Abstract: The present invention improves the concentricity after expansion process of a heat shrinkable tube which is required to have a thin wall and hardness, and further aims to obtain elongation of 100% or more in a heat aging test, copperstability test, and heat shock test. The heat shrinkable tube satisfying such aim uses a medium- or high-density polyethylene that has a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 30 to 55, an MFR of 0.05 to 0.2, and a specific gravity of 0.94 to 0.96. A medium- or high-density polyethylene obtained by combining an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-ethylacrylate copolymer, ethylene-methylacrylate copolymer, and ethylene-ethylmethacrylate copolymer may be used. More preferably, for an antioxidant, phenol-based and sulfur-based antioxidants are used together and zinc oxide is added.

Abstract: One aspect of the present invention is a casting article comprised of a water-curable Plaster of Paris (PP) article having a first side and a second side and having a substrate and PP material and a polyisocyanate material being applied to at least one of the first and second sides of the water-curable PP to obtain a water-curable hybrid plaster-polyisocyanate (HPP) casting article.
Abstract: The roadway at a road-rail crossing comprises rows of extruded rubber strips. The strips have a tongue-and-groove type of edge connection, which constrain the strips such that if one strip bounces the adjacent strips bounce too. Locking-strips fit between primary-strips, and have latches, which snap into place upon the locking-strips being driven downwards, from above.

Abstract: An ionomeric nanocomposite that includes a base component of a propylene-based polyolefin-metal salt component and a nanostructured material. Optionally, the blend further contains a polymeric component including an ethylene ionomer, a styrenic block ionomer, a hydrogenated styrene-butadiene random copolymer, or a combination thereof. Such ionomeric nanocomposites have increased scratch and mar resistance while still retaining clarity and thermal stability. Methods of preparing such blends, as well as resultant articles including such blends, are also part of the invention.

Abstract: This invention relates to polyolefin alloys that are receptive to metal plating. These compositions also have enhanced properties and are easily processed into articles by various molding methods. The blends of the invention preferably include a polyethylene component, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymer(s), and at least one styrene monoolefin copolymer. The invention also relates to articles containing such alloys, and to methods of forming such blends and articles containing the same. These blends have excellent platability and superior physical properties including enhanced stiffness and toughness.

Abstract: Complexing packages suitable for use in alkaline starch-based adhesives are provided. The complexing packages generally include a polymeric vehicle and bivalent metal salt derived from a bivalent metal oxide. The complexing packages impart a host of beneficial properties to alkaline starch-based adhesives, including improved green bonding properties.
Abstract: A manufacturing method is provided for a roller, by which a roller having low eccentricity and high surface smoothness can be obtained without the need to perform cumbersome processes such as polishing of a foamed layer. The manufacturing method for a roller includes the steps of injecting a foam-layer compound into the space between a core bar, which is disposed at the center of a cylindrical mold, and an electron beam-irradiated tube, which has an outer diameter somewhat smaller than an inside diameter of the cylindrical mold, and which is set inside the cylindrical mold, and heating and foaming the foam-layer compound, so that the outer surface of the electron beam-irradiated tube is pressed against the inner surface of the cylindrical mold.
Abstract: A process of chemically recycling polyurethane-containing scrap. Polyurethane-containing scrap is subjected to a chemolysis reaction to produce chemolysis polyol products. The chemolysis polyol products are used as initiators in a reaction with alkylene oxide to produce oxyalkylated polyols for preparing polyurethanes.
Abstract: At a crossing, rubber interface strips are positioned between the rails and the asphalt or concrete. A U-shaped spring-clip fits underneath the rail, and has upstanding arms that carry tappets, which engage the strips. One of the arms is threaded, and carries a screwed tappet-rod. Turning the tappet-rod closes the distance between the tappets, clamping the strips onto the sides of the rail, and forcing the springy arms apart. The spring-clips are manipulated into position while in an unstressed condition. The spring-clip is only brought up to force when finally assembled. Assembly can be done without tools, and with little danger of mix-assembly, or of injury to workers.
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for the placement of ring shaped seal members on mechanical housings. In accordance with a preferred exemplary embodiment of the invention, a tapered insertion tool is placed over a mechanical housing on which a ring-shaped seal member is to be located. The ring-shaped seal member is then placed on the tapered insertion tool. A further insertion device is moved over the tapered insertion tool and an inner tubular portion pushes the ring-shaped seal member body over the tapered insertion tool. An outer tubular portion of the further insertion device advantageously prevents the ring-shaped seal member body from rolling during the insertion process.
