Publication number: 20150179043Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may receive a signal at least at a first antenna and a second antenna, determine a first strength of the signal received at the first antenna and a second strength of the signal received at the second antenna, and alert a user when a difference between the first and second strengths exceeds a threshold. The difference between the first and second strengths may be caused by an obstruction of the first antenna or the second antenna. For example, the obstruction may be a hand or head of the user of the UE. The UE may also start a timer when the difference exceeds the threshold. The UE may also determine a sensitivity difference between the first and second antennas and adjust the difference between the first and second strengths based on the sensitivity difference.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2014Publication date: June 25, 2015Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Venkata Siva Prasad Rao GUDE, Girish Venkata VADLAMUDI, Debesh Kumar SAHU

Publication number: 20150181476Abstract: In baton handover in TD-SCDMA communications, a user equipment (UE) may use of a single receiver to reduce call drops during baton handover. Following uplink handover, the UE may simultaneously receive downlink communication from a target cell and a source cell when a condition is satisfied. If the UE measures a signal quality of the downlink communication of the target cell greater than a signal quality of the downlink communication of the source cell, the UE switches to the target cell and completes the handover. If the UE measures a signal quality of the downlink communication of the source cell greater than a signal quality of the downlink communication of the target cell, the UE returns the uplink to the source cell and terminates the handover. Thus the UE may avoid handover to a target cell with poor signal quality.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2013Publication date: June 25, 2015Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Ming YANG, Tom CHIN, Guangming SHI

Publication number: 20150180794Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a modem in a computing device are disclosed. In one embodiment, a traffic scheduler is logically positioned between the applications and the net driver of the computing device. The traffic scheduler receives all the packets from the applications and prioritizes the packets in a smart queue. Based on the available uplink bandwidth and/or the queue at the modem, the traffic scheduler passes packets from the smart queue to the net driver to be passed to the modem. In addition to having the benefit of having the higher priority packets be passed before the lower priority packets, the traffic scheduler has the added advantage of allowing the deletion of packets that are no longer needed (e.g., packets generated by a program that the user has closed).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2013Publication date: June 25, 2015Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Valeriya Perelman, Nela Gurevich, Bojin Liu, Rashid Ahmed Akbar Attar

Patent number: 9066286Abstract: A hybrid device can be configured to execute operations to select singleton coordinating functionality in a hybrid communication network. In one embodiment, a single master device (e.g., a hybrid device configured as both a registrar and a central access point (CAP)) can be selected. The hybrid device can transmit search messages to detect an existing master device and/or to identify other hybrid devices contending to become the master device.
