Patents Assigned to Reckitt & Colman Products Limited
  • Patent number: 4172120
Abstract: A solid pharmaceutical composition comprising anhydrous cholestyramine, 0.6 to 1.7 parts by weight of low viscosity grade alginic acid/sodium alginate per weight of cholestyramine, the low viscosity grade alginic acid/sodium alginate having 0 to 75% of the acid groups neutralized, 0.1 to 0.3 parts by weight of citric acid per weight of sodium alginate, and sufficient sodium carbonate or bicarbonate mixtures thereof to neutralize the acid groups of the alginic and citric acids. The compositions may be used in the treatment of conditions associated with duodeno-gastric reflux of bile into the stomach.

  • Patent number: 4140760
Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition for the suppression of gastric reflux comprises a low viscosity grade sodium alginate, from 0.16 to 2.60 parts by weight of sodium bicarbonate per part by weight of sodium alginate and from 0.10 to 1.04 parts by weight of calcium carbonate per part by weight of sodium alginate. These compositions may be presented in the form of dry powders which can be admixed with water to provide a palatable liquid preparation. However, preferably the compositions are presented in liquid form and a particularly preferred liquid composition comprises an aqueous medium containing 4.0 to 6.0% weight/volume of a low viscosity grade sodium alginate, 2.0 to 3.5% weight/volume of sodium bicarbonate, 1.2 to 2.0% weight/volume of calcium carbonate and 0.6 to 1.2% weight/volume of the sodium salt of an acrylic polymer cross-linked with 1% allyl-sucrose.

  • Patent number: 4112942
Abstract: A device for introducing aqueous compositions, especially those containing medicaments, in the form of a foam to a body cavity such as the colon or vagina, comprising a plastic container having a resilient deformable body portion, a dispensing end adapted to engage with the opening of the body cavity and a second end adapted to engage with a one-way valve assembly. When the container is partially filled with a foamable composition and a one-way valve assembly is attached foam may be expelled from the dispensing end into the body opening by squeezing the container body and on releasing the squeezing action air enters through the one-way valve assembly so that the container resumes its original shape ready for a further cycle of squeezing and reinflation.

  • Patent number: 4083697
Abstract: Firelighter compositions comprising a hardened emulsion of a hydrocarbon oil such as kerosine in a curable resin such as a urea-formaldehyde resin and having distributed uniformly throughout a particulate solid fuel of particle size distribution such that the preponderance is retained on a sieve of mesh number 35, nominal aperture size 0.44 mm.
