  • Patent number: 9066102
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for indicating that a video frame is coded as a generalized P/B (GPB) frame in order to reduce a cost of coding and constructing a second reference picture list in video coding. For a GPB frame, which has identical reference picture lists, signaling and constructing both the first and second reference picture lists may be redundant. The techniques of this disclosure may include coding syntax elements indicating that the video frame is coded as the GPB frame, and coding syntax elements indicating a number of reference pictures and reference picture list construction commands for only a first reference picture list. The techniques also include constructing the first reference picture list based on the syntax elements, and then creating the second reference picture list as a duplicate of the first reference picture list.

Abstract: A method and device for processing spur components associated with a received wireless signal are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes first selecting a sub-band of a spectral band of the received signal. The selected sub-band is scanned, and a detection routine is executed to detect a spur within the scanned sub-band having a peak magnitude above a predetermined threshold. The spur frequency is determined, and the spur may be removed by a cancellation unit based on the determined frequency. The method also includes tracking the frequency of the spur to ensure continued suppression over time and under dynamic conditions.

  • Patent number: 9066362
Abstract: Techniques for prioritizing time critical data for transmission during a power-limited state in DC-HSUPA operation are described. A user equipment (UE) may be in a power-limited state. The UE may identify non-scheduled, time critical data and scheduled data as available for transmission. The UE may detect that a minimum transport block size is about to be selected for a transmission on a secondary uplink carrier. The UE may prioritize the non-scheduled, time critical data over the scheduled data and transmit the non-scheduled, time critical data on a primary uplink carrier based on the prioritizing. The UE also may transmit the scheduled data during a transmission time interval (TTI) that is different from the TTI during which the non-scheduled, time critical data was transmitted. The non-scheduled, time critical data and the scheduled data may be transmitted using transmit diversity.

  • Patent number: 9065584
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided that include adaptively configuring a rise-over-thermal (RoT) threshold at a base station to improve communications with one or more devices while mitigating interference to one or more other base stations. A potential device pathloss to the macrocell can be computed based on a measured pathloss thereto applied with a coverage area of the low power base station to emulate a worst-case device, one or more received measurement reports, and/or the like. The RoT threshold can be computed based at least in part on the pathloss and/or a maximum interference level at the macrocell. In addition, the RoT threshold can be adapted based on a reverse link attenuation level.

  • Publication number: 20150169382
Abstract: Aspects include computing devices, systems, and methods for adjusting the assignment of tasks to processor cores in a multi-core processing system to increase operating life and maximize device performance by wear-leveling the processor cores. A reliability engine may be configured to collect operation or built in self test data of thermal output and current leakage, and historical operation time for a group of equivalent processor cores configured for the same purpose. Collected data may be applied to a weighted function to determine priorities for each equivalent processor core in the group. The reliability engine may rearrange a virtual processor identification translation table according to the priorities of the equivalent processor cores. A high level operating system may issue a process request specifying a processor core and the specified processor core may be translated to a different processor core according to the order of processor cores dictated by the priorities.

  • Publication number: 20150172931
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for operating a communications system using both licensed and unlicensed frequency bands. Unlicensed spectrum may be used as a primary band for transmitting data packets and TCP may be implemented for selectively transmitting (e.g., retransmitting) a subset of the transmitted data packets via licensed spectrum. Selective transmission of the subset of data packets via licensed spectrum may be based on a transmitter failing to receive and acknowledgment (ACK) message in response to one or more transmitted data packets on the unlicensed spectrum. Selective retransmission may be based on a transmitter detecting interference and/or it may be based on a receiver reporting information about channel conditions. In some cases, a transmitter may simultaneously receive channel condition information for both licensed and unlicensed spectrum. In other cases, unlicensed spectrum may be utilized for data packet transmission and licensed spectrum may be utilized for ACK messages.

  • Publication number: 20150169303
Abstract: An optimizing compiler performs optimization that can employ complex transformations of the compiler input—such as transition table transpose of a transition table for a finite state machine and finding “hot spots” of the finite state machine—and provides compiled code for finite state machines that is more efficient (with regard either to time efficiency or space efficiency or both) than compiled code provided by general purpose optimizing compilers, which generally can not perform complex transformations like transition table transpose for finite state machines. Compiled code may be optimized for particular hardware for an embedded system. Performance of a finite state machine executing in hardware is optimized by finding states and transitions of the finite state machine that occur more or most frequently, referred to as “hot spots”, and generating optimized code tailored to execute the finite state machine more quickly, or using less instructions, for those states and transitions.
