  • Patent number: 4201511
Abstract: An improvement to large container handlers having a transportable platform. A powered positionable support arm is pivotally mounted on one end to the platform for vertical rotation. A L-shaped arm is pivotally mounted from the other end of the support arm to be vertically rotatable. A container gripping device is suspended from the L-shaped arm. • Patent number: 4194365
Abstract: A control system for stopping a hydraulic motor in a predetermined position comprises a valve connected in parallel across the motor, the valve having a closed position and an open position in which flow is via a throttle orifice. When the motor is being driven normally the valve is closed. When the main control regulator for the motor is moved to stop the motor, the valve is automatically opened to allow limited fluid flow through the motor during a slowing down phase. A detector senses when the motor is a predetermined distance from its desired stopping position, and moves the valve to its closed position. Overload valves are provided to prevent overpressures.

  • Patent number: 4171732
Abstract: Apparatus for fixing and driving a displacement member (such as a wheel) of a vehicle is disclosed. In particular, an axle journal is coupled to the vehicle chassis. At least one rotating bearing surface is disposed between the displacement member and the axle journal for the rotatable assembly of the displacement member. A drive motor is provided having a stator which is removably attached to the axle journal and a rotor which is removably mounted to rotate with respect to the stator by means of rotating bearings in contact with the bearing surface. Since the rotating bearings of the motor only contact the removable bearing surface, the motor can be dismantled while maintaining the displacement member in place on the axle journal.

  • Patent number: 4084777
Abstract: Stabilization apparatus for a tower crane or other mobile equipment includes several telescopic structures. Each structure includes an inner telescopic part and an outer telescopic part and an actuator for moving the parts to a fully extended position. The inner telescopic part carries a plate which is applied in use to the ground and is controlled by a secondary telescopic structure. When the main telescopic structure is extended there is some sag so that a detector intended to indicate achievement of the extended position is not actuated.
