  • Patent number: 9940992
Abstract: Leakage-aware activation control of a delayed keeper circuit for a dynamic read operation in a memory bit cell is disclosed. In one aspect, a leakage-aware activation control circuit is provided for a dynamic read circuit configured to perform read operations on a memory bit cell. To prevent or mitigate contention between the delayed keeper circuit and a read port circuit in the dynamic read circuit pulling a dynamic node to opposite voltage levels when a read operation is initiated, the leakage-aware activation control circuit is configured to adaptively control activation timing of the delayed keeper circuit based on a comparison of N-type Field-Effect Transistor (NFET) leakage current to P-type FET (PFET) leakage current. In this manner, the leakage-aware activation control circuit can adaptively adjust the activation timing of the delayed keeper circuit based on the actual relative strengths of NFETs and PFETs.

  • Patent number: 9939521
Abstract: Provided are apparatus and methods for ranging between a plurality of wireless devices. An exemplary method includes, at a first wireless device, transmitting a primary portion symbol comprising a first packet and transmitting a secondary portion symbol. The secondary portion symbol is transmitted simultaneously at a lower transmit power than the primary portion symbol, and the secondary portion symbol comprises a second packet identical to the first packet. The primary portion symbol can be transmitted in a first channel having a substantially 20 MHZ bandwidth and the secondary portion can be transmitted in a second channel having a substantially 20 MHZ bandwidth. The first and second channels are substantially adjacent in frequency. After transmitting the primary portion symbol, for example, a high-throughput long-training-field symbol or a very-high-throughput long-training-field symbol can be repetitively transmitted.

  • Patent number: 9942606
Abstract: Television white space devices are operable to communicate information over television white space and, more specifically, to quiet a transmitter for sensing signals in the television white space. A method for inconspicuous quieting of the transmitter in a television white space device inserts, from an application layer, information into a transport stream for transmission by the transmitter of the television white space device to produce a null window of time within the transport stream at a predetermined time. The method also transmits the transport stream by the transmitter of the television white space device and quiets the transmitter during the null window of time. The method senses, by a white space sensor of the television white space device, existing signals in the white space during the null window of time.

  • Patent number: 9940109
Abstract: Various embodiments of methods and systems for proactive resource allocation and configuration are disclosed. An exemplary method first compiles and links a profile instrumented application with a compiler comprising a profile guided optimization feature that inserts calls to a profiler runtime. The profile instrumented application is executed on a target device using one or more workload datasets representative of probable workloads. During execution, based on recognition of the inserted calls, an instrumentation-based profile dataset is generated in association with each of the one or more workload datasets. Next, the profile instrumented application is recompiled and relinked based on the instrumentation-based profile datasets to create a set of profile guided optimizations to the source code, thereby resulting in an optimized application.

  • Patent number: 9935546
Abstract: Power supplies combining a switching-mode power supply in parallel with a current source can improve maximum load current capability. The current source can be turned on, or the amount of current supplied by the current source increased, when there is a heavy load current demand, for example, when the load current demand is more than the current rating of the switching-mode power supply. The duty cycle of the output stage of the switching-mode power supply can be used to determine the load current demand. The current source may increase the maximum output current of the power supply beyond the maximum output current of the switching-mode power supply. For example, the current source may add 0.5 A to the current capability of a 2.5 A switching-mode power supply.

  • Patent number: 9934178
Abstract: Full bandwidth communication buses are disclosed. While primarily focused on the Serial Low-power Inter-chip Media Bus (SLIMbus) communication bus, the concepts of the present disclosure may be extended to other communication buses. Exemplary aspects of the present disclosure utilize a reserved segment distribution code and a segment length to define a Segment Interval that is better-sized relative to raw data bits. By fitting the segment interval to the size of the raw data bits, bandwidth utilization is maximized, resulting in faster effective data transfers. Completion of such efficient data transfers may allow the communication bus to spend more time in a low-power mode and thus, conserve power. Additionally, such efficient data transfers may allow for better quality in presentation of multimedia content to the user.
