Publication number: 20040095772Abstract: An outdoor lighting fixture that is capable of being mounted flush with a mounting surface is provided. In one embodiment, the outdoor lighting fixture contains a housing having an upper and lower portion. A light source is in operable communication with the housing and can provide light in a direction that is substantially parallel to the mounting surface. It has been discovered that the outdoor lighting fixture of the present invention can be mounted substantially flush with a mounting surface so that it remains relatively hidden from view during use. Furthermore, the outdoor lighting fixture can also provide light in a linear direction, thereby enabling it to illuminate paths, sidewalks, driveways and the like, without having to provide light in all directions.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2002Publication date: May 20, 2004Applicant: Progress LightingInventors: Brandon C. Publication number: 20040027832Abstract: A light assembly with a removable reflector for use in a ceiling, wall, or the like is provided. The reflector has a top surface with a substantially hurricane-shaped mounting aperture defined by a primary diameter and a secondary diameter that intersect each other and in which the primary diameter is greater than the secondary diameter. When the reflector is rotated, the secondary diameter approaches a holding key in the light assembly, which engages the top surface to releasably hold the reflector within the light assembly. A method of releasably installing the reflector is also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2002Publication date: February 12, 2004Applicant: Progress LightingInventor: LaShannon Hyder

Publication number: 20040001337Abstract: A recessed lighting fixture that includes a battery assembly integrally connected to a recessed enclosure is provided. The battery assembly includes a battery that can supply the lighting fixture with power in the event of a power outage. In one embodiment, the battery assembly includes a ballast plate to which the light source (e.g., incandescent or fluorescent lamps) and the battery are connected. The ballast plate can be connected to the recessed enclosure so that the battery is disposed within an open face defined by the recessed wall enclosure. As a result, the lighting fixture can be formed as an integral structure that can be easily installed and accessed by a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2002Publication date: January 1, 2004Applicant: Progress LightingInventors: Douglas J. Publication number: 20020157324Abstract: A fire assembly that can be used for installing recessed electrical fixtures into various structures such as wall assemblies is provided. The fire assembly includes an electrical fixture contained within a generally fire-resistant housing. The housing can enclose the electrical fixture in such a manner that the resulting fire assembly has an integral structure. In some instances, a support structure can be utilized to attach the housing to the electrical fixture. Furthermore, the housing can be a cube-shaped box have a variety of generally fire-resistant walls. These walls can be made from materials such as sheet rock.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2002Publication date: October 31, 2002Applicant: Progress LightingInventors: Ronald Newbold, Thomas T. White

Patent number: 5379199Abstract: A recessed wall lighting fixture is disclosed comprising a recessed enclosure, a tray connected to and extending out from the recessed enclosure, and means for mounting the recessed enclosure in a predetermined orientation. The recessed enclosure has a back wall and an opened face with a flange portion. The tray extends out from the flange portion and provides a platform adapted for supporting a light diffuser. The tray also has an upright partition. The platform extends from the upright partition to the flange portion of the enclosure. The tray also includes an adjustable connecting means extendable between the upright partition to the flange portion for engaging the light diffuser. The tray can be attached to either of adjacent side walls of the enclosure, thereby allowing the light diffuser associated therewith to be oriented in either a horizontal or vertical position.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1993Date of Patent: January 3, 1995Assignee: Progress LightingInventors: Steven J.
