Abstract: The inventive white-light emitting luminescent conversion LED uses a chlorosilicate luminous substance which is doped with europium in addition to containing Ca and Mg and a garnet rare-earth substance, especially Y and/or Tb. This results in high quality colour reproduction and highly constant lighting properties at various temperatures.
Abstract: The electrode system for a metal halide lamp with ceramic discharge vessel (4) comprises an electrically conductive leadthrough (9, 10) and an electrode connected thereto, the leadthrough having a fusible region with respect to the electrode, in which that end of the electrode which faces the leadthrough is embedded, at least the fusible region containing one of the high-melting metals Mo or W, and the electrode having a shank made from tungsten. In the regions surrounded by the material of the leadthrough, the electrode has a positively locking means which at least comprises a recess in the shank of the electrode.

Abstract: Disclosed is a halogen incandescent lamp having a lamp vessel, which is sealed at one end and in which at least one luminous element is accommodated, a vessel section 42 being in the form of a side reflector which extends only over a subregion of the lamp vessel circumference. A light-exit window 40 adjoins this vessel section 42 in the circumferential direction. According to the invention, the light-exit window 40 is comparatively slightly curved in cross section, the vessel section 42 forming the side reflector bulging out away from the light-exit window 40. This bulged-out region is preferably provided with a kidney-shaped constriction 46.

Abstract: An elongated electrode of a dielectric barrier discharge lamp is divided into two component electrodes (A, A?) by a gap (L). The two component electrodes (A, A?) are driven in an ignition phase in such a way that an auxiliary discharge that facilitates the ignition of the main discharge (E) in the region of the electrode gap (L), in particular when the lamp is in the dark. Abstract: The invention relates to circuit arrangements for operating lamps and to operating devices which contain such circuit arrangements. A first stage of a circuit arrangement according to the invention comprises a SEPIC known from the literature. The SEPIC provides a DC voltage which an inverter converts to a radiofrequency AC voltage for lamp operation. According to the invention, an electronic switch (S1) acts both in the SEPIC and in the inverter. Two diodes (D1, D2), which are connected into the supply line for the electronic switch (S1), prevent the SEPIC and the inverter from influencing one another.

Abstract: An electronic transformer for halogen incandescent lamps is equipped with a self-commutated half-bridge inverter. The half-bridge inverter contains a start circuit with a start capacitor (C3), which starts commutation of the half-bridge inverter after each mains half-wave by driving a lower half-bridge transistor (T2). The start circuit has to be suppressed while the half-bridge inverter is commutating. This is achieved according to the invention by discharging the start capacitor (C3) whenever an upper half-bridge transistor is turned on (T1). This is done by an amplifier element (V1), which is driven via a high-pass filter (C4) from the half-bridge midpoint (M).

Abstract: A tubular dielectric barrier discharge lamp having a discharge vessel and at least one inner wall electrode has, at least at one end, a constriction 9, which extends along the entire circumference of the discharge vessel and tapers in the direction opposite to the interior of the discharge vessel. The constriction 9 serves the purpose of sealing this end of the discharge vessel in a gas-tight manner via a closure element 4, which is in the form of an exhaust plate and is inserted at this point. The tapering of the discharge tube for the purpose of forming the constriction 9 prevents or at least markedly reduces any negative effect of the electrode spacing and/or the thickness of the dielectric coating of the electrodes in the region of the discharge space which is immediately adjacent to the constriction 9.
