  • Patent number: 9082198
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards automatically creating a cinemagraph on at least an imaging device, where the cinemagraph can be created without additional user interaction beyond capturing an initial sequence of images, and indicating that a cinemagraph is to be created from the sequence. Automatic creation of the cinemagraph includes selecting an anchor frame within the sequence and aligning the other frames to the anchor frame. Detection and segmentation of moving objects within the sequence, with respect to the anchor frame are performed. A mask is generated and refined. Segmentation of masks are then unified, and combined with a background from the anchor frame to generate an animated sequence.

  • Patent number: 9069912
Abstract: A Network-on-Chip (NoC) is provided that performs reordering of transaction responses such as those with requests that cross address mapping boundaries. Ordering is ensured by filtering logic in reorder buffers, some of which include storage to allow multiple simultaneously pending transactions. Transactions are transported by a packet-based transport protocol. The reorder buffering is done at packet level, within the transport topology. Reorder buffers are distributed physically throughout the floorplan of the chip, they have localized connectivity to initiators, and they operate in separate power and clock domains.

  • Patent number: 9054774
Abstract: A communication system transmits signals having frequencies that lie within a transmission band and receives signals having frequencies that lie within a reception band. The system includes a duplexer and an antenna. The duplexer includes a transmission branch and a reception branch. The transmission branch includes a transmission filter, a transmission phase shifting network and a transmission matching network. The reception branch includes a reception filter, a reception phase shifting network and a reception matching network. The transmission matching network and the reception matching network have predominately constant phase shifts over frequencies within the reception band and within the transmission band, respectively. The antenna is coupled to the transmission matching network and to the reception matching network, and shows a predominantly reactance-only impedance variation over frequencies in the transmission band and over frequencies in the reception band.

  • Patent number: 9055231
Abstract: Techniques for creating a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image within a consumer grade digital camera from a series of images of a scene captured at different exposure levels, and displaying the HDR image on the camera's built-in display, are provided. The approach employs mixing images of the series to incorporate both scene shadow and highlight details, and the removing of “ghost” image artifacts appearing in the mixed HDR image resulting from movement in the scene over the time the series images are captured. The low computational resource utilization of the present invention's image mixing and ghost removal processing operations, along with the present invention's ability to commence image mixing and ghost removal prior to the acquisition of all series images, can significantly reduce the time required to generate and display a tone mapped HDR image.

  • Patent number: 9053355
Abstract: Improved face tracking is provided during determination of an image by an imaging device using a low power face tracking unit. In one embodiment, image data associated with a frame and one or more face detection windows from a face detection unit may be received by the face tracking unit. The face detection windows are associated with the image data of the frame. A face list may be determined based on the face detection windows and one or more faces may be selected from the face list to generate an output face list. The output face list may then be provided to a processor of an imaging device for the detection of an image based on at least one of coordinate and scale values of the one or more faces on the output face list.

  • Patent number: 9049124
Abstract: Packet format configurability is extended for packets transported on physical links of an Intellectual Property (IP) core interconnect by using at least two independent parameters: one parameter governing data-width and one parameter governing latency penalty. The at least two independent parameters allow creation of transport protocol packets without additional latency insertion, which is useful for low-latency applications. The at least two independent parameters also allow creation of narrow packets with multi-cycle additional latency, which is useful for latency tolerant, area sensitive applications.

  • Patent number: 8965046
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and manufacture for smiling face detection is provided. For each frame, a list of new smiling faces for the frame is generated by performing smiling face detection employing an object classifier that trained is to distinguish between smiling faces and all objects in the frame that are not smiling faces. For the first frame, the list of new smiling faces is employed as an input smiling face list for the next frame. For each frame after the first frame, a list of tracked smiles for the frame is generated by tracking smiling faces in the frame from the input smiling list for the frame. Further, a list of new smiling faces is generated for the next frame by combining the list of new smiling faces for the frame with the list of tracked smiles for the frame.

  • Patent number: 8947502
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for selecting qualifying frames from an image sequence for use in subsequent stitching into a composite panoramic image are disclosed. Incoming frames from any source may be cropped and downscaled prior to evaluation against qualifying criteria relating to image overlap and local motion. Qualifying images are saved and/or output. The resulting panoramic image generally uses fewer qualifying images and appears smoother and has fewer artifacts than those of the prior art. The qualifying criterion for image overlap is a predetermined overlap margin or percentage between a current image and a previous image from the sequence. The qualifying criterion for image motion includes a maximum amount of local motion, often due to passing objects. The embodiments may process incoming images in real time or from stored sequences. Problems may trigger user warnings.

  • Publication number: 20150019776
Abstract: The present invention provides a transaction interface to be used between semiconductor intellectual property cores. The urgency attribute of pending transactions can be changed by a special type of transaction at the interface. The urgency can be incremented, raised to at least an indicated value, or changed to a value as specified. For an interface with multiple pending transactions, a mask can be used to indicate one or more IDs, the transactions of which should be changed.

  • Patent number: 8933985
Abstract: A digital camera captures a sequence of frames such that captured frames of the sequence alternate between sets of frames, in which each frame in the set has a different exposure setting. Each set of frames includes a nominal exposure frame. For each set of frames of the sequence that is captured after the reference set of frames has been captured, a determination is made as to whether or not the captured set of frames should be saved, based, at least in part, on overlap. For each of the saved sets of frames, the frames in the set are aligned with each other, and then image mixing of the frames in the set of frames is performed to generate a high dynamic range image. A panoramic, high dynamic range image is generated from each of the high dynamic range images.

  • Patent number: 8930638
Abstract: A cache coherency controller, a system comprising such, and a method of its operation are disclosed. The coherency controller ensures that target-side security checking rules are not violated by the performance-improving processes commonly used in coherency controllers such as dropping, merging, invalidating, forwarding, and snooping. This is done by ensuring that requests marked for target-side security checking and any other requests to overlapping addresses are forwarded directly to the target-side security filter without modification or side effects.

  • Patent number: 8896747
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards performing depth estimation within a digital camera system based on interpolation of inverse focus statistics. After an image is captured, various statistics or focus measure may be calculated using, for example, a high pass filter. Depth is estimated by interpolating the inverse of the statistics for three positions of focus for the image. The inverse of the statistics, St(n), may be 1/St(n), or 1/St2(n), or even 1/StZ(n), where Z?1. Several approaches to interpolating the inverse values of the statistics to obtain a depth estimate are disclosed, including a general parabolic minimum approach, using a parabolic minimum within a progressive scheme, or within a continuous AF scheme. The depth estimate may then be used for a variety of applications, including automatic focusing, as well as converting 2D images to 3D images.
