  • Patent number: 11282549
Abstract: In a data transmission system, one or more signal supply voltages for generating the signaling voltage of a signal to be transmitted are generated in a first circuit and forwarded from the first circuit to a second circuit. The second circuit may use the forwarded signal supply voltages to generate another signal to be transmitted back from the second circuit to the first circuit, thereby obviating the need to generate signal supply voltages separately in the second circuit. The first circuit may also adjust the signal supply voltages based on the signal transmitted back from the second circuit to the first circuit. The data transmission system may employ a single-ended signaling system in which the signaling voltage is referenced to a reference voltage that is a power supply voltage such as ground, shared by the first circuit and the second circuit.

  • Patent number: 11284034
Abstract: Signals representative of total photocharge integrated within respective image-sensor pixels are read out of the pixels after a first exposure interval that constitutes a first fraction of a frame interval. Signals in excess of a threshold level are read out of the pixels after an ensuing second exposure interval that constitutes a second fraction of the frame interval, leaving residual photocharge within the pixels. After a third exposure interval that constitutes a third fraction of the frame interval, signals representative of a combination of at least the residual photocharge and photocharge integrated within the pixels during the third exposure interval are read out of the pixels.

  • Patent number: 11275702
Abstract: A memory system supports single- and dual-memory-module configurations, both supporting point-to-point communication between a host (e.g., a memory controller) and the memory module or modules. Each memory module includes an address-buffer component, data-buffer components, and two sets of memory dies, each set termed a “timing rank,” that can be accessed independently. The one memory module is configured in a wide mode for the single-memory-module configuration, in which case both timing ranks work together, as a “package rank,” to communicate full-width data. Each of two memory modules are configured in a narrow mode for the dual-memory-module configuration, in which case one timing rank from each memory module communicates data in parallel to appear to the host as single package ranks. The data-buffer components support separate and configurable write and read delays for the different timing ranks on each module to provide read and write leveling within and between memory modules.

  • Patent number: 11276440
Abstract: A memory system includes a memory controller with a plurality N of memory-controller blocks, each of which conveys independent transaction requests over external request ports. The request ports are coupled, via point-to-point connections, to from one to N memory devices, each of which includes N independently addressable memory blocks. All of the external request ports are connected to respective external request ports on the memory device or devices used in a given configuration. The number of request ports per memory device and the data width of each memory device changes with the number of memory devices such that the ratio of the request-access granularity to the data granularity remains constant irrespective of the number of memory devices.

  • Patent number: 11277254
Abstract: A receiver device implements enhanced data reception with edge-based clock and data recovery such as with a flash analog-to-digital converter architecture. In an example embodiment, the device implements a first phase adjustment control loop, with for example, a bang-bang phase detector, that detects data transitions for adjusting sampling at an optimal edge time with an edge sampler by adjusting a phase of an edge clock of the sampler. This loop may further adjust sampling in received data intervals for optimal data reception by adjusting the phase of a data clock of a data sampler such a flash ADC. The device may also implement a second phase adjustment control loop with, for example, a baud-rate phase detector, that detects data intervals for further adjusting sampling at an optimal data time with the data sampler.

  • Patent number: 11258641
Abstract: Optimized continuous time linear equalization (CTLE) circuit parameters for a received signal are found using an iterative search process. The received signal is repeatedly sampled by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Certain samples containing interference that cannot be cancelled by a CTLE in the sampled series are filtered out (discarded). The remaining samples are used to generate, over a selected evaluation window, a histogram of the sampled values. This histogram is used to calculate a figure of merit for the current CTLE parameter settings. The figures of merit for various CTLE parameter settings are compared to find the set of CTLE parameter settings that optimize the figure of merit and by extension, optimize the CTLE circuitry's performance at equalizing the received signal.

  • Patent number: 11258522
Abstract: A method and system that provides for execution of a first calibration sequence, such as upon initialization of a system, to establish an operation value, which utilizes an algorithm intended to be exhaustive, and executing a second calibration sequence from time to time, to measure drift in the parameter, and to update the operation value in response to the measured drift. The second calibration sequence utilizes less resources of the communication channel than does the first calibration sequence. In one embodiment, the first calibration sequence for measurement and convergence on the operation value utilizes long calibration patterns, such as codes that are greater than 30 bytes, or pseudorandom bit sequences having lengths of 2N?1 bits, where N is equal to or greater than 7, while the second calibration sequence utilizes short calibration patterns, such as fixed codes less than 16 bytes, and for example as short as 2 bytes long.

  • Patent number: 11249845
Abstract: A hybrid volatile/non-volatile memory employs a relatively fast, durable, and expensive dynamic, random-access memory (DRAM) cache to store a subset of data from a larger amount of relatively slow and inexpensive nonvolatile memory (NVM). The memory supports error-detection and correction (EDC) techniques by allocating a fraction of DRAM storage to information calculated for each unit of stored data that can be used to detect and correct errors. An interface between the DRAM cache and NVM executes a wear-leveling scheme that aggregates and distributes NVM data and EDC write operations in a manner that prolongs service life.
