  • Patent number: 5395183
Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for use in drilling an offshore well wherein the upper end of a riser is intermittently supported from a floating vessel to permit the lower ends of additional pipe sections to be connected thereto and then lowered through the table for connection at its lower end to an underwater wellhead. The riser is supported from the vessel in such a manner as to absorb the load of the riser as an additional section is landed on its upper end, and then carry the load of the riser as the vessel tilts or rolls without imposing undue bending loads on the riser.

  • Patent number: 5388708
Abstract: A multiple hydrocyclone assembly includes a closed tubular vertical housing enclosing two concentric vertical cylinders which cooperate with the housing to define an inner cylindrical outlet chamber and concentric annular inlet and outer outlet chambers. Multiple hydrocyclones or cyclonettes are mounted in axially extending vertical rows and in corresponding radial positions in the cylinders from the outer surface of the outer cylinder, and the housing and concentric cylinders are formed in sections which are coupled together in end to end relation. Individual cyclonettes can be removed and replaced after removal of one or more of the housing sections. In order to increase the pressure of the feed stock to be cleaned which is supplied to the cyclonettes in the upper portion or sections of the assembly, vertically extending flow channels are provided in the lower portion of the inlet chamber by omitting cyclonettes from the rows in the lower sections of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 5309991
Abstract: There is disclosed a wellhead connector for connecting first and second tubular wellhead members in end-to-end relation, wherein locking segments are carried by a ring about the first member for movement between an outer position, to permit the ring to be moved over an outer surface of the second member, to an inner position in which locking shoulders on the inner ends of the locking segments slidably engage a locking shoulder about the outer surface of the second member to urge the ends of the members into tight engagement. The locking segments are moved to their inner positions by means of wedges guidably movable in the ring outwardly of the locking segments and having surfaces slidable over surfaces on the outer ends of the segments as the wedges are moved toward one another, and are moved to their outer positions, as the wedges move away from one another, by means of coil springs acting between the body and locking segments.
