    Abstract: An iontophoresis system includes a preloaded reservoir containing one or more doses of a therapeutic agent. As a result, the therapeutic agent does not have to be loaded into the reservoir prior to use. In such a system, the preloaded reservoir is generally disposable. Various components of the iontophoresis system can be combined with the reservoir in a disposable cartridge that is selectively connectable to other, reusable components of the iontophoresis system. In addition, the entire iontophoresis system can be formed from one or more disposable, one-time-use modules.

    Abstract: An adapter is connected to a hose cuff on a vacuum hose for connection with two different inlet valves of a central vacuum system. The hose cuff may connect with a primary inlet valve and when the adapter is connected to the hose cuff, the adapter enables the vacuum hose to be coupled with a secondary inlet valve that is different from the primary inlet valve. There is a conductive material on the adapter that completes an electrical circuit by contacting two metal conductors or pins in the secondary inlet valve to activate the central vacuum system when the adapter completes the circuit.

Arranged between the temperature-controlling element and the cooling device is a thermoelectric cooling element for cooling the temperature-controlling element and the measuring cell. A method for operating the device for controlling the temperature of the measuring cell is also disclosed.
