  • Patent number: 11012915
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless systems, a base station centralized unit (CU) may communicate with a user equipment (UE) through a multi-hop backhaul architecture. This multi-hop backhaul connection may include a donor base station and any number of relay base stations connected via backhaul links. In some cases, the relay base stations or the UE may experience data congestion in a logical channel-specific buffer. The relay base stations or UE may implement backpressure signaling (e.g., in the medium access control (MAC) layer) to mitigate the congestion. A wireless device operating as a mobile termination (MT) endpoint may transmit a backpressure report message to a wireless device operating as a base station distributed unit (DU) endpoint for the logical channel. The base station DU may adjust a scheduling rate for data unit transmissions over the indicated logical channel based on the backpressure report.

  • Patent number: 11013000
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide for the pairing of an inter-band carrier with a time division duplex (TDD) carrier. If the paired band is a frequency division duplex (FDD) band, then base stations and mobile devices may transmit and receive additional thin control channels on FDD carriers to enable full duplex operations. If the paired band is a TDD band, then a conjugate or inverse carrier may be used such that full duplex, or a close approximation thereto, is achieved. With the introduction of a paired channel and fast control channels, rapid uplink/downlink switching may be achieved for TDD carriers efficiently and effectively. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 11013056
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to mechanisms for dynamic prioritization of uplink (UL) traffic at a user equipment (UE). In some examples, the UE may determine to delay transmission of UL traffic by skipping one or more UL transmission opportunities based on one or more factors, such as a power saving indication, a priority level of the UL traffic, a type of the UL traffic, a volume of the UL traffic, and/or current channel conditions. In some examples, the UE may be configured with a parameter controlling the ability of the UE to delay a transmission of UL traffic. In some examples, when the UE is operating in a semi-persistent scheduling mode and a power saving mode, such as a connected mode discontinuous reception (C-DRX) mode, the UE may dynamically interrupt an OFF duration of the C-DRX cycle to transmit UL traffic.

  • Patent number: 11006327
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for call continuity following radio link failure (RLF) through re-establishment of a voice call using a same or different radio access technology (RAT) before the call is dropped. Upon detection of RLF on a connection supporting a voice call, a UE may initiate a drop call timer and scan for available connections. The voice call may be attempted to be re-established if a connection is available on using a RAT of an existing connection. The voice call in such cases may continue without the call being dropped. Upon expiration of the drop call timer, the UE may attempt to establish a connection using a RAT identified during the duration of the drop call timer.

  • Patent number: 11005586
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for reference signal monitoring and transmission for remote interference management. In some cases, an aggressor base station decides to monitor for reference signals (RSs) transmitted from at least one victim BS, for example, regardless of an amount of interference from at least one remote BS detected by the first base station and participating in a remote interference mitigation (RIM) process based on the monitored RS. In some cases, a first BS transmits reference signals (RSs) as part of a remote interference mitigation (RIM) process, in response to a determination that it is an aggressor BS whose downlink transmissions possibly interfere with reception of uplink transmissions by at least one remote BS, a victim BS whose reception of uplink transmissions are possibly interfered with by downlink transmissions from the at least one remote BS, or both an aggressor BS and a victim BS.

  • Patent number: 11006256
Abstract: The described techniques may allow transmitting devices to adjust transmission parameters (e.g., transmit power, modulation and coding scheme (MCS)), until reaching an optimal power and/or MCS. These techniques may allow devices to use power efficiently and reduce inter-device interference in a vehicle-to-everything sidelink system. For example, a transmitting device may begin transmissions to a receiving device with initial transmission parameters, which may be configured using a transmission priority and a channel busy ratio. The transmitting device may lower power and/or increase MCS in each of its subsequent transmissions of the same priority, until the receiving device transmits a feedback message that indicates a low signal quality or a failure to decode a previous transmission. The transmitting device may then increase its transmit power and/or decrease its MCS to an acceptable level for a specified time duration based on receiving the feedback message.

  • Patent number: 11005635
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A transmitter may receive feedback that a station failed to decode a packet sent over a first channel, and the transmitter may determine to re-send the packet or to send parity bits over the first channel or over a second channel to assist in decoding the failed packet. The first channel may be in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum, and the second channel may be in a licensed radio frequency spectrum and may have a higher reliability level compared to the first channel. The transmitter may determine a first channel degradation level, which may be based on a signal-to-noise ratio received from the station, and may determine an amount of parity bits to send based on the degradation. The transmitter may determine the reliability level of each channel, which may be based on a channel quality indicator.

  • Patent number: 11006403
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to determining a transmission configuration indication (TCI) state for receiving a multi-transmission point (TRP) communication. A receiving device receives a configuration message indicating a lowest control resource set identifier (CORESET ID) for receiving one or more downlink control information (DCI) and determines whether a state of the receiving device is within a scheduling threshold duration for decoding DCI. The receiving device then determines a TCI state for receiving data based on a TCI state associated with the lowest CORESET ID if the state of the receiving device is within the scheduling threshold duration, wherein the TCI state associated with the lowest CORESET ID indicates one or more sets of quasi co-location (QCL) parameters. The receiving device then receives the data from one or more transmission points (TRPs) based on the one or more sets of QCL parameters.
