Abstract: The present invention describes various embodiments of a drawstring bag. The drawstring bag is generally constructed from a first panel and a second panel continuously joined along a first side edge, a bottom, and a second side edge with the top of the panels generally defining the open top of the bag. The bags feature drawstrings extending along the open top of the bag. The drawstrings may exhibit elastic-like properties or be manufactured of elastic materials. First and second short seals anchor the ends of the drawstrings to the sides of the bag. In certain embodiments, the present invention will have one or more reduced opening seals proximate to the short seals. The reduced opening seals are generally opposite the side edges of the bag with respect to the short seals. The reduced opening seals may be substantially oval in shape. Furthermore, the reduced opening seals may be vertically oriented with the sides of the bag or oriented at an angle to the sides.

  • Patent number: 7753666
Abstract: An apparatus and method for cooling a molten plastic film tube exiting the outlet of an extrusion die is disclosed. The apparatus includes an inlet passage adapted to direct cooling air through the extrusion die to the interior of the plastic film tube. The apparatus includes at least one air dispensing device coupled to the inlet passage. The air dispensing device is configured to receive the cooling air and to direct a flow of the cooling air out of the air dispensing device in an approximately circumferential or tangential direction. The circumferential or tangential flow of the inlet air inside the plastic film tube cools the molten tube while reducing impact on the molten tube.

  • Publication number: 20090003738
Abstract: The present invention provides for a plastic sheet, especially one used in the construction of a plastic trash bag, which provides improved tear propagation properties. The plastic sheet has a plurality of protuberances in the plastic sheet, the protuberances defining a first set of substantially parallel curvilinear lines in a first direction, and optionally, a second set of curvilinear lines in a second direction. The plurality of protuberances can be either indentations or protrusions in the plastic sheet, preferably formed through an embossing process. Preferably, the protuberances are circular in shape, but not necessarily uniform, and alternate between indentations and protrusions along the first, and possibly the second, curvilinear lines with the curvilinear lines preferably being wave-shaped.

  • Publication number: 20080187254
Abstract: The present invention is a high capacity lobed plastic bag with additional length for securely storing trash, debris and/or other materials produced from a polymeric tube. The polymeric tube defines the outer wall of the plastic bag with an upper end and a lower end. The lower end of the polymeric tube is sealed to form the bottom of the plastic bag. The upper end of the polymeric tube defines the opening of the plastic bag and features a curvilinear configuration. The bag according to the present invention overcomes the length and capacity constraints of the prior art and has a length greater than 41 inches from the bottom of the bag to a lowest point defined by the curvilinear configuration at the opening of the plastic bag. Thus, the plastic bag with a length greater than 41 inches has an increased capacity.
