Abstract: To provide an expansion injection molding process, which is freed from the occurrence of swirl marks on the surface of a molded article and by which foamed injection moldings having good appearance can be produced in a short molding cycle and at a low cost; and a mold for expansion injection molding. A movable mold 2 is moved toward a fixed mold 1, whereby a sealing member 6 set on at least one of a pair of facing surfaces of the mold 1 and mold 2 in the outside of a cavity is brought into contact with the other of the facing surfaces or a sealing member 6 set thereon to make the cavity 3 gas-sealed state. While keeping the gas-sealed state, the movable mold 2 is further moved toward the fixed mold 1 with the sealing member 6 compressed, whereby the volume of the cavity 3 is decreased to enhance the pressure in the cavity 3 to a level exceeding the atmospheric pressure. Then, a thermoplastic resin is injected into the cavity 3 of an enhanced pressure.

  • Patent number: 7500708
Abstract: An interior part for an automobile that is disposed on a front side in the automobile is obtained by integrally molding an instrument panel fascia, a duct, and a reinforce member by a blow molding method including: extruding a resin composition into a molten parison; holding the parison in a metal mold; and blowing the air into the parison to obtain a resin molding. Thus, as compared to an arrangement where each of the members is formed separately, the number of members can be reduced. In addition, the arrangement requires only one type of material, a metal mold, and a molding device, and does not require an assembly step that is required in the arrangement with separately molded members, resulting in reduced cost.

  • Publication number: 20090011218
Abstract: Extruded propylene-based resin foam according to the present invention is formed by extrusion-foaming a propylene-based resin, and the extruded propylene-based resin foam has a closed cell content of less than 40% and an expansion ratio of 10 or more. Since the extruded propylene-based resin foam has an open-cell structure in which a cell-broken state is formed at a desired level and has a high expansion ratio, each cell in the foam has a sound absorption performance, such that the extruded foam is excellent in sound absorption performance.
