Abstract: A wireless provisioning device (WPD) is a computer data traffic management system capable of routing TCP/IP traffic using unlicensed spectrum equipment. This WPR is to be strategically placed in logical segment regions within a wireless network to facilitate data traffic management. This device acts to provide connectivity between wireless backbone access points. The device may also be located within customer local area network (LAN) while providing connectivity to a wide area network (WAN). The wireless device has seven total wireless segments. The wireless device is capable of filtering IP addresses, spam, pornographic content, steganographic decryption, controlling firewall and/or routing and/or bridging. The increases effective throughput of TCP/IP traffic over the WAN or LAN while providing for secure management and greater connectivity.

Abstract: A container includes a chamber for containing fluid. At least one sensor is disposed within the chamber for sensing a property of fluid in the container. A unit that receives a signal from the sensor communicates with a device that displays the property of the fluid in the container. The container may include first and second chambers. A first sensor is disposed within the first chamber. The first sensor is in contact with fluid in the first chamber. The first sensor senses a volume of fluid in the first chamber. A second sensor is disposed within the second chamber. The second sensor is in contact with fluid in the second chamber. The second sensor senses a volume of fluid in the second chamber. A diverter may direct fluid from an inlet to a bottom portion of the chamber and prevents the fluid from contacting the sensor. A releasable device may prevent fluid from flowing from the first chamber to the second chamber.

Abstract: A load-bearing system is provided which includes a web of sufficient strength to support predetermined loads suspended from the web. The system also includes an array of apertures in the web. The apertures can be elongate slots, and the array may be such that the slots can form plural pairs of slots which can define respective positions. At each of the positions, a pouch may be attached to the web via an attachment arrangement that can form a closed loop through the respective pair of slots.

Abstract: A system and method for targeting advertisements to tenants in a building by providing a portal for a building accessible via the Internet with the portal based upon the specific needs of targeted advertising in the building. Advertisements are received from a user of the portal and the advertisements are distributed to a target audience in the building that is determined based upon historical transaction data for the building. A user is provided with the historical transaction data of previous transactions by tenants in the building. The portal is designed to suit the specific needs of a building.

Abstract: A blood glucose measuring device is equipped with a drill device, attachment assembly, and disposable sensing and measurement assembly. The attachment assembly contains an attachment ring that connects to the drill device and is used to hold the disposable sensing and measurement assembly. A detach actuating cam and output shaft are attached to the drill device. Spring tongs are attached to the output shaft by a compression ring further clamp to an end cap. A skin penetrator is attached to the end cap. The disposable sensing and measurement assembly is enclosed in a disposable case. An outer telescoping anti-bend tube is attached to the end cap. An inner anti-bend capillary sensor tube contains analyte sensors and is attached to the disposable case. The electrical conductors for the analyte sensor electrodes are attached to the capillary sensor tube and thus to the disposable case. An impedance sensing electrode on the bottom of the case provides electrical contacts to the skin.

Abstract: A constant monitoring and recovery system that enables the measurement of task usage/metrics and performance of software-based business applications. These metrics can then be evaluated by logic, in combination with each other and/or a timer, in a distributed environment. This is accomplished with the introduction of an extremely low overhead to the application host. The results of the logic evaluation can cause real-time and real-world responses such as application restart, interaction with load balancing equipment, or notification (via email, pager, etc.). Data can also be persisted to a database for later archival or evaluation, with the ability to reduce granularity over time. Specifically, an application manager monitors business application processes, notifies failure and automatically recovers software based business applications based on the logic of the underlying applications.

Abstract: The present invention resides in a collapsible level comprising a first segment; at least one additional segment, physically independent of the first segment and operable with the first segment to form the level; a leveling vial supported in at least one of the segments; and a linking member operable with the segments to permit the segments to be assembled and to secure an assembled relationship between the segments, as well as to maintain a connection between the segments when disassembled. In an alternative embodiment, the linking member is removed and the segments link together magnetically. The present invention further provides means for longitudinally extending the length of the collapsible level, thereby providing the collapsible level with the ability to level a wide range of shaped and sized surfaces.

Abstract: A system records the movement of people carrying mobile devices within a specific area. A plurality of receivers distributed throughout the specified area monitor the area for wireless communication from a mobile device. Mobile devices are identified by way of a unique identifier, e.g. IMSI, IMEI, MAC address, or similar transmitted on a control channel or the like. Whenever such wireless communication is detected, the direction from which the signal is received is detected. The position of the mobile device (and hence the person carrying it) may be calculated by triangulating results from two or more receiving devices, and the results stored.

Abstract: A novel system and method of video assisted music instrument collaboration over distance. The system and method enable a musician to play a music instrument at one location and have the played music recreated by a music instrument at another location is provided. The system and method can be used to provide distance education for musical instrument instruction and, in this case, each student and instructor of the system has an end point which can connect to other end points in the system to exchange music data, preferably MIDI data, and videoconferencing data through a data network such as the Internet. The system and method can also be used for performances wherein a musician at a first end point plays an instrument and music data, representing the music played, is transferred to a second end point where the music played at the first end point is reproduced and one or more other musicians at the second end point play with the reproduced music in a musical performance.

