Abstract: An adapter for providing a recessed lamp in a screw-type lampholder. This adapter has an electrical contact-making device, via which an electrical connection is produced between a screw base, which can be introduced into the screw-type lampholder, of the adapter and the recessed lamp once the recessed lamp has been introduced into the adapter. Furthermore, the adapter has a switchable electrical connecting device, via which, in the state in which there is no mechanical connection between an enveloping bulb for the recessed lamp and the adapter, an electrical connection is not produced between the screw base and the recessed lamp, and via which, in the state in which the recessed lamp is surrounded, at least in sections, by the enveloping bulb, an electrical connection is produced between the screw base and the recessed lamp. As a result, the recessed lamp in the adapter can only be operated with the enveloping bulb placed thereon.

Abstract: Method for machining a lamp and a lamp machined by the method, including a lamp bulb, in which an incandescent element with power supply is housed and which defines a chamber for a filling gas which is tightly sealed by a compression seal. According to the invention, after filling, a part of the lamp bulb is heated by introduction of heat, preferably by laser and moulded or refused in order to alter the outer contour of the lamp bulb or tempered.
Abstract: A protective device for a lamp, especially a high-pressure xenon discharge lamp or high-pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp, includes a pressurized lamp vessel and a protective envelope which surrounds the lamps in at least some sections, can be fixed to the lamp by two closures that engage around lamp shafts, and is made of a gas-permeable fleece.
Abstract: The invention relates to a light bulb (1) comprising an illumination body (7), which is inserted, together with a filler material, into a bulb (2) in a vacuum-tight manner. The illumination body (7) has a metal carbide, whose melting point lies above that of tungsten. The current supply (10) is configured in two parts from a first section (6) and a second section (15). The first section is configured integrally with the illumination body (7) and consists of a wire and the second section, which functions as the actual current supply (15) is produced from a highly heat-resistant material.
Abstract: A modular lighting system having a plurality of light modules, which each have a plurality of light modules accommodating at least one light-emitting diode module. The light modules have at least two mounting clearances, which run substantially parallel, and a mounting rod passes through each mounting clearance for mechanical fixing and electrical contact-making purposes. The mounting clearances are formed on the luminaire body. A lighting arrangement of such lighting systems is also disclosed.
Abstract: A ballast having a dimming device for a low-pressure discharge lamp. It has two technically different possibilities for controlling the lamp brightness. The first possibility for controlling the lamp brightness is by means of adjusting the amplitude of the lamp current. The second possibility for brightness control is based on the fact that the low-pressure discharge lamp can be operated with a pulsed lamp current. In particular, both operating modes are used in combination in specific brightness ranges.
