Abstract: A machine-readable information carrier (2) contains content (video, audio, photographs, software, data; 20A; 20B) with restricted access, wherein at least one portion (23) of the content is a restricted portion. The information carrier (2) further contains data (21) associated with the said content, the data (21) representing a machine-executable access application which contains machine-executable instructions for a reader device (3, 3A) for controlling the reader device's access to the content of said carrier. The access application (21) is designed, when the reader device attempts an access to the restricted portion (23) of the content, to check authorization of the reader device, and to deny access to information in the said restricted portion (23) of the content if it finds that the reader device is unauthorized or to allow access to information in the said restricted portion (23) of the content if it finds that the reader device is authorized.

  • Patent number: 7402815
Abstract: A system reverses degraded energy resolution of semiconductor radiation detection elements (44) which are used in a radiation detector assembly. A means (38) identifies semiconductor elements which exhibit degraded energy resolution as compared to an initial level of energy resolution after application of the forward bias. A means (40) restores the degraded semiconductor elements to the initial level of energy resolution by applying the reverse bias. A heater (74) accelerates the restoration process by supplying an elevated ambient temperature. A screening means (48) screens new semiconductor elements to identify the elements which are susceptible to degradation. A forward bias is applied by a forward bias means (50) to induce the degradation. A heater (52) increases an ambient temperature to accelerate the performance degradation in the new semiconductor elements. The identified degradable elements are treated with a reverse bias prior to installation in the detector.

  • Patent number: 7403005
Abstract: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a plurality of radio frequency coils (34) that acquire variable density sensitivity encoded data that is undersampled at least away from the center of k-space. A reconstruction processor (52) for each coil reconstructs: a regularization image reconstructed from a higher density portion of the variable density sensitivity encoded data disposed at or near a center of k-space acquired by that coil; and a folded image reconstructed from the variable density sensitivity encoded data acquired by that coil. An unfolding processor (66) unfolds the folded images. The unfolding is regularized by the regularization images.

  • Patent number: 7402707
Abstract: The synthesis of a precursor oligocene, particularly pentacene, is a two-step process. In the first step the Diels-Alder adduct of the a,b-dihydro-a,b-etheno-oligocene with a 1,1-dialkoxy-cyclopentadiene is formed. In the second step this Diels-Alder adduct is converted into the precursor oligocene, in that first the corresponding keto-compound is formed, which may be eliminated thereafter. The resulting precursor oligocene can be converted to the oligocene with a heat treatment, particularly after providing a solution hereof on a substrate. It is suitable for use as semiconductor material in a thin-film transistor. Formula (I).

  • Patent number: 7403591
Abstract: A control processor (30) causes the drives (22, 24, 26) of a mechanical arm scanner to move an x-ray source (12) and a detector along an elliptical trajectory (50). The trajectory can be customized (38) to deviate from a true mathematical ellipse or to be only an arc segment. As the x-ray source and detector move along the trajectory, a large multiplicity of projection images are generated, at least when a contrast agent is present in the region-of-interest. A selectable limited subset of the generated projection images are selected for display in order to make an angiographic diagnosis.

  • Patent number: 7403004
Abstract: Multi-slice magnetic resonance imaging of a region of interest of an imaging subject (16) is performed using a radio frequency coil (40) arranged to generate a B1 magnetic field in the region of interest. One or more processors (44, 82, 88, 110) determine a B1 field value for each slice that is representative of the B1 field over a selected area of the slice, accounting for subject effects on the BI field, and determine an adjusted per-slice radio frequency excitation for each slice that adjusts the B1 field value for the slice to a selected value. A magnetic resonance imaging system (10, 44, 46, 50, 52) acquires magnetic resonance imaging data for each slice using the adjusted per-slice radio frequency excitation for that slice. A reconstruction processor (58) reconstructs the acquired magnetic resonance imaging data into a reconstructed image representation.

  • Patent number: 7403587
Abstract: The invention relates to a computer tomography method in which an examination area is passed through by a cone-shaped bundle of rays. The bundle of rays comes from a radiation source location which moves around the examination area on an overall trajectory. The overall trajectory consists of a first, closed partial trajectory, at least one second, closed partial trajectory and at least one third partial trajectory which connects the first and the at least one second partial trajectories to one another. Measured values which depend on the intensity in the bundle of rays on the other side of the examination area are acquired by means of a detector unit while the radiation source location is moving on the overall trajectory, and a CT image of the examination area is reconstructed from these measured values.

  • Patent number: 7403138
Abstract: Presently known codes have long trains consisting of 2T runs that reduce the performance of the bit detector. By using a code with an RMTR constraint of 2 an improvement in the bit detection is achieved. A code constructed is a systematic way that provides an RMTR constraint of 2 is presented. Several variations of such a code are disclosed where one or more sub-codes are used, where coding states are divided into coding classes and where code words are divided into code word types. Then, for a given sub-code, a code word type t can be concatenated with a code word of the next sub-code if the subsequent code word of the next sub-code belongs to one of coding states of the coding class with index Tmax+1?t.
