Abstract: A needle selection device including a plurality of push jacks respectively mounted in the needle slots of the needle cylinder of a circular knitting machine, a plurality of lifting bars respectively mounted in the needle slots and selectively driven by the push jacks to lift respective needles, and an electromagnetic device mounted on the cam of the circular knitting machine and moved by it to pass from one lifting bar to another, wherein each lifting bar is balanced in one needle slot on a fulcrum at its center and moved by the electromagnetic device between a first position in which the lifting bar will be driven by the respective push jack to lift the respective needle, and a second position in which the lifting bar will not be driven by the respective push jack to lift the respective needle.
Abstract: A rib jacquard knitting machine including dial needles arranged on the dial, cylinder needles arranged on the needle cylinder to knit loops with the dial needles, transfer needles and pelerine needles respectively arranged on the needle cylinder to make transfer stitches and eyelet stitches. A knit selector selectively drives the pelerine needles and the transfer needles into operative positions.
Abstract: A fabric holding-down sinker for a double knit machine to stop the knitted fabric from being lifted during the raising stitch of the cylinder needles. A series of such presser sinkers are reciprocated radially relative to the cylinder needles, each presser sinker having a projecting sinker head horizontally disposed at a front end. The projecting sinker head is moved to a front limit position spaced above a topmost edge of a fabric formation surface of the knitting machine at a distance equal to the thickness of the fabric being knitted during the raising stitch of the respective cylinder needle, preventing the knitted fabric from being lifted by the cylinder needles.
Abstract: A selecting mechanism for a circular knitting machine, including a hollow base, which holds pairs of selecting jacks at different elevations, and a selecting jack pushing-up device detachably fastened to the hollow base to hold pairs of pushing-up plates, wherein each pushing-up plate has a nose turned about a respective pivot between two alternative positions for controlling the positions of the pairs of selecting jacks for a full-stitch, half-stitch, or plain-stitch operation.
Abstract: A circular knitting machine includes a loop cutting mechanism to cut the loops made by the relative movement of the dial needles and cylinder needles, the loop cutting mechanism including a first sinker and a second sinker reciprocated horizontally along two opposite sides of either cylinder needle at a time difference, the first sinker having a smooth front sloping end moved to hold down the loop, the second sinker having a front sloping end turned sideways toward the first sinker and moved along the respective cylinder needle at an opposite side after the first sinker to cut the loop.
Abstract: A double knit machine which includes a series of sinker assemblies disposed corresponding to the cylinder needles of the machine for holding down the knitted fabric during the raising stitch of the cylinder needles, each sinker assembly comprised of a fixed sinker having a sinker rib for guiding out the knitted fabric, and a presser sinker reciprocated by the cam drive of the machine, the presser sinker being moved forward to press the knitted fabric against the sinker rib of the respective fixed sinker as the respective cylinder needle is extended out, or moved backward to release from the knitted fabric as the respective cylinder needle is received back.
Abstract: A cable television system provides television signals in multiple predefined television signal formats. Each television has a multi-standard receiver for receiving television signals in those predefined television signal formats. Hidden behind each television, or elsewhere out of view of the user, is a converter coupling the respective television to a transmission cable. The only connection from the converter to the television is a cable connected to the television's cable or antenna input port. Each television includes a raster scan CRT and CRT control circuitry that controls the raster scan sweep pattern of the electron beams generated by the CRT. The CRT control circuitry includes a horizontal scan synchronization circuit that synchronizes each horizontal sweep of the CRT electron beams with a horizontal synchronization signal in the received television signal, and generates a distinctive transient voltage signal at the beginning of each horizontal sweep of the CRT electron beams.
Abstract: The stereophonic system of the invention comprises two tweeters (12, 13) fixed to the front panel, and a low-frequency loudspeaker (4) fixed to an enclosure (6) inside the back of the cabinet. It is thus possible to use a large low-frequency loudspeaker.

Abstract: A printed circuit board in a television set casing is repaired without the connectors of this board getting shifted with respect to the holes of the rear cover, and without this board being damaged when the television set undergoes shocks or falls. The board is placed in a U-shaped strap, the arms of which are clipped on to the cover with the strap having L-shaped lugs which are simply pushed into holes of the casing, thus forming a hinged link between the board and the casing.

Abstract: The specification discloses an apparatus and method for separating liquid droplets carried in a gas wherein the gas is conducted at a subsonic velocity below about Mach 0.7 through a conduit, the walls of which define successive, generally oppositely directed arcuate bends to cause transverse movement of the droplets toward and into contact with the walls by centrifugal force and in a manner which avoids conditions giving rise to flow separation and any attendant turbulence and pressure drop. The walls include a porous medium covering at least a portion of the surface thereof and through which liquid directed against the wall is withdrawn from the conduit. According to one aspect of the invention, a porous medium is provided on the stator blades of a turbine power generator to enable removal of accumulated liquid thereon and thereby reduce rotor blade erosion and power losses associated with dribble from the stator blades onto the rotor blades.

Abstract: A scrambling and descrambling system and method for the video and/or audio portions of a broadcast TV signal, for example, broadcast by cable, microwave or communication satellite, includes a telephone modem at the descrambling receiver decoder box which is periodically, for example once per month for a few seconds, connected to a central computer of the head end operator. The decsrambling decoder box is enabled to receive the telephone call by a digital identification code broadcast periodically and associated with each decoder box. Each decoder box has a digital serial number in its Read-Only Memory (ROM) portion of its CPU (central processing unit) and an Electrically Alterable Read-Only Memory (EAROM) containing an alterable look-up table having for each program code a corresponding descrabling code to enable the descrambler.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for learning about the relationships and personalities among a group of participating persons, wherein a plurality of players can utilize tokens on a board in combination with a plurality of color cubes, scoring sticks, secret answer wheels, and question cards in the preferred embodiment of the invention. Scoring and the movement of the tokens is controlled by a combination of chance and the participating persons' knowledge of each other, as revealed by the secret answering of questions related to the present and future feelings and intentions of given persons chosen to be participants. Scoring is noted by insertion of relationship sticks into color cubes located on the tokens. The color personalities of the participating persons are reflected in individual participating person's sequential choice of color cubes for that person's token and thus affects the content of questions to be asked and answered relating to the personality of the participant.
Abstract: A convergence adjustment device for color video-projectors having three monochrome tubes, each projecting an image of a give color on a screen. This device acts on the scanning of the second and third tubes for superimposing, on the screen, their images on that of the first tube. This device is of the digital type. It comprises a RAM in which correction values are stored corresponding to correction of the scanning currents for the different zones into which the image is divided. These values are restored in synchronism with the scanning of the zones during normal operation. The device also comprises a microprocessor for modifying, during the adjustment phase, the stored values as a function of the ordes issued by the user who makes this adjustment by observing the image. The user's actions in a manual mode affect only a single one of the zones. In an automatic mode, adjustments are effective on groups of zones.
