Patent number: 10311220Abstract: The present application relates to authenticating a user of a user equipment (UE). Specifically, the described aspects include presenting for display an authentication pattern on a display of the UE after receiving an input representing a scan of a fingerprint. The authentication pattern may be displayed while the fingerprint sensor continues scanning the finger. Further, the UE may receive a second input representing a removal of the finger from the fingerprint sensor and an authentication pattern characteristic of the authentication pattern. In some aspects, the authentication pattern may be a visual timer, a visual color pattern, and/or a visual shape pattern. The UE may compare the fingerprint scan with a stored fingerprint and the authentication pattern characteristic with a stored authentication pattern characteristic to determine whether to permit the user to access the UE in an unlocked state.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2016Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventor: Vishnu Vardhan Kasilya Sudarsan

Patent number: 10310585Abstract: A replacement physical layer (PHY) for low-speed Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Express (PCIe) systems is disclosed. In one aspect, an analog PHY of a conventional PCIe system is replaced with a digital PHY. The digital PHY is coupled to a media access control (MAC) logic by a PHY interface for PCIe (PIPE) directly. In further exemplary aspects, the digital PHY may be a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) PHY that includes a serializer and a deserializer. Replacing the analog PHY with the digital PHY allows entry and exit from low-power modes to occur much quicker, resulting in substantial power savings and reduced latency. Because the digital PHY is operable with low-speed communication, the digital PHY can maintain sufficient bandwidth that communication is not unnecessarily impacted by digital logic of the digital PHY.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2017Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Shaul Yohai Yifrach, Amit Gil, James Lionel Panian, Ofer Rosenberg, Richard Dominic Wietfeldt

Patent number: 10313417Abstract: Automatic adaptive zoom enables computing devices that receive video streams to use a higher resolution stream when the user enables zoom, so that the quality of the output video is preserved. In some examples, a tracking video stream and a target video stream are obtained and are processed. The tracking video stream has a first resolution, and the target video stream has a second resolution that is higher than the first resolution. The tracking video stream is processed to define regions of interest for frames of the tracking video stream. The target video stream is processed to generate zoomed-in regions of frames of the target video stream. A zoomed-in region of the target video stream corresponds to a region of interest defined using the tracking video stream. The zoomed-in regions of the frames of the target video stream are then provided for display on a client device.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2017Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Assignee: Qualcomm IncorporatedInventors: Ying Chen, Dashan Gao

Patent number: 10305537Abstract: Over-the-air phase synchronization for reciprocity-based coordinated multipoint (CoMP) joint transmission is discussed. The base stations of the CoMP group and served user equipment (UEs) transmit phase synchronization reference signals (PSRS). The receiving nodes compute wideband co-phasing values representing the phase difference between pairs of the PSRS over each tone of a whole spectrum band, and slope values based on the per-tone co-phasing values. The UEs feedback the wideband downlink co-phasing value and the downlink slope value. The base stations of the CoMP group determine a phase compensation based on the differences between the slope value calculated by the base station and the slope value reported by the UE, and based on the differences between the wideband co-phasing value calculated by the base station and the wideband co-phasing value reported by the UE. The base station uses the phase compensation to adjust communications by the base stations in the CoMP group.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2018Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Zhifei Fan, Taesang Yoo
