Abstract: A drive circuit for an LED array comprises a first LED cluster and at least one second LED cluster. A control loop is designed to drive a switch of the first LED cluster so as to achieve a constant mean value of the current (ILED) flowing through the first LED cluster the control loop being designed for also driving switches of the further LED clusters. The drive circuit also comprises a total current detection device (RMES) with the aid of which it is possible to determine an actual magnitude (UMess) which corresponds to the sum of the currents through at least two of the second LED cluster.

Abstract: The selection of the dead time in the case of a half-bridge inverter influences the efficiency thereof. The optimal dead time, and thus the optimal switching-on time of a lower half-bridge transistor (T2) is accomplished according to the invention by virtue of the fact that switching on is delayed until the current in a level shift transistor (T3) has dropped below a given threshold. A further aspect of the invention consists in that the delay in switching on the lower half-bridge transistor (T2) is immediately suppressed whenever a charging current flows in a trapezoidal capacitor, and this is accompanied by the rise of the half-bridge output voltage (UHB) after the traversal of a minimum.
Abstract: Discharge lamp with phosphor A discharge lamp (1) having a discharge vessel (2) which surrounds a discharge medium which emits electromagnetic radiation in the VUV region when the lamp is operating has, on the inner side of the discharge vessel wall, a first phosphor layer, which faces the discharge medium and comprises a UVA component which can be excited by the VUV radiation and is intended to emit electromagnetic radiation in the UVA region. Moreover, the discharge lamp (1) has a second phosphor layer, which can be excited by the UVA radiation and is intended to emit electromagnetic radiation in the visible region. This second phosphor layer either lies beneath the first phosphor layer or is applied to the outer side of the discharge vessel wall. This results in a lower color locus shift compared to a conventional phosphor mixture which can be excited directly by VUV radiation. (FIG.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating at least one low-pressure discharge lamp using an inverter, during the operation of the at least one low-pressure discharge lamp the occurrence of a rectifier effect in the at least one low-pressure discharge lamp being monitored in order to determine the end of its life. For the purpose of monitoring the rectifier effect of the at least one low-pressure discharge lamp, the DC voltage drop across the electrical connections of the at least one low-pressure discharge lamp and the current through the at least one low-pressure discharge lamp are evaluated.
Abstract: Circuit arrangement for operating discharge lamps (LP), having the following features: A power factor correction device (PFC) provides an intermediate circuit voltage; an inverter (INV), which draws its power from the intermediate circuit voltage, outputs power to discharge lamps (LP). According to the invention, an oscillation of the power factor correction device (PFC) only takes place when it is started, by means of a starting device (TRG), by an oscillation of the inverter (INV). This provides cost-effective control of the sequences in the circuit arrangement.

Abstract: The ignition of a gas discharge lamp is followed by a warm-up phase. During warm-up, sufficient power must be converted to enable the lamp to transition to an operating phase. This causes currents flowing at a damaging level into the electrodes in known devices. These high currents are avoided using: a regulation device that regulates the power of connected gas discharge lamps to a desired power; a setting device that limits a lamp current of connected gas discharge lamps to a limit value; a detection device that outputs a signal to the control device if a limit value setting is too low, putting a connected lamp into a state in which the lamp assumes the desired power; and a control device prescribing the limit value for the setting device and increasing the limit value if the detection device sends a signal to the control device.
Abstract: The invention relates to an infrared radiator, whose radiation source is a luminous element emitting light and IR radiation, and whose vessel which surrounds said luminous element is coated with an interference filter which is transparent only to infrared radiation from a specific subrange from the wavelength range of 700 nm to 3500 nm. Electromagnetic radiation outside the subrange is reflected back into the vessel.