Abstract: An accessory lock assembly includes a latch assembly, an outer knob assembly mounted on one side of a door panel to connect with the latch assembly, an inner knob assembly mounted on another side of the door panel to connect with the latch assembly, and a lock reinforcing arrangement engaged between the outer and inner knob assemblies to block rotational movements of the outer and inner knob assemblies with the door panel. The inner knob assembly includes an inner actuation unit connecting with the latch assembly and at least a security binding element having a securing end connected to the outer knob assembly and an opposed operating end securely connected to the inner actuation unit within a receiving cavity of a protection shelter in such a manner that the operating end of the connecting element is isolated from outside of the accessory lock assembly by the protection shelter.

Abstract: A female condom is provided that includes a pouch of resilient membranous material and a hydrophilic cling mechanism. According to an embodiment of the invention, the cling mechanism includes three or more foam cling elements attached to an outer surface of the pouch. Upon insertion, the foam cling elements cling lightly to vaginal walls proximate a transition zone between the vagina's introitus and its rugated internal tissue. The foam cling elements may be shaped to permit them to nestle into a user's rugated internal vaginal tissue. An inserter may be coupled to the pouch for facilitating insertion of the condom. The inserter may retain a distal portion of the pouch in a collapsed form. The cling mechanism may be contained within the dissolvable inserter. The inserter may be dissolvable in the presence of vaginal moisture. Methods are also provided for collapsing the pouch and compressing it into an insertion package.

Abstract: A contraceptive or non-contraceptive diaphragm having a rim surrounding a thin membrane, the membrane having a cervical dome extending downwardly from a posterior portion of the membrane. The rim has a spring member having non-uniform bending characteristics. The shape of the spring member can be contoured to provide a rim that curves slightly upwardly at the anterior end of the diaphragm and slightly downwardly at its posterior end.

Abstract: The invention provides improved methods for measuring enzymatic activities involved in the oxidative and non-oxidative pentose phosphate pathways, and other thiamine pyrophosphate containing enzymes, which are commonly elevated in tumor cells. The assays of the invention are useful for optimizing therapeutic dosing and scheduling of drugs acting on the pentose phosphate pathways by sampling and monitoring enzymatic levels in a treated patient over time. Finally, the assays are useful for identifying and characterizing compounds having beneficial therapeutic effects.

Abstract: Chimeric nonhuman mammals useful as inducible spontaneous cancer models are disclosed. The nonhuman mammals are obtained by introducing one or more genetically modified embryonic stem (ES) cells into an early stage embryo, and then implanting the manipulated embryo into a surrogate mother. The ES cells contain a recombinant oncogene, and also may contain a genetic mutation that deletes or inactivates a tumor suppressor gene. Models of different types of cancer are produced by introducing different combinations of genetic mutations into the ES cells that are introduced into the early stage embryo.

Abstract: Message delivery approaches are disclosed through which senders can guarantee that their messages are desired by intended recipients. In one embodiment, a Sender agrees with a Service Operator to pay a fine for each message that is reported as an unwanted by its Recipient. For senders that agree in advance to pay such fines, Service Operators may provide preferential message routing around “spam” filters knowing that a guarantee is in place. If the Recipient reports that the message is unwanted, the Service Operator can penalize the Sender by a fine in the agreed amount, or by modifying a bond ratio value, rating, or other experience value associated with the Sender. Estimates of the complaints expected for a Sender may be used to determine the outcomes of the tests applied by the Receiver.

Abstract: A target software behavior pattern recognition and analysis tool is disclosed that operates during the real-time execution of monitored target software on a computer, derives a subset of measurements indicating the target software performance and activity, automatically derives a baseline from the subset of measurements, and establishes a state of health of the target software based on comparing real-time measurements to the baseline. The monitored target software contains an agent for deriving a subset of measurements indicating the target software performance and activity. The agent includes sensors embedded into the target software to measure specific code segments, and an examiner which receives measurements from the sensors and transmits these examiner values to a central server. The central server automatically derives a baseline from the received examiner values, and automatically establishes a state of health of the target software based on comparing real-time measurements to the baseline.

Abstract: A combination lock includes a lock body, a locking latch, a numerical actuation unit including a plurality of number rotors and a plurality of locking rings, and a password reset unit. The password reset unit includes a reset driver slidably extended at the lock body to couple with the locking rings, wherein when the reset driver is moved to drive the locking rings to slidably disengage with number rotors, the number rotors are free to rotate on the lock body to reset a new number-combination, such that when the reset driver is released that the locking rings are slidably returned back within the number rotors, the detachable end of the locking latch is unlocked once the number rotors are rotated at the new number-combination.

Abstract: The present invention provides a configuration of a hard drive enclosure system and method for manufacture in which a polymer including electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI shielding) properties is configured such that shielding gaskets may be reduced or eliminated completely. Patterned honeycomb “tubes” are molded into the front wall of the front panel providing access to the interior of the front plate, and allowing ventilation. Other EMI shielding cuts may be molded or stamped into the sides of the disk-drive enclosure and raised tab structures allow the enclosure to be placed in an array. The container is generally stamped, molded or extruded from Premier® or another EMI-shielding polymer material that provides sufficient EMI shielding.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the invention relates to an adaptive engine for creating provisioning policies and rules for network storage provisioning, which can be driven by service level objectives. The service level objectives can be defined for a given quality of service (“QoS”) for one or more users or user groups, file systems, databases, or applications, or classes of file systems, databases, or applications. In addition, the service level objectives can define the cost, availability, time to provision, recoverability, performance and accessibility objectives for the file system, database or application.
