Abstract: Foamed film compositions using chemical blowing agents and produced by continuous blown film extrusion or cast film extrusion of polymer foams. The composition has small cell size and is suitable for the production of thin film articles. The articles may be monolayer or multilayered structures.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for producing a cross-linked polyolefin foam in a continuous process using standard processing equipment without using a moisture cross-linking step after processing. In this method, a vinyl functional silane compound is melt grafted onto a low density polyethylene in the presence of a free radical generator. The resulting silane grafted polyethylene resin is mixed and melted with a blowing agent in a continuous process in the presence of water to form a vinyl functional silane foam.

Abstract: A landscape stake system comprises an improved stake and a hammer cap. The stake comprises a tapered lower region and an intermediate region. Preferably, the intermediate region comprises an I-beam format to provide reinforcement of the stake to prevent cracking of the stake during insertion of the stake into the ground. An upper region of the stake comprises a first U-shaped channel that is configured to receive a portion of a landscape edging board. The upper region of the stake further comprises a plurality of horizontal grooves and apertures configured to receive a fastener. The hammer cap comprises a substantially horizontal surface that is configured to receive the head of a hammer and a pair of vertical legs that form second channel and are configured to receive the upper region of the stake.

Abstract: A slack cable storage system is provided which stores slack cable under a fiber access terminal or pedestal and provides support for the terminal or pedestal. The slack cable is thus stored under the terminal and is available for splicing or restoration of service. Abstract: Devices capable of protecting electronic components during the occurrence of a disturbance event using printed circuit board manufacturing techniques. A three (3) layer structure is formed comprising a polymer-based formulation sandwiched between two electrode layers. The devices can be manufactured in panel form providing high quantities of devices which can be removed from the panel and applied directly to the component to be protected. Desired patterns can be formed on either one of the electrode layers by photo-etch techniques thereby providing a process that can be tailored to a large number of applications.
Abstract: A cross-linked thermoplastic polyurea is formed by heating a mixture containing a thermoplastic urethane base material, a monomeric and/or polymeric di-isocyanate comprising between 1 to 10% of the total weight of the mixture, and a diamine comprising between 1 to 10% of the total weight of the mixture. A thermoplastic polyurethane may be formed by substituting hydroquinone for the diamine. The mixture is heated to a temperature within the range of 250° F. to 550° F. The heated mixture, which is flowable, is then injected into at least one injection molding device. The mixture is then cured at a temperature between 150° F. to 250° F. for a period of time between 2 and 36 hours. The cross-linked thermoplastic polyurethane/polyurea retains the excellent flowability characteristics of a thermoplastic urethane while the same time exhibits good abrasion, tensile strength, rebound, and compression set characteristics which are similar to those found in thermoset urethanes.

Abstract: A transportable system for separating materials in a waste stream. An arrangement of separation and grinding devices is mounted on a transportable platform. The devices are configured and arranged to produce three or more product streams from a plastic-rich feed mixture. One of the product streams is a coarse heavy stream, one stream is a ground plastic-rich product stream, and one stream is a ground light material stream. The system can be transported to a waste-goods location, operated to separate waste-goods, and relocated a new location.

Abstract: A thermoplastic elastomer that is adherent to polar materials may be made from a dynamically vulcanized blend of propylene resin, ethylene/alpha-olefin/non-conjugated diene elastomers, and a bonding agent via a curing system containing a free radical initiator, at least one co-agent including multifunctional acrylates containing at least two acrylate groups, multifunctional maleimides containing at least two imide groups, or mixtures of both, where the elastomer gel content in the modified blend is at least about 97 percent. Abstract: The present invention relates to a heat-sealable film which consists essentially of a cycloolefin copolymer (COC), the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the COC being within the range from 30 to 55° C. The film or sheet has excellent low temperature heat-sealing properties and processing characteristics. The film may be free standing or laminated to other thermoplastic polymer film or films at low temperatures. Alternatively, a COC polymer with Tg in the range 30 to 55° C. may be coextruded with other thermoplastic polymer or polymer films in a coextrusion process to form a heat sealable film. The film of the invention is suitable for packing foods or other consumable items.
Abstract: A photosensitive resin laminate for a sign board is provided, which laminate has a support and a photosensitive resin layer having a thickness of not less than 500 ?m formed at least on the support via an adhesive layer, wherein the photosensitive resin layer has an absorbance at 400 nm of not more than 0.4 and the support is a modified polyethylene terephthalate layer on which a UV quality change preventive layer is formed. A sign board obtained using a photosensitive resin laminate of the present invention has a transparent and colorless support having superior design and superior light resistance with a smaller coloring level due to UV. In other words, the photosensitive resin laminate of the present invention can provide a suitable sign board and greatly contributes to the industry.

The acrylic resin functions as a thickener which delays the viscosity build allowing the fabric of continuous fiber reinforcement to be incorporated before molding.
Abstract: A method of preparing thickened compositions which can be molded under low pressures and temperatures to provide thermoset articles, wherein liquid reactive components are slowly absorbed in solid thermoplastic elastomer thickeners such as thermoplastic ionomers and acrylic block copolymers. The thickener delays the viscosity build, allowing fiber reinforcement and other fillers to be incorporated, if desired, before molding. The molding composition is well suited for use in dentistry and other fields where small amounts or molding composition are used occasionally.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for use in separating mixtures. A slurry including a separation liquid and one or more particulate media materials is provided. A classification separation is performed on the slurry to produce a classified media having a controlled particle size distribution of the particulate media materials. The classified media is combined with a mixture to be separated to generate a separation mixture. A density separation is performed on the separation mixture. The particle size distribution can be controlled based in part on characteristics of components of a separation system to be used in subsequent density separations.
Abstract: Shims comprising a mixture of plastic and natural fibers originating from wet processed cellulose fiber based waste source material include an elongate body that tapers down from a thick end to a thin end. A series of ridges and grooves or valleys are formed in at least one face of the body traversing the width of the body from a point adjacent the thick end to a point beyond the longitudinal mid-point of the body. The base of the valleys each form individual break lines preferably spaced apart at predetermined intervals. A raised rim or ridge preferably extends about the outer boundaries of the face in which the ridges and grooves are formed.

Abstract: Methods, systems and media for separating polymer mixtures. A mixture including polymeric components is provided. A particulate media is added to the mixture, where the particulate media can selectively mediate a triboelectric charging of the polymer mixture. The media includes a polymeric material having a selected position within an electrostatic charging sequence and a functional additive. The mixture is triboelectrically charged with the media. Two or more components of the polymer mixture are separated according to the triboelectric charge. A portion of the particulate media can be recovered using a recovery process, where the functional additive is selected for compatibility with the recovery process.
