Abstract: Packet format configurability is extended for packets transported on physical links of an Intellectual Property (IP) core interconnect by using at least two independent parameters: one parameter governing data-width and one parameter governing latency penalty. The at least two independent parameters allow creation of transport protocol packets without additional latency insertion, which is useful for low-latency applications. The at least two independent parameters also allow creation of narrow packets with multi-cycle additional latency, which is useful for latency tolerant, area sensitive applications.

Abstract: In the various aspects, virtualization techniques may be used to improve performance and reduce the amount of power consumed by translating virtual memory addresses into physical addresses on a computing system having hybrid memory. In a first stage of memory translation, an operating system translates virtual addresses to intermediate physical addresses. In a second stage of memory translation, a chip or virtualization software translates the intermediate physical address to physical addresses based on the characteristics of the physical memory and the characteristics of the processes associated with the physical memory.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for evaluating the suitability of AP signaling for RTT-based location calculation. Various evaluation methods are disclosed to enable the signaling to be tested for consistency and reliability. An AP may be analyzed by a mobile device or other communications mechanism to determine whether the AP is suitable for RTT-based location signaling. A mobile device receives multiple signals from an evaluated AP at various locations in the indoor area, and derives RTT data from the signals. The RTT data is analyzed to determine whether RTT data from the AP should be used by mobile devices in the process of calculating their location.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a dormancy request from an application executing at a communication device. In response to the dormancy request, a message is sent from the communication device to a radio network controller. The message indicates that a data session has ended. After expiration of a time period following sending of the message, state information is provided to the application. The state information indicates whether the communication device is in a low-power state.
Abstract: A method includes biasing a first gate voltage to enable unipolar current to flow from a first region of a transistor to a second region of the transistor according to a field-effect transistor (FET)-type operation. The method also includes biasing a body terminal to enable bipolar current to flow from the first region to the second region according to a bipolar junction transistor (BJT)-type operation. The unipolar current flows concurrently with the bipolar current to provide dual mode digital and analog device in complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology.

Abstract: A power management mechanism maintains power to a processor and an integrated memory. Read-only logic and a cache are also provided. At power on, the read-only logic configures the cache as an internal memory and loads executable instructions in the cache. A copy of the executable instructions is stored in the internal memory. A branch instruction is also stored. Thereafter, the processor uses the copy of the executable instructions and present status information. The processor is programmed to issue a reset signal when a failure is detected. The read-only logic responds to the reset signal by going to the branch instruction in the internal memory, which directs the processor to use the copy of the executable instructions and status information in the internal memory circuit. The operating state is restored and the processor is instructed to execute the next instruction in the copy of executable instructions.

Abstract: Various embodiments of methods and systems for multi-correlative learning thermal management (“MLTM”) techniques implemented in a portable computing device (“PCD”) are disclosed. Notably, in many PCDs, thermal energy levels measured by individual temperature sensors in the PCD may be attributable to a plurality of processing components, i.e. thermal aggressors. Generally, as more power is consumed by the thermal aggressors, the resulting generation of thermal energy may cause the temperature thresholds associated with temperature sensors located around the chip to be exceeded, thereby necessitating that the performance of the PCD be sacrificed in an effort to reduce thermal energy generation.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes circuits and methods for power amplifiers. In one embodiment, a main and peaking amplifier receive dynamic power supply voltages to operate an RF power amplifier in a high efficiency range for a particular output voltage. The power supply voltages may be changed based on an output voltage so that the power amplifier operates within a high efficiency plateau. In one embodiment, different discrete power supply voltage levels are used for different output voltage ranges. In another embodiment, a continuous time varying power supply voltage is provided as the power supply voltage. A dynamic supply voltage may be generated having a lower frequency than a signal path of the power amplifier.
Abstract: A reliability metric is used for determining whether to prune a decoding hypothesis. For example, a reliability metric can be generated for each possible hypothesis generated during blind decoding operations. The reliability metric can then be used in a pruning process whereby a determination to prune a given hypothesis is based on whether the corresponding reliability metric is above or below a reliability metric threshold. In some aspects, the reliability metric is based on the correlation between the symbols of a hypothesis and re-encoded symbols that are based on the hypothesis, whereby the correlation is normalized using an estimated power parameter that is independent of the hypothesis. Through the use of the reliability metric, decoding may be achieved with a low probability of false passes (in the case of noise) and a low probability of missed detection (in the case of a real signal).
Abstract: A hybrid switching device is disclosed that allow packets transmitted according to different communication protocols to be forwarded in a seamless manner using the same resources of a universal data plane, thereby alleviating the need to employ separate forwarding engines for different types of data planes and/or communication protocols. In operation, if the destination address of a packet received by the switching device is not stored therein, the switching device determines the protocol type of the originating port and, in response thereto, selects an appropriate packet flooding operation to ensure that the packet reaches its destination without creating unnecessary data loops within the switching device.
Abstract: System, methods and apparatus are described that reduce the power consumed by a multi-level encoded communications link. In one example, different logic states of a 4-level pulse amplitude modulation encoded transmission consume greater power than other logic states. The fraction of primary bits in a first logic state in multi-bit data symbols may determine whether the primary bits are inverted prior to transmission. The fraction of secondary bits in the first logic state in the multi-bit data symbols may determine whether the secondary bits are inverted prior to transmission. The primary bits may be swapped with the secondary bits is more secondary bits are in the first logic state than primary bits in the first logic state.
Abstract: An optimized strategy for preparing measurement reports in a telecommunication system separates searching and measuring of candidate frequencies for device handover, searching a series of frequencies and then determining which frequencies to measure based on the search results. The search results may be sorted, prioritizing the order measurements are undertaken. Preliminary results may be used to determine that a frequency is a poor handover candidate, advancing to the next frequency.
Abstract: A method includes generating error detection information associated with data to be stored at a cache in response to determining that the data is clean. The method also includes storing the clean data at a first region of the cache. The method further includes generating error correction information associated with data to be stored at the cache in response to determining that the data is dirty. The method also includes storing the dirty data at a second region of the cache.

In some embodiments, the method may comprise obtaining a base character by performing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on written user-input on the MS. Abstract: System, methods and apparatus are described that facilitate transmission of data, particularly between two devices within an electronic apparatus. Each device can contend for control of a communications link by driving a data signal to a first voltage level. If the data signal or a clock signal changes before an arbitration time period has elapsed, one or more devices yield control of the communications link to another contender. The arbitration time period for each contender is different and indicates a priority of the message to be transmitted. A shorter arbitration time period indicates higher priority. Arbitration may commence after clock and data signals of the communications link remain in an idle or other predefined state for a minimum idle time. The minimum idle time may be different for different nodes and may be shorter for high priority messages or nodes.
