Publication number: 20140254958Abstract: The present invention is directed to a drawstring bag comprised from a first panel and a second panel. The first panel and the second panel are joined along a first side, a bottom, and a second side. The first panel and the second panel thereby define an upper opening of the bag. The drawstring bag may further comprise a first hem located along the upper opening of the bag in the first panel and a first drawstring may be disposed within the first hem. The first drawstring may be manufactured from a drawtape film subjected to a cold-stretch process.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2013Publication date: September 11, 2014Applicant: Poly-America, L.P.Inventor: Brad A. Patent number: 8702308Abstract: The present invention is directed toward an improved construction of an elastic drawstring trash bag. The elastic drawstring trash bag described herein is comprised of a plastic bag made from two panels. An elastic drawstring is provided within hems running along the top of the two panels. The upper opening of the elastic drawstring bag is reduced (when the bag is in a relaxed state) by decreasing the distance between the interior edges of the short seals used to weld the drawstrings and bag together. Like an ordinary non-elastic drawstring bag, the elastic drawstring is pulled through access cutouts centrally located along the upper edge of the bag. When the bag of the present invention is in a relaxed state, the reduced upper opening width of the elastic drawstring bag is therefore less than bag proper width, allowing a consumer to pull the elastic drawstring bag over the lip of a trash receptacle and allowing the elastic drawstrings to snugly fit around the trash can.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2008Date of Patent: April 22, 2014Assignee: Poly-America, L.P.Inventor: Michael A. Patent number: 8523439Abstract: The present invention relates to polymeric bags, particularly polymeric drawstring trash bags. The present invention comprises a trash bag having an elastic drawstring. The elastic drawstring trash bag features a short seal and an inner seal at each upper corner of the drawstring trash bag. The short seal and inner seal are separated by a small unsealed area. The inner seal serves to reduce the upper opening of the drawstring trash bag, while the elastic drawstring utilized with the bag provides a bag that allows the bag to fit snugly on many common trash receptacles.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2009Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Assignee: Poly-America, L.P.Inventor: Michael A. Patent number: 8357440Abstract: The present invention provides for a plastic sheet, especially one used in the construction of a plastic trash bag, which provides improved tear propagation properties. The plastic sheet has a plurality of protuberances in the plastic sheet, the protuberances defining a first set of substantially parallel curvilinear lines in a first direction, and optionally, a second set of curvilinear lines in a second direction. The plurality of protuberances can be either indentations or protrusions in the plastic sheet, preferably formed through an embossing process. Preferably, the protuberances are circular in shape, but not necessarily uniform, and alternate between indentations and protrusions along the first, and possibly the second, curvilinear lines with the curvilinear lines preferably being wave-shaped.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2007Date of Patent: January 22, 2013Assignee: Poly-America, L.P.Inventor: George M Hall
