Abstract: Cure-on-demand, moisture-curable, urethane-containing prepolymers having urethanes incorporated into a sulfur-containing prepolymer backbone and compositions thereof for use in sealant applications are disclosed. The cure-on-demand moisture-curable urethane-containing prepolymers are terminated with polyalkoxysilyl groups. The compositions contain a controlled-release moisture cure catalyst. Compositions containing the prepolymers provide cured sealants exhibiting improved tensile strength.
Abstract: Compositions comprising sulfur-containing polymers such as polythioethers, Michael acceptors, and controlled release amine catalysts employing Michael addition curing chemistries useful in aerospace sealant applications are disclosed. The compositions exhibit extended pot life and the rate of curing can be tailored for specific applications.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to sealant compositions including a base composition with at least one sulfur-containing polymer, a curing agent composition, and an electrically conductive filler including carbon nanotubes and stainless steel fibers. The electrically conductive filler can be in either or both of the base composition and the curing agent composition. Abstract: A composition for application to a metal substrate comprising at least one metallate compound comprising hexafluorzirconate, zirconyl nitrate, and/or yttrium nitrate is provided. The composition may further comprise additives that promote corrosion resistance of the metal substrate, or the adhesion of subsequent coatings, such as one or more rare earth element salts; allontoin, polyvinylpyrrolidone, surfactants, and other additives and co-inhibitors. A metal substrate such as an aluminum or an aluminum alloy substrate coated with a metallate composition according to the present invention is also provided. A process for preparing a coating on a metal substrate to improve the corrosion resistance of the substrate or improve the adhesion of a subsequent coating is also provided. The process comprises treating the metal substrate with an aqueous solution comprising a metallate compound.

The prepolymers can be prepared by reacting an isocyanate-terminated urethane-containing adduct with a compound comprising a group reactive with an isocyanate group and at least one polyalkoxysilyl group. Compositions containing a moisture-curable, urethane-containing prepolymer and a moisture cure catalyst can be used to provide cured compositions exhibiting improved tensile strength. Compositions containing the prepolymers are useful in aerospace sealant applications.
Abstract: Urethane-containing prepolymers formed from diisocyanates and adapted for Michael addition curing chemistries and compositions thereof for use in sealant applications are disclosed. The prepolymers provide compositions that exhibit room temperature stability and a controlled curing rate following a brief activation.
