Abstract: Provisioning and access control for communication nodes involves assigning identifiers to sets of nodes where the identifiers may be used to control access to restricted access nodes that provide certain services only to certain defined sets of nodes. In some aspects provisioning a node may involve providing a unique identifier for sets of one or more nodes such as restricted access points and access terminals that are authorized to receive service from the restricted access points. Access control may be provided by operation of a restricted access point and/or a network node. In some aspects, provisioning a node involves providing a preferred roaming list for the node. In some aspects, a node may be provisioned with a preferred roaming list through the use of a bootstrap beacon.

Abstract: Abbreviations are displayed for user-entered text commands, to facilitate discovery of keyboard shortcuts and to reinforce branding. Users enter commands by typing them into a text input field. Commands can be provided in a verb-noun structure, where the verb specifies what is to be done and the noun specifies the object or a parameter for the verb. Upon user entry of a command, or portion thereof, the entered portion is replaced by an abbreviation. The abbreviation can represent a single key, key combination, or multi-character string. The abbreviation can also include a logo or other graphic component, if desired. The abbreviation can replace the verb portion of the entered command, or it can be shown alongside or adjacent to the text input field, or it can be shown in an overlay or according to any other mechanism. A transition effect can be performed when introducing the abbreviation.
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure support a technique for robust neural temporal coding, learning and cell recruitments for memory using oscillations. Methods are proposed for distinguishing temporal patterns and, in contrast to other “temporal pattern” methods, not merely coincidence of inputs or order of inputs. Moreover, the present disclosure propose practical methods that are biologically-inspired/consistent but reduced in complexity and capable of coding, decoding, recognizing, and learning temporal spike signal patterns. In this disclosure, extensions are proposed to a scalable temporal neural model for robustness, confidence or integrity coding, and recruitment of cells for efficient temporal pattern memory.

The decoder device determines a set of transform coefficients to be used to reconstruct the multimedia samples. In one aspect, the transform coefficients are used to scale partial basis images associated with the encoding method used to generate the transform coefficients, resulting in reconstructed multimedia samples.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for saving power in wireless communications devices are described herein. In some aspects, an apparatus includes a memory unit configured to store wake-up information associated with a wake-up time duration for receiving a beacon signal, and includes a processor operationally coupled to the memory unit. The wake-up time duration identifies a time for the processor to wake-up before an expected arrival time of the next beacon signal. The processor may be configured to retrieve the wake-up information from the memory, and vary, over a period of time, the wake-up time duration based on the wake-up information.

Abstract: Systems and methods of generating quick paging messages having nearly unique identifiers and variable capacity are described. The system generates a quick paging message identifying an access terminal to indicate the presence of a scheduled paging message for that access terminal. The system generates a quick paging notification for each access terminal having a scheduled paging message and generates a compressed nearly unique identifier of each access terminal that is notified in the quick paging message. The compression technique can vary based on the number of bits allocated to the quick paging message as well as the number of access terminals notified in one quick paging message.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for wirelessly transmitting real-time data streams is described. To ensure continuous data flow, fast diversity and slow diversity can be used. Fast diversity chooses a receive antenna based on received signal parameters, such as signal strength, during the transmission header and prior to information transfer. Slow diversity stores received signal parameters from previous packets, associates the parameters with a selected antenna, and uses the parameter history to denote a “default” antenna. Additionally, receive and/or transmit beam forming can be used to maintain continuous communication between stations. Beam forming, which combines antenna signals to maximize performance, is possible when at least two transmit/receive signal processing chains are available.
Abstract: Compressibility-based reallocation of initial bit allocations for frames of an audio signal is described. Applications to redundancy-based retransmission of critical frames (e.g., for fixed-bit-rate modes of speech codec operation) are also described.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for inferring causal relationship between random processes using a temporal learning algorithm. The temporal learning algorithm determines structure of a causal graph with a set of nodes. Input to the nodes may be binary time series (e.g., random processes). The output of the temporal learning algorithm may be a labeled directed graph in which the direction of the connection between each two node indicates causal direction and the strength of connectivity between the nodes indicates intensity of the causal influence. The temporal learning algorithm may iteratively update strength of connections between nodes to track variations in real time.
Abstract: Techniques for creating a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image within a consumer grade digital camera from a series of images of a scene captured at different exposure levels, and displaying the HDR image on the camera's built-in display, are provided. The approach employs mixing images of the series to incorporate both scene shadow and highlight details, and the removing of “ghost” image artifacts appearing in the mixed HDR image resulting from movement in the scene over the time the series images are captured. The low computational resource utilization of the present invention's image mixing and ghost removal processing operations, along with the present invention's ability to commence image mixing and ghost removal prior to the acquisition of all series images, can significantly reduce the time required to generate and display a tone mapped HDR image.
Abstract: A method for a tracking device optimizing power to remain reachable for a desired period based on evaluated wide-area-network conditions. The tracking device may communicate via a power-intensive long-range transceiver and may continually measure service conditions related to network communications. The tracking device may periodically calculate statistical information describing the service conditions, such as a percentage of time in which the tracking device was out-of-network-service. Based on the statistics, the tracking device may operate in an optimization mode to conserve power when out-of-network-service. In an embodiment, the tracking device may calculate the statistics based on evaluation periods defined by predefined numbers of out-of-network-service occurrences, predefined time periods, and/or a hybrid of both.

Abstract: Techniques for adaptively tuning an impedance matching circuit are disclosed. In an aspect, the impedance matching circuit is pre-characterized. The performance of the impedance matching circuit is determined for multiple settings of the impedance matching circuit, stored in memory, and used to tune the impedance matching circuit. In another aspect, the impedance matching circuit is tuned based on measurements for one or more parameters such as delivered power, return loss, power amplifier current, antenna/load impedance, etc. In an exemplary design, an apparatus includes a memory and a control unit. The memory stores information for multiple settings of an impedance matching circuit. The control unit selects one of the multiple settings of the impedance matching circuit based on the information for the multiple settings and measurements for the impedance matching circuit. The impedance matching circuit performs impedance matching for a load circuit (e.g., an antenna) based on the selected setting.
Abstract: Techniques for uplink transmit power command (ULTPC) rejection threshold optimization in WCDMA for power control algorithm 2 (PCA2) are described. Uplink transmit power control commands may be received on a five-slot interval. The uplink transmit power control commands may be decoded for each of the five slots.
