  • Patent number: 7895613
Abstract: A feeding device of a slot-in disk drive is disposed in a casing of the disk drive and includes a traverse. A bolt is disposed on and protrudes from a side of the traverse. A flange extends from the side of the traverse near the bolt. A pre-stressed piece is a bended elastic body. One end of the pre-stressed piece is fixed to the flange of the traverse, and the other end is fixed to the casing. The pre-stressed piece presses the traverse downward by its elastic force. A slider includes a protrusion with a groove formed on a side of the protrusion. The bolt is inserted into and slides within the groove. The groove includes an unloading end, an inserting portion and a loading end. An opening is formed on the upper surface of the slider near the inserting portion for reducing the thickness of the disk drive.

  • Patent number: 7876347
Abstract: A focusing control method on a light-scribed disc firstly focuses a base voltage on a label side. Light summed signals are detected and recorded. The biggest light summed signal is determined, and subtracts the light summed signal of each spoke to form an error signal. The error signal is multiplied by a gain to form a gain signal. The base voltage adds the gain signal to form an upper referring voltage, and subtracts the gain signal to form a lower referring voltage. The label side is focused with the upper referring voltage and the lower referring voltage respectively. The light summed signals are detected and recorded, to determine the biggest light summed signal of each spoke. According to the corresponding voltage of the biggest light summed signals, a focusing control curve is approached to determine optimum parameters.

  • Patent number: 7873968
Abstract: A position detecting device of an optical drive utilizes a simple wire to connect a CPU of the optical drive to a latch part and a fixing part, such that the latch part, the CPU and the fixing part, which are original parts of the optical drive, form a detecting circuit. When the latch part clasps or releases a tray, the latch part latches or releases the fixing part to close or open the detecting circuit so that the CPU can correctly judge whether the tray enters for positioning, and thus start or shut down the optical drive. In addition, the members such as a flexible cable, a casing and a mainboard may replace parts of the wire to simplify the detecting circuit.

  • Publication number: 20110002210
Abstract: A method for calibrating an actuator is provided. A reflective reference surface is set. An objective lens is shifted to several calibration positions along the tracking direction in the actuator, focusing is performed at each position, and the shift volt and the focus volt are recorded. The focus volt at a calibration position is set as a standard focus volt, and the focus volt bias at the other calibration position with respect to the standard focus volt is calculated. A focus volt bias curve is formed by curve-fitting the focus volt bias and the shift volt at each calibration position, and a focus volt bias is obtained to compensate the volt along the focusing direction.

  • Patent number: 7768890
Abstract: The present invention is to provide an apparatus and method for calibrating focus balance in an optical disk drive. A focus servo unit controls a pick-up head to focus and read a mark for generating an RF signal. A jitter generator separates a jitter signal from the RF signal to form a jitter frequency. A focus balance unit compares sequential jitter frequencies to check the convergence and the goal, and determines the direction and variable of calibrating focus balance to generate an error signal. A compensator receives the error signal through the focus servo unit to control the pick-up head for calibrating focus balance.

  • Publication number: 20100177606
Abstract: A method for identifying a layer number of an optical disc is provided. Firstly, a SA value is adjusted to a standard SA value of each of two data layers in sequence. Next, focusing courses are performed so as to enable the focus point to pass through the optical disc. Then, maximum amplitudes of focusing error signals in the focusing courses are recorded. After that, whether the maximum amplitudes of the focusing error signals recorded in the focusing courses are equal is checked. If the maximum amplitudes are equal, the optical disc is identified as a double-layered disc. If the maximum amplitudes are not equal, the optical disc is identified as a single-layered disc.

  • Patent number: 7739700
Abstract: An insertion-proof device for optical disk drive is provided to prevent other discs from being inserted in the operating disk drive. A slider moves back and forth along the optical disk drive to load and unload a disc. A push head is disposed on one end of the slider near an entrance. A protrusion is extended backward from the protection unit and disposed on the moving path of the slider. At least one supporting arm is extended from the protection unit. After a disc is loaded, the push head pushes the protrusion, so that the protection unit rotatably fixed near the entrance is turned upward to cover part of the entrance to prevent other discs from being inserted in the operating disk drive. When unloading a disc, the push head releases the protrusion, so that the protection unit leaves the entrance for the original position.
