  • Patent number: 9696787
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling processor cores on a computing device are disclosed. One method includes tracking a load of each of a plurality of processor cores and determining a load percentage of each of the processor cores. A core is designated as a busy core if a load percentage of the core exceeds an upper threshold, and the busy core designation is removed if the load percentage of the core drops below a lower threshold. To reduce power consumption and adverse thermal effects, no more than N+M cores are maintained online wherein N is a number of busy cores and M is generally zero, but may be increased to at least one.

  • Patent number: 9697359
Abstract: A first time software is loaded for execution by a device, the software stored in non-secure storage is authenticated. Authenticating the software may involve a cryptographic operation over the software and a digital signature of the software. A verification tag may be generated for the software if authentication of the software is successful, the verification tag based on the software and at least a device-specific secret data. The verification tag may be stored within the device. Each subsequent time the software is loaded for execution it may be verified (not authenticated) by using the verification tag to confirm that the software being loaded is the same as the one used to generate the verification tag while avoiding authentication of the software.

  • Patent number: 9692539
Abstract: Incremental interference cancelation (IC) capability management and signaling is disclosed. A mobile device selects certain groups of its individual IC capabilities to deactivate in response to various operating conditions it is experiencing. The mobile device reports its currently active IC capability to a serving base station, which uses information to determine whether to modify any existing communication conditions with respect to the reporting mobile device. The base station detects and analyzes the current communication conditions with respect to the reporting mobile device in light of the mobile device's currently active IC capabilities. The base station may modify such conditions through actions such as signaling the mobile device to activate or deactivate certain other groups of IC capabilities. The base station can make other modifications such as changing the communication schedule for the mobile device, modifying the control loop for channel quality indicator (CQI) reporting, and the like.

  • Patent number: 9690635
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices for communicating behavior analysis information using an application programming interface (API) may include receiving data/behavior models from one or more third-party network servers in a client module of a mobile device and communicating the information to a behavior observation and analysis system via a behavior API. The third-party servers may be maintained by one or more partner companies that have domain expertise in a particular area or technology that is relevant for identifying, analyzing, classifying, and/or reacting to mobile device behaviors, but that do not have access to (or knowledge of) the various mobile device sub-systems, interfaces, configurations, modules, processes, drivers, and/or hardware systems required to generate effective data/behavior models suitable for use by the mobile device. The behavior API and/or client modules allow the third-party server to quickly and efficiently access the most relevant and important information on the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9690494
Abstract: System, methods and apparatus are described that facilitate access to a memory device. A memory space within the memory device is divided into a plurality of storage bank domains. Thereafter, application interface circuits configured to access the memory space are classified into a plurality of interface groups based on one or more application usage requirements. Each interface group of the plurality of interface groups is assigned to a corresponding storage bank domain from the plurality of storage bank domains. Access between each interface group and the corresponding storage bank domain is then provided, wherein a first application interface circuit of a first interface group accesses a first corresponding storage bank domain while a second application interface circuit of a second interface group accesses a second corresponding storage bank domain.

  • Patent number: 9690710
Abstract: Systems and methods for improved operation of a victim cache in a portable computing device (PCD) are presented. A lower level cache is operated as a victim to an upper level cache, the lower level cache containing a plurality of cache lines. A filter is operated in association with the lower level victim cache, and reflects the cache lines contained in the victim cache. For a miss at the upper level cache, the filter is checked to determine if the requested cache line is in the victim cache. If checking the filter determines that the requested cache line is in the victim cache the requested cache line is retrieved from the victim cache. If checking the filter determines that the request cache line is not in the victim cache, the victim cache is bypassed and the cache line is requested from a memory controller.

  • Patent number: 9693323
Abstract: Multi-channel channel state information (CSI) design is disclosed for long term evolution (LTE)/LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) systems with unlicensed spectrum. A “reference” CSI process defined for each channel/carrier. The reference CSI process is defined across each channel in any particular band that the transmitter is configured to support. The transmit power for such reference CSI processes is spread equally over each such channel. In order to report CSI for a subset of channels under an unequal power split assumption, a user equipment (UE) may apply a different power offset in the computation of the CSI process. Alternatively, an auxiliary CSI process may be defined for reporting CSI of a subset of channels with unequal distribution of powers across different channels in a band.

  • Patent number: 9693337
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a request to receive a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) service associated with a service area identity (SAI) and a second frequency. The apparatus performs inter-frequency cell reselection from a first cell transmitting at a first frequency to a second cell transmitting at the second frequency, the second cell being an inter-frequency neighbor cell to the first cell. The apparatus receives system information from the second cell. The apparatus determines that the second cell transmitting at the second frequency is unassociated with the SAI based on the received system information. The apparatus blacklists the SAI on the second frequency in a blacklist for at least a period of time upon determining that the second cell is unassociated with the SAI.

  • Patent number: 9690738
Abstract: Aspects disclosed in the detailed description include peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) hosts adapted to support remote PCIe endpoints. In this regard, a PCIe host is configured to determine a temporal distance to an attached PCIe endpoint and compare the temporal distance to a predetermined threshold value. In one aspect, the PCIe host defines a first configuration parameter for the attached PCIe endpoint if the temporal distance is greater than the predetermined threshold value. In another aspect, the PCIe host defines a second configuration parameter different from the first configuration parameter for the attached PCIe endpoint if the temporal distance is less than or equal to the predetermined threshold value. By differentiating the attached PCIe endpoints based on temporal distances, the PCIe host can support compatibly a plurality of attached PCIe endpoints regardless of physical connection distances with the attached PCIe endpoints.
