse suction effect on the connecting passage. Any after-dripping of parting agent is securely prevented.

  • Patent number: 6830094
Abstract: A device for producing nonferrous metal diecast parts is described in which a hot-duct gate system is disposed in front of mold cavities, by means of which hot-duct gate system, it is possible to guide the hot molten metal closely in front of the mold cavities and to maintain it in the liquid condition until the next shot. As a result, solidified overflows or runner ducts and pressing residues are avoided. The new device can therefore operate in a very economical and precise manner.

  • Patent number: 6793000
Abstract: A method of operating a hot-chamber diecasting machine is provided in which, after the filling of the mold, a compressional vibration is generated which prevents the molten metal from rapidly solidifying at least in the narrowest cross-section of the feed orifice between the ascending bore and the mouthpiece and the mold. In this manner, it becomes possible to increase the afterpressure upon the molten metal in the mold in comparison to conventional hot-chamber diecasting processes in order to achieve cast parts of a higher quality.

  • Patent number: 6761209
Abstract: A method is described of operating a hot-chamber pressure diecasting machine and a pressure diecasting machine suitable for the implementation of this method, by which a prefilling of the casting system can be carried out before the actual mold filling operation. During this prefilling operation, the air present in the casting system after each shot when the casting plunger is withdrawn, is pressed out during this prefilling operation through the mold which is still open during this time period. This amount of air therefore no longer has to escape during the subsequent mold filling operation. The mold filling operation and the pressing-in operation can therefore be implemented more effectively and within a shorter period of time.

  • Patent number: 6581670
Abstract: A pressing-in unit for a hot-chamber pressure diecasting machine permits an electro-mechanical drive for the casting plunger. In order to absorb the moments of inertia of the drive which occur during the switch-over of the casting plunger drive from the mold filling phase to the after-pressure phase, a spring element in the form of a plastic component or a liquid spring is inserted between the casting plunger and the pusher rod moved by the electric drive, which spring element is compressed by the additional path which the pusher rod still covers after the braking of the motor. The extent of the compression is selected such that the resulting axial force which is exercised by the plastic component or by the liquid spring is sufficient for causing the desired after-pressure in the molten metal.
