  • Patent number: 11267053
Abstract: A coating for carbide substrates employs a nanostructured coating in conjunction with a non-nanostructured coating. The nanostructured coating is produced by the addition of a refining agent flow, particular hydrogen chloride gas, during deposition, and may be produced as multiple individual nanostructured layers varying functional materials in a series. The combination of a nanostructured coating and non-nanostructured coating is believed to produce a cutting tool insert that exhibits longer life. Pre-treating the substrate with a mixture of compressed air and abrasive medium prior to coating the substrate and post-treating the coated substrate with a mixture of water and abrasive medium after the coating process is believed to further enhance the wear resistance and usage life of the cutting tool.

  • Patent number: 11191418
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus and system for removing debris from a surface of a plate or utensil. The apparatus has a cleaning area and a pair of brushes disposed in the cleaning area with the bristles of a first brush facing toward the bristles of the second brush so that debris is scraped off the surface as the plate or utensil is pushed through the bristles. The cleaning area may be defined by a container or an opening in a work surface. Brush mounting mechanisms mount the brushes to opposing sidewalls of the container or opposing interior surfaces of the opening. The brush mounting mechanisms and brushes can be cooperatively configured so the bristles of the brushes overlap each other where the plate or utensil will be pushed through the bristles. The mounting mechanism may be a clip that engages a sidewall of the container. The system includes the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 10959871
Abstract: An orthosis with controlled angular excursion can be positioned at the level of a joint or articulation of the human body. The orthosis includes an articulated joint with a basic structure designed to be positioned on the joint and also includes centrally, a pin with toothing located in a circular sector with predetermined width. The basic structure and the relative pin provided with toothing are equipped with a respective pair of rings, each of which has a substantially elongated shape. A hollow part, or slot, includes two straight sectors, of which at least one is provided with toothing with the same pitch as the toothing of the pin with which it engages. The pair of rings can, when in use, be simultaneously rotated around the pin, and are provided with slots which in turn include a tractor for the orthosis.

  • Patent number: 10752997
Abstract: Ultrasonic spray deposition (USD) used to deposit a base layer on the substrate, followed by chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) to introduce a binder phase that creates a composite coating with good adherence of the binder to the initial phase particles and adherence of the composite coating to the substrate, is disclosed. We have used this process to create coatings consisting of cubic boron nitride (cBN), deposited using USD, and titanium nitride (TiN) applied using CVI in various embodiments. This process can be used with many materials not usable with other processes, including nitrides, carbides, carbonitrides, borides, oxides, sulphides and silicides. In addition, other binding or post-deposition treatment processes can be applied as alternatives to CVI, depending on the substrate, the coating materials, and the application requirements of the coating. Coatings can be applied to a variety of substrates including those with complex geometries.

  • Patent number: 10711030
Abstract: A method for the purification of allopregnanolone is disclosed. Allopregnanolone prepared from isopregnanolone contains impurities such as triphenylphosphine oxide and other unknown impurities. To remove these impurities and purify allopregnanolone, the allopregananolone is dissolved in acetonitrile, and crystallized from the acetonitrile. The resulting crystallized allopregnanolone may then be re-crystallized from acetonitrile to further purify the allopregnanolone.
