Patent number: 8401630Abstract: Method of determining the training intensity of a person (2), whereby time intervals RRi (13) between consecutive heartbeats are recorded whereupon from sequences of these time intervals RRi (13) a sequence of standardised intervals rri (14) is generated through mathematical modelling. From two consecutive standardised intervals rri (14) and rri+1 points in a Poincaré plot are generated and with regard to the principal horizontal axis X0 (16) of a confidence ellipse of these points a standard deviation SOL is calculated. From pairs of values formed of a mean value RRMV of the sequence of intervals RRi (13) and the standard deviation SOL for further sequences of standardised intervals rri (14) a training intensity curve (20) is then produced for the person (2) whereby the training intensity curve (20) is produced from pairs of values of the heart frequencies HF (HF=1/RRMV) corresponding to the mean values RRMV and the standard deviations SOL.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2008Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: PULSE7 GmbHInventor: Nikolaus Klepp

Patent number: 8393918Abstract: Improved miniaturized interconnect connector apparatus and methods for their manufacture. These miniaturized interconnect connectors minimize overall size, while at the same time offering acceptable and even improved electrical performance over prior art interconnect connector designs. In one exemplary embodiment, the interconnect connector comprises a plug and corresponding receptacle manufactured from a laser direct structuring (LDS) polymer material. In another embodiment, the interconnect connector comprises a composite structure which takes advantages of the properties of multiple selected materials. In yet another embodiment of the invention, precisely plated polymers such as the aforementioned LDS polymer are utilized in conjunction with known technologies such as flexible printed circuits (FPC) to produce miniaturized interconnect connectors.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2009Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Pulse Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Keh-Chang Cheng, Pen-Yuan Tsai, Cheng-Jung Tsou

Patent number: 8390522Abstract: An antenna component (and antenna) with a dielectric substrate and a plurality of radiating antenna elements on the surface of the substrate. In one embodiment, the plurality comprises two (2) elements, each of them covering one of the opposite heads and part of the upper surface of the device. The upper surface between the elements comprises a slot. The lower edge of one of the antenna elements is galvanically coupled to the antenna feed conductor on a circuit board, and at another point to the ground plane, while the lower edge of the opposite antenna element, or the parasitic element, is galvanically coupled only to the ground plane. The parasitic element obtains its feed through the electromagnetic coupling over the slot, and both elements resonate at the operating frequency. Omni-directionality is also achieved. Losses associated with the substrate are low due to the simple field image in the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2011Date of Patent: March 5, 2013Assignee: Pulse Finland OyInventors: Juha Sorvala, Petteri Annamaa, Kimmo Koskiniemi

Patent number: 8378892Abstract: An antenna component (200) with a dielectric substrate and two radiating antenna elements. The elements are located on the upper surface of the substrate and there is a narrow slot (260) between them. The antenna feed conductor (241) is connected to the first antenna element (220), which is connected also to the ground by a short-circuit conductor (261). The second antenna element (230) is parasitic; it is galvanically connected only to the ground. The component is preferably manufactured by a semiconductor technique by growing a metal layer e.g. on a quartz substrate and removing a part of it so that the antenna elements remain. In this case the component further comprises supporting material (212) of the substrate chip. The antenna component is very small-sized because of the high dielectricity of the substrate to be used and mostly because the slot between the antenna elements is narrow. The efficiency of an antenna made by the component is high.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2007Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: Pulse Finland OyInventors: Juha Sorvala, Petteri Annamaa, Kimmo Koskiniemi

Patent number: 8368500Abstract: Improved form-less electronic apparatus and methods for manufacturing the same. In one exemplary embodiment, the apparatus comprises a shape-core inductive device having a bonded-wire coil which is formed and maintained within the device without resort to a bobbin or other form(er). The absence of the bobbin simplifies the manufacture of the device, reduces its cost, and allows it to be made more compact (or alternatively additional functionality to be disposed therein). One variant utilizes a termination header for mating to a PCB or other assembly, while another totally avoids the use of the header by directly mating to the PCB. Multi-core variants and methods of manufacturing are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2012Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: Pulse Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Michael T.
