There is provided a method for preparing at least one ester polyol ester, the method comprising esterifying an ester polyol reaction mixture to produce ester polyol, the reaction mixture comprising an ozone acid mixture and at least one primary polyol, wherein the ozone acid mixture comprises at least one dicarboxylic acid and at least one monocarboxylic acid; and capping the ester polyol with at least one capping carboxylic acid to produce ester polyol ester.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for removing carbon dioxide from hydrocarbons, the method comprising the steps of: (a) contacting a feed stream comprising hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide with one or more gas-separation membranes to produce a hydrocarbon-rich retentate gas stream and a permeate gas stream rich in carbon dioxide, the retentate gas stream containing less carbon dioxide relative to the feed stream; and (b) passing at least one of the retentate gas stream or the permeate gas stream through an absorption unit to produce a hydrocarbon-rich gas phase and a liquid absorbent phase containing said carbon dioxide. The present disclosure also relates to a system for doing the same.

The range of feedstock includes non-fractionated to fully fractionated feedstock. Performing some fractionation by distillation of the fatty acids derived from feedstock eliminates the need to fractionate the various ozone esters from each other before esterification. Further, the approach of the present invention is more economical and efficient than the conventional method of fractionation by crystallization.
