  • Publication number: 20110170759
Abstract: The invention relates to segmenting blood vessels in perfusion MR images, more particularly, the invention relates to automated vessel removal in identified tumor regions prior to tumor grading. Pixels from a perfusion related map from dynamic contrast enhancement (DCE) MR images are clustered into arterial pixels and venous pixels by e.g. a k-means class cluster analysis. The analysis applies parameters representing the degree to which the tissue entirely consists of blood (such as relative blood volume (rBV), peak enhancement (?R2max) and/or post first-pass enhancement level (?R2p)) and parameters representing contrast arrival time at the tissue (such as first moment of the area (fmAUC) and/or contrast arrival time (T0)). The artery and venous pixels are used to form a vessel mask. The invention also relates to a computer aided diagnostic (CAD) system for tumor grading, comprising automated tumor segmentation, vessel segmentation, and tumor grading.

  • Publication number: 20110138356
Abstract: A method of matching message elements, including a reading step of reading a contents of a first message and a second message and a determining step that determines whether the content of the first message is the same as the content of the second message, wherein if the content of the first message matches the content of the second message, a new pair is formed that includes the content of the first message and the content of the second message. The method further includes a matching table lookup step of reading a matching table, which stores one or more pairs of matching elements, a consistency check step to determine whether the new pair is consistent with the one or more pairs of matching elements stored in the matching table, and a storage step for storing the new pair to the matching table based on the result of the consistency check step.

  • Publication number: 20110046488
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a post-operative care unit for analysing and quantifying an ultrasound tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) signal from a transducer fastened on the myocardium to obtain a parameter indicating regional cardiac ischaemia or correlates with global hypokinetic heart function. This has the advantage over manually operated probes that it can be automated and used continuously over long time. According to the method, a TDI signal trace corresponding to at least one of tissue velocity, strain or strain rate is extracted and correlated with an electrocardiogram to define subsections within a cardiac cycle in the extracted trace corresponding to the early systolic phase and the post-systolic phase. Then, a velocity, strain or strain rate is read in at least the post-systolic phase of the extracted trace, and a parameter which is a function of one of these readings and which indicates ischaemia or global hypokinetic function is generated.

  • Publication number: 20110018687
Abstract: A zone location system with ultrasound US transmitters S1, S2, S3 located in respective zones Z1, Z2, Z3 such as rooms of a building B. Preferably, the US transmitters are time-multiplexed so that each of them in turn transmits a US signal US with a unique ID code USID represented therein. The portable tag PT includes an ultrasound receiver USR arranged to receive the US signal. Based on the received US signal, the portable tag PT measures a strength of the received US signal. The portable tag PT also measures a parameter related to a movement of the portable tag PT, e.g. a Doppler shift based on the received US signal. Further, the portable tag extracts the USID. Then it transmits a wireless Radio Frequency signal RFS with its own ID PTID, the USID and first and second data values D1, D2 representing the signal strength and the movement related parameters.

  • Publication number: 20100064367
Abstract: A method of detecting intrusion in a computer program which has number of defined libraries and includes cross border instructions which cause execution to branch from a source library to a target library. The method comprises the step of determining whether execution of the program is in an area consistent with normal execution of the program, by checking whether the source library of a cross border instruction is the expected current execution library of the program. Each cross border instruction has a code stub identifying the source library, and when a legal cross border instruction is executed the target library becomes the current execution library. The method also checks that the target address of a cross border instruction is a legal address. In another arrangement, areas of the program are set so that a cross border instruction will generate page protection fault which is intercepted by the intrusion detection system so that the cross border instruction can be checked.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of active surfaces terminated by a desired form of organic, organic-inorganic, or inorganic nature comprising growing with a gas phase deposition technique preferable the ALCVD (atomic layer chemical vapour deposition) technique. As an example, trimethylaluminium (TMA), hydroquinone (Hq) and phloroglucinol (Phl) have been used as precursors to fabricate surfaces that are terminated by hydroxyl groups attached to aromates. Further types of active surfaces are described. These surfaces can be used to produce surfaces: suitable for adhesion through the use of glue or other adhesive, providing receptors for biological molecules, making the surfaces biocompatible, of catalytically active materials, where upon subsequent types of chemical reactions can take place, with different degrees of wetting properties.

  • Patent number: 7563864
Abstract: Celiac Sprue and/or dermatitis herpetiformis are treated by interfering with HLA binding of immunogenic gluten peptides. The antigenicity of gluten oligopeptides and the ill effects caused by an immune response thereto are decreased by administration of an HLA-binding peptide inhibitor. Such inhibitors are analogs of immunogenic gluten peptides and (i) retain the ability to bind tightly to HLA molecules; (ii) retain the proteolytic stability of these peptides; but (iii) are unable to activate disease-specific T cells.
