Abstract: A golf mat includes a frame having a central channel between left and right side shoulders. A hitting pad, such as an artificial turf pad, is slidable within or on the central channel. At least one elastic element, such as a rubber cord, extends laterally across the channel, and with the elastic element attached directly or indirectly to the artificial turf pad. Impact of the golf club head on the pad causes the pad to slide forward, absorbing impact forces and providing a feel to the golfer closer to hitting off of real grass. The elastic element decelerates the pad, and returns to the pad to its original position after the impact. The elastic element may be an elastic cord having plugged or knotted ends secured between inner and outer walls of the side shoulders of the frame.
Abstract: A luminescent end indicating tape comprising one or more base layers and an adhesive layer is disclosed. The one or more base layers provide support to the adhesive layer, whereas the adhesive layer comprises one or more fluorescent materials that convert at least a portion of incident electromagnetic radiation to a longer output wavelength. The adhesive layer redirects at least a portion of the longer output wavelength to at least an end of the tape, such that the end is illuminated with that of at least a portion of the longer output wavelength upon the tape being exposed to incident electromagnetic radiation. Further disclosed are methods of fabricating and using the luminescent end indicating tape.

Abstract: An object is formed on a component with a positive flash shut-off during insert molding operations. The mold has a base with a cavity and a port that delivers a liquid to the cavity. The base has a component support structure for supporting the component and pockets formed on opposite sides of the cavity. The pockets are slightly spaced apart from the cavity by thin partitions. Inserts located in the pockets and are formed from a polymer. Both the partitions and inserts comprise the component support structure. The inserts have a dimension that is smaller than that of the base and partitions so as to form a compression fit around the component to reduce or eliminate flash down the component during the molding process.
Abstract: An exercise machine includes loading contact surfaces. An actuator is configured to adjust a position of the loading contact surface. A user controls the actuator through a user interface to adjust the loading contact surface's position in a first exercise session. A processor is configured to automatically monitor the loading contact surface's position as adjusted by the user in the first exercise session, and to automatically control the actuator to move the loading contact surface in a subsequent session to the same or a different position as in the previous session.
Abstract: A carburetor attachment assembly for improved engine performance including an airflow crown and a mating air cleaner base. The air flow crown is adapted to detachably mount atop a carburetor and has a contoured intake surface that guides and directs airflow into the mouth of the carburetor. The airflow crown's intake surface is configured to merge with the sidewalls of the induction bores to form a smooth continuous surface around the mouth of the carburetor and induction bores, which helps facilitate laminar airflow and redirection of the intake air flow downward into the carburetor.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for the manufacture of a multilayer silicone structure of cured silicone elastomer layers wherein the compositions of each of the curable silicone elastomers are chosen such as to provide excellent layer-to-layer adhesion of the said cured silicone elastomer layers, that is, the layers do not suffer form cohesive failure. The multilayer silicone structures may be used for example for the manufacture of electronic devices, coatings, shaped molded articles, laminates etc.

Abstract: The present invention provides wood preservative compositions comprising micronized particles. In one embodiment, the composition comprises dispersions of micronized metal or metal compounds. In another embodiment, the wood preservative composition comprises an inorganic component comprising a metal or metal compound and organic biocide. When the composition comprises an inorganic component and an organic biocide, the inorganic component or the organic biocide or both are present as micronized particles. When compositions of the present invention are used for preservation of wood, there is minimal leaching of the metal and biocide from the wood.
Abstract: A junction transistor, comprising, on a substrate an emitter layer, a collector layer, and a base layer that comprises a graphene layer, wherein an emitter barrier layer is arranged between the base layer and the emitter layer, and a collector barrier layer is arranged between the base and the collector layers and adjacent to the graphene layer, characterized in that the collector barrier layer is a compositionally graded material layer, which has an electron affinity that decreases in a direction pointing from the base layer to the collector layer.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are materials and methods for reducing, preventing, or eliminating the biological contamination of surfaces in spaces that are reasonably partitioned, defined or contained. A reagent that includes peroxides or molecules that includes peroxide bonds are contacted with at least one surface of an article. Some of these methods include disinfection within an apparatus and may include the step of volatilizing the peroxide bond containing agent, through, for example, vapor pressure and vaporization or evaporation effects, the addition of volatilization aids, or passive or assisted diffusion at modest temperatures and relatively long exposure times measured in some embodiments on the order of hours, days, or months.
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for removing halogens and sulfur from used oil. The used oil is heated and aerated, followed by rapid vaporization and cooling. The cooled oil is then subjected to an electrical field before being filtered.
