Abstract: A method for producing a nanotip from a tip material provides a substrate which consists of the tip material or has the material in the form of a coating, produces a mask from a mask material selected so that, in a predefined reactive ion etching process, the mask material is removed at a lower etching rate than the tip material, and carries out the reactive ion etching process in an etching chamber. The mask material is additionally selected so that a gaseous component is released therefrom during the reactive ion etching process, the gaseous component not being released from the tip material. The method further comprises detecting the gaseous component while the ion etching process is being carried out, repeatedly determining whether an amount of the gaseous component in the etching chamber reaches a predefined lower threshold, and stopping the reactive ion etching process when the lower threshold is reached.

Abstract: A tolerance ring can include a generally cylindrical body having a first partial-cylindrical sidewall and a second partial-cylindrical sidewall opposite the first partial-cylindrical sidewall. Each partial-cylindrical sidewall defines a first end and a second end. Further, a first gap can be established between the first end of the first partial-cylindrical sidewall and the first end of the second partial-cylindrical sidewall after installation around a post. The first gap can extend along the entire length of the tolerance ring such that a split is formed in the tolerance ring. The tolerance ring can also include a second gap between the second end of the first partial-cylindrical sidewall and the second end of the second partial-cylindrical sidewall. The second gap can extend along the entire length of the tolerance ring such that a split is formed in the tolerance ring. The tolerance ring can provide an installed concentricity, C, ?50 ?m.
Abstract: An optic configuration including a PCBA with one or more LEDs mounted thereon to emit light through a lens and a reflector. The optic configuration may be assembled within a cavity of a lighting fixture. At least a portion of the emitted light may be subtended by the lens, such that the lens may subtend light through a number of regions (e.g., three distinct regions). At least a portion of the emitted light may be subtended by the reflector, such that the reflector may subtend light from a number of surfaces (e.g., four surfaces). At least a portion of the light subtended by the lens may further be subtended by the reflector. The light subtended by the lens and/or the reflector may form a beam pattern including a high intensity spot portion and a lower intensity flood portion.
Abstract: Mating interfaces between an air intake housing and an air filter are disclosed. According to one embodiment, an air filter assembly having a mating interface for coupling an air intake housing to the air filter may include an air filter having an exterior, an interior, and outlet; and a mating interface coupled to a circumference of the outlet of the air filter. The mating interface may include an opening for receiving an end of an air tube that is in communication with the interior of the air filter; and a groove in a surface of the mating interface for press-fit receiving a first opening an air filter housing that surrounds the air filter.
Abstract: A liquid recovery filter assembly for recovering filtered liquid trapped within a core or downstream side of a filter element. Multiple embodiments each include a recovery port and a recovery filter in fluid communication with the core or downstream side of the filter element. The recovery port is opened following filtration operations to permit and to facilitate filtered liquid to flow from a downstream or outlet port, thus allowing recovery of liquid remaining in the filter core or downstream side following filtering operations. The recovery filter permits the introduction of pressurized gas to force the filtered liquids from the filter assembly without compromising the sterility and/or non-contaminant condition of the liquid.
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to solar control films containing a photochromic layer. For example, in certain embodiments, a solar control film includes a photochromic layer comprising an inorganic photochromic material and an infrared control layer.
Abstract: A midspan power over Ethernet (“PoE”) injector (20) connects via LAN cables (514) to remote PDs (518). Each cable (514) has a remote end; and a midspan end (516). The cables (514) includes receiving and transmitting conductors, and insulated electrical conductors. The injector (20) includes pairs of sockets (24) a first socket (24) of each pair is a powered socket, and a second socket (24) is unpowered and carries only data. A data-signal bus (188) interconnects the unpowered and powered sockets. Power switches (156), equal in number to the socket pairs, connect respectively to one of the powered sockets (24). Without negotiating with a PD (518) connected by the cable (514) to the powered socket (24), a controller (34) causes switches (156) to close thereby transmitting electrical power via the powered socket (24) connected thereto and the cable (514) mated therewith to the PD (518). The controller (34) also concurrently monitors operational status: a. of each connected PD (518); and b.

Abstract: An assembly includes an adjustable dip tube that can selectively withdraw an isolated component at various heights within a vessel. The adjustable nature of the dip tube can improve the cell recovery rate as compared to conventional cell recovery assemblies. Additionally, the assembly can take advantage of the adjustable nature of the dip tube while maintaining an aseptic interior cavity of the assembly.
Abstract: The liquid recovery filter includes several embodiments, each of which provides for the recovery of liquid otherwise trapped within the filter housing and element. Each embodiment includes a series of vents, purge ports, and passages that communicate fluidly with the filter housing and filter core. Certain vents and purge ports are initially opened following filtration operations to allow pressurized gas to flow into the housing, thereby forcing residual unfiltered liquid through the filter. When this has been accomplished, another vent is opened to the filter core to allow filtered liquid to flow from the downstream or outlet passage from the filter core. Some embodiments have the filter outlet located above the filter, and include a downstream drain port extending from the filter core. The downstream drain port provides for the recovery of filtered liquid when the vent or purge port is opened in these embodiments.
Abstract: A hydrophilic siloxane copolymer of siloxane and hydrophilic organic monomer/s The copolymers can be functionalized to make them capable of undergoing further polymerization by thermal or actinic radiations. The hydrophilicity of these polymers can be varied by varying the siloxane versus organic monomer ratio thereby going from water dispersible to soluble states. The siloxane content can be tuned accordingly in order to provide moderate to high oxygen permeability. These copolymers can be used as a single component curable composition which results in hydrogels to minimize the presence of leachable components thus by reducing the processing cost. The polymers may also find applications in personal care formulations as copolymers, film-formers, hydrogels, coating, emulsions/latex etc.
