  • Patent number: 5823391
Abstract: A dual chamber flexible tube dispensing package is formed by providing a pair of plastic parisons, blow molding each parison to form a tube having a rigid finish, a shoulder adjacent the finish and a flexible body extending from the shoulder with a closed lower end; each tube having a generally D-shaped cross section throughout the finish, shoulder and body; each tube having an arcuate wall and a generally flat wall; and bringing the flat walls into abutting relationship. Each tube has a thread such that when the flat walls are in abutting relation, the thread on one tube form continuous thread with the thread of the other tube. In another form of dual chamber dispensing package, each tube has a plurality of vertically spaced integral ribs which extend transversely. The ribs on is one tube are staggered relative to the ribs on the other tube so that when the tubes are brought into engagement, the ribs on one tube engage the ribs on the other tube and the shoulders are in abutment.

  • Patent number: 5800770
Abstract: In a method and apparatus wherein a container is formed, decorated by rotating the container and then the base of the contianer is cut off for a plastic tube, a container is formed with a diametral lug on the base to facilitate rotating the container during decorating. In another form, opposed diametral surfaces are provided on the lower end of the container adjacent the base. In another form, the diametral surfaces are arcuate. In another form, the lower end of the container includes a frustoconical surface. In another form, circumferentially spaced axial grooves are provided in the frustoconical surface.

  • Patent number: 5725309
Abstract: A blow molded plastic container including a base including a bottom intended to rest upon a supporting surface. The base has a predetermined average thickness providing sufficient strength and rigidity to maintain its shape as molded. An integral body portion extends upwardly from the base. The body portion terminates in an open upper end. An integral handle extends from said shoulder portion. The integral handle is solid. The handle, at its line of juncture with the shoulder portion reduced thickness from other portions of the handle. The body portion has an average thickness less than the base predetermined average thickness. The average thickness is insufficient to permit the body portion to maintain its shape as molded during handling without supplementary support. The open upper end of the container is flexible such that the container can be filled and the upper end can be collapsed and sealed to define a package.

  • Patent number: 5704507
Abstract: A plastic container comprising hollow plastic body including a side wall, a base wall, a shoulder, an integral neck and an integral finish on the upper end of the neck. An integral laterally extending flexible handle is provided on the neck below the threads or the like that are positioned on the neck for receiving a closure. The handle may be of a number of configurations including a T-shape or annular bail-type shape. A method and apparatus for making the container comprises injecting, extruding and blowing wherein the finish and the integral handle are first injection molded and thereafter the neck and body are formed by extrusion of plastic integrally with the finish followed by blow molding of the hollow container.

  • Patent number: 5687878
Abstract: A flexible tube and pump dispenser for lotions and the like including a flexible plastic tube having a first end and a second end. The tube includes an integral rigid finish at one end which has a radial flange and a radially inwardly extending wall. The flange has an opening therethrough. A pump dispenser having a plunger and an axial body extends through the opening in the sealing flange of the finish. The axial body of the pump dispenser has a flange engaging the flange of the finish. The flange on the body is held in position engaging the wall on the finish.

  • Patent number: 5662945
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming plastic hollow articles such as containers which includes a turret that includes an upper head and a lower head, each of which supports circumferentially spaced sets of core rods. The heads are rotated about a vertical axis and also are moved upwardly and downwardly about the vertical axis for positioning the core rods within the cavities of upper injection mold and upper blow mold and a lower set of injection and a lower set of blow molds. Each mold has an upper half and a lower half. The lower half of the upper mold is mounted in fixed position and the upper half of the lower mold is mounted in fixed position. The upper half of the upper mold and the lower half of the lower mold are movable axially vertically toward and away from their respective fixed mold halves to close about parisons on the core rods.

  • Patent number: 5655684
Abstract: A plastic squeeze tube and dispensing system wherein the plastic tube includes a first end that is closed and has an opening therethrough for hanging the tube from a display rack with graphics on the tube being readily visible. The plastic squeeze tube further includes a second end that is normally closed. Interengaging threads are provided on the second end for engagement with a reusable dispenser. In one form, the second end of the squeeze tube is closed by an integral portion of the tube and the dispenser includes threads for engaging the second end and a member for piercing the integral end. In another form, the second end of the plastic tube is closed by a removable seal and the dispenser includes threads for engaging the threads on the plastic tube and has a dispensing opening. In a further form the threads on the tube are formed by a split tube holder that is mounted on the second end of the tube and has threads thereon for engagement with threads of a dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5645870
Abstract: A rotary plastic blow mold machine including a cylindrical hub rotatably mounted about an axis. A plurality of mold assemblies including an upper mold and a lower mold movable axially toward one another are removably mounted on the machine with each lower mold on the periphery of the hub. Mounting construction is interposed between the lower mold and the hub. Each mounting arrangement has an arcuate surface engaging a portion of the periphery of the cylindrical hub such that the lower mold can be removed and replaced on the hub by different size molds.

  • Patent number: 5599495
Abstract: A hollow plastic container having a finish which has a diameter less than the diameter of the body portion of the container which is made by forming a parison with a neck portion for defining the finish and a body portion and thereafter expanding the body portion to a cross section greater than the cross section of the neck portion. The neck is then trimmed by removing plastic material from the outside of the neck and from the top of the neck to form the finish to the final dimensions. In one form, the prison is a multi-layer parison in order to form a multi-layer plastic container.
