Abstract: Generation of views of a real scene is based on selection of view criteria and the content of multiple types of source data. The viewpoint and at least one other criterion area used to determine which texture to sue for each surface, or portion of a surface, of a three-dimensional model. Regions of the images of the scene are associated with at least one portion of at least one surface of the three-dimensional model of the scene, wherein at least one of the portions is associated with the regions of at least two of the images. View selection criteria includes a criterion other than viewpoint. Based on the view selection criteria, selecting at least one of the regions for at least one of the portions and rendering a multi-view using the selected regions in combination with the three-dimensional model of the scene.

Abstract: A system and method for providing information for performing a registration correction for artillery employs two spaced apart optical imaging systems associated with a processing system. Outputs from the two imaging systems are monitored to detect potential shell trajectory events and then correlated to eliminate potential shell trajectory events not viewed by both optical imaging systems. Locations are determined for potential shell trajectory events viewed by both optical imaging systems. Shell firing data relating to firing of at least one shell is provided to determine at least one predicted trajectory time point for the shell, and this is used to identify a corresponding detected shell trajectory event.

  • Publication number: 20120307113
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating sequential viewing of streams of images of a common scene. The images are captured by an image sensor system having different viewing configurations generating visually dissimilar views. The electronic circuitry is configured, on transition between a first and a second viewing configurations, to input images captured using the first or second viewing configurations, and to generate a signal, derived from the input images. The signal corresponds to a gradual graphic transition between images captured using the first and the second viewing configurations, thus simulating a continuous viewing of the common scene. The gradual graphic transition includes transition due to a change of viewing direction, a change of aspect ratio, a change of sensor technology, a change of spectral sensitivity, a change of sensor sensitivity, a change of spatial resolution a change of sensor location, a change of binning level a change of displayed region of interest.

  • Patent number: 8319862
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for effecting a non-uniformity correction of images of a scene obtained with an array of detector elements are disclosed. A first image of the scene having a first integration period is acquired using the array of detector elements. A second image of the scene having a different integration period is acquired, and a corrected image of the scene is generated by computing a difference of the images. In some embodiments, the first and second images are images of substantially identical scenes. According to some embodiments, the images are infrared images. Optionally, the corrected image is subjected to further correction using pixel dependent correction coefficients, such as gain coefficients. Exemplary image detection elements include but are not limited to InSb detector elements and ternary detector elements, such as InAlSb, MCT (Mercury Cadmium Telluride), and QWIP technology (Quantum Well Infrared Photodiodes).

  • Patent number: 8284986
Abstract: A method for reducing the effects of background radiation introduced into gaseous plume spectral data obtained by an aerial imaging sensor, includes capturing spectral data of a gaseous plume with its obscured background along a first line of observation and capturing a second image of the previously obscured background along a different line of observation. The parallax shift of the plume enables the visual access needed to capture the radiometric data emanating exclusively from the background. The images are then corresponded on a pixel-by-pixel basis to produce a mapping. An image-processing algorithm is applied to the mapped images to reducing the effects of background radiation and derive information about the content of the plume.
