Abstract: A protective enclosure for an electronic device includes a cushioning member and a structural member. The cushioning member covers the side surfaces of the installed electronic device and includes a first raised edge and second raised edge, the first raised edge extends around the front edge of the installed electronic device and the second raised edge extends around the back edge of the installed electronic device. The cushioning member is not configured to cover the back surface of the installed electronic device. The structural member is affixed to the cushioning member and includes a back portion and side portions, the back portion extends around the second raised edge of the cushioning member and covers the back surface of the installed electronic device, the second raised edge of the cushioning member forming a gap between the inner surface of the structural member and the back surface of the installed electronic device.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to enclosure members that include a seal dispensed onto the enclosure surface, and methods of dispensing such seals. A dispensed seal may be formed from an elastomeric material using a dispensing apparatus. The seal may be formed as a continuously dispensed bead that begins as a first ramped portion, continues as a second portion, and ends as a third portion positioned over the first ramped portion such that the first and second portions are have a combined cross-sectional area substantially equal to the cross-sectional area of the second portion. The seal may also be non-contiguous and formed from two or more members with multiple ramped portions. The ramped and inverted ramp portions prevent protrusions and depressions in the thickness of the seal. The seal may include one or more secondary structures dispensed on the surface of the seal and/or a surface of the enclosure surface.
Abstract: A protective case for a portable electronic device is provided. The portable electronic device has a device connector for transmission of data and/or power between the device connector and a data and/or power source via a reciprocal connector assembly. The case includes an aperture disposed proximate the device connector of the installed portable electronic device, the aperture passing between an outer surface and an inner surface of the case and defined by a surface between the outer and inner surfaces, the aperture having a circumference; and a compliant seal surrounding the circumference of the aperture, the compliant seal to interface with at least a portion of the backshell portion of the reciprocal connector assembly to seal the aperture when the reciprocal connector assembly is inserted through the aperture to interface with the device connector of the installed portable electronic device.

Abstract: A rechargeable battery pack includes a housing, one or more rechargeable batteries contained in the housing, a first inductive coil, a second inductive coil, and electrical circuitry. The first inductive coil is configured for inductively transferring first electrical power from the one or more rechargeable batteries to a first electronic device through a first wireless charging interface according to a first charging interface protocol. The second inductive coil is configured for inductively transferring second electrical power from the one or more rechargeable batteries to a second electronic device according to a second charging interface protocol that is different than the first charging interface protocol simultaneous to the transferring of the first electrical power to the first electronic device. The electrical circuitry is configured for driving the first inductive coil and the second inductive coil for inductively transferring the electrical power to the first and the second electronic devices.
Abstract: A protective cover for an electronic devices includes a protective shell base having an inner surface, an outer surface, and side members. The protective cover also includes a cushioning member configured for cushioning the electronic device when the electronic device is disposed in the protective shell base. The protective cover also includes a first opening configured to align with and expose at least a portion of a capacitance-sensing interactive touch screen display when the electronic device is disposed in the protective shell base. The protective cover also includes a second opening configured to align with a camera feature of the electronic device when the electronic device is disposed in the protective shell base. The protective cover further includes an access port positioned to be proximate an electrical interface of the electronic device when the electronic device is disposed in the protective shell base.

Abstract: A protective enclosure for use with a portable electronic device includes a rigid shell and a cushion layer. The rigid shell is configured to removably cover at least a portion of the portable electronic device. The rigid shell includes openings and one of a tab and a groove on an external surface of the rigid shell. The cushion layer is removably disposable over the rigid shell and conforms to the external surface of the rigid shell to cushion the rigid shell. The cushion layer includes one of a groove and a tab that corresponds to and interfaces with the one of a tab and a groove of the rigid shell to retain the cushion layer to the rigid shell when the cushion layer is disposed over the rigid shell. The cushion layer further includes an opening that aligns with at least one of the openings of the rigid shell.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to stands and enclosures for an electronic device. The apparatus can include an enclosure or a housing for receiving an electronic device and protect the device from damage resulting from impact or exposure to liquids. The stand may include one or more bi-stable springs connected to the rear surface of the housing by an attachment feature, such as slides or an anchor. The bi-stable spring portion of the stand has a straight or inactive configuration and a curled activated configuration. When a user places pressure on a straightened bi-stable spring, the bi-stable spring curls outward away from the enclosure and can act as a stand for the electronic device. The stand may be removably or permanently affixed to the enclosure.

Abstract: A mounting system with a lock switch can be used to releasably attach a first item, such as a protective encasement for an electronic device, to a second item, such as a bicycle mount, suction cup mount, or a surface in a home, office, or vehicle. The mount assembly may include a housing that encloses a cam and torsion spring disposed within a housing volume and has a portion that rotates relative to the cam. A recess in the mount assembly can receive and retain a mounting cleat associated with the first item. One or more clasp mechanisms of the mount assembly can be configured to clasp the mounting cleat when it is inserted into the recess, and to release the mounting cleat when the one housing portion is rotated relative to the cam. A locking mechanism may be included that prevents the housing from rotating and releasing the cleat.
