  • Patent number: 7983016
Abstract: An electrostatically atomizing device comprises an emitter electrode, an opposed electrode, cooling means for condensing water on the emitter electrode, and a high voltage source; and high voltage is applied to the condensed water so that minute water particles are discharged from a discharge end at a tip of the emitter electrode. The device comprises a controller for causing the charged minute water particles to be discharged stably. The controller has an initial control mode and a normal control mode. In the initial mode, the cooling means is controlled so as to cool the emitter electrode at a predetermined cooling rate. Once discharge current reaches into a predetermined target discharge current range, the cooling means is controlled by feedback control, on the basis of the value of the discharge current, in such a manner that the discharge current is kept within the target discharge current range.

  • Patent number: 7981060
Abstract: An ultrasonic skin care device has an applicator head for applying the ultrasound vibrations to a user's skin. The applicator head has a vibrator element and a horn which are integrated into a combined vibration mass that resonates with an electric pulse to produce the ultrasound vibrations. The device is configured to limit the ultrasound upon detection that the applicator head is out of a normal contact with the skin. A load detecting circuit detects whether the applicator head is in a normally loaded condition or in an unloaded condition with reference to electrically equivalent impedance of the combined vibration mass. The combined vibration mass has a structure that restrains vibrations at a center portion of the vibration mass in order to reduce an undesired parasitic resonance, thereby enabling to discriminate the impedance given under the normally loaded condition from that given under the unloaded condition.

Abstract: A wrist sphygmomanometer includes an operation unit operable by a user. A manometer measures blood pressure. A detector detects the posture of the user. A storage stores an optimum posture for the user. A comparator compares the posture detected by the detector and the optimum posture stored beforehand in the storage to generate posture information. A communication unit communicates the posture information to the user. A setting unit sets the optimum posture in the storage. The storage includes a first storage section, which stores a fixed optimum posture corresponding to an unspecified user, and a second storage section, which stores a second optimum posture corresponding to a specified used. The setting unit stores the second posture based on a value detected by the detector as the second optimum posture in the second storage section in accordance with an operation of the operation unit.
