  • Patent number: 9652750
Abstract: A system and method for providing one or more client systems for communicating with a host system over a network. The client systems use a scanner to convert a paper form of a check, coupon, or other paper document to a digital representation and then the client systems send the digital representation over a network to the host system for storage. The host system archives the digital representation and determines the appropriate processing stream for a transaction related to the paper document (e.g. coupon, check), via a decisioning engine, based on a set of predefined stream selection rules. The host system then communicates the transaction to a back end transaction destination, according to the selected processing stream. Examples of the transaction destination can include ACH, Reproduce Paper, and Remittance.

  • Patent number: 8995012
Abstract: An automated document processing system, particularly for mobile image capture and processing of financial documents to enhance images captured on a mobile device with camera capabilities for data extraction. The systems comprise a mobile device that includes a capture device configured to capture color images of documents, and that has a processor for performing certain operations, such as color reduction, and a transmitter for sending an image from the mobile device to a server. The server is configured to optimize and enhance the image, and to apply an improved binarization algorithm using a window within a relevant document field and/or a threshold for the document field. Orientation correction may also be performed at the server by reading the MICR line on a check and comparing a MICR confidence to a threshold. A check image may also be size corrected using features of the MICR line and expected document dimensions.

  • Patent number: 8903155
Abstract: A method and system for determining an optical waveform based on a plurality of print features of a selected marking of a document. The method and system comprise obtaining optical image data representing the print features of the selected marking. The optical image data is corrected for at least one of print contrast or reflectance of the print features in the optical image data using respective print contrast thresholds or reflectance thresholds to produce a converted pixel map of the selected marking, the pixel map containing an ordered sequence of values. Also included is a generation module to transform the print features represented in the converted pixel map to a plurality of corresponding waveform features to produce the optical waveform of the selected marking, the corresponding waveform features including a plurality of spaced apart peaks representing respective optical signal levels of the print features.

  • Patent number: 8229203
Abstract: A plurality of PCS values are determined for a document having an area of interest containing critical data and a background image. Reflectance values distributed across the document are obtained and PCS threshold values corresponding to a plurality of locations on the document are stored in memory. Respective PCS values of a plurality of target portions of the surface are determined, each respective PCS value based on a reflectance value of the corresponding target portion and a reflectance value of a corresponding region located adjacent to the target portion, each of the regions being different for each target portion, each PCS value assigned a location representative of the location of the target portion, the size of the region being greater than the size of the target portion. The stored PCS threshold values are compared with the calculated PCS values to determine the acceptability of the background image.
